The second season of Outlander has begun filming! Is anyone else waiting on their tippy-toes daily for the new cast member announcements? Our hopeful, yet heavily burdened, Frasers are headed to 18th century France. Vive Les Frasers! I’m sure 18th century France had some interesting characters. Our beloved book, Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon, certainly gave us some wonderful characters not yet seen on the screen.
Darling wee Fergus, an orphaned pickpocket, will be portrayed by Romann Berrux (Détectives). Just look at those blue eyes… Reminds me of Sam Heughan’s baby blues. Of course, what doesn’t bring the thoughts back to our favorite ginger?! Author Gabaldon made the casting announcement on her Facebook page, saying, “Meet Romann Berrux, who in addition to having a fascinating collection of consonants in his name, is also playing Wee Fergus! (And doing a fine job of it, too, may I say…)”
Rosie Day will play Mary Hawkins, the daughter of a baronet and niece of Mr. Silas Hawkins. Mary is part of such an amazing element to the story, and Rosie has been an actress since the age of five. Can’t wait to see our dear Mary in action! Confirming her involvement in the series, Day posted to twitter: “Hello all you lovely Outlander fans! I’m so happy to be joining the show and to be reunited with mr @SamHeughan”
Dominique Pinon will be Master Raymond, this is a great combination. An intriguing character played by an amazing actor. (see this article more details on Pinon’s casting)
Stanley Weber (Borgia TV series) will be Le Comte St. Germain, our resident new bad guy, though he’s so handsome who could blame him for being bad? Le Comte St. Germain is a wine merchant and member of the French Court, and spoiler alert…. Jamie and Claire tick him off. I hope I didn’t just wreck it for you! Confirming his involvement in the upcoming season, Weber tweeted, “It’s official…already in Scotland shooting season 2 of Outlander. So stoked. Really.”
And when asked if the photo above, which is his profile picture on Facebook, will be how he looks in Outlander, Weber couldn’t only respond by saying he can’t say.
A Fraser cousin, Jared Fraser, will be portrayed by Robert Cavanah (Doctors). Cavanah is known for movies including Sahara and Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life. Jared will aid our infamous couple in France.
Our Bonnie Prince Charles Edward Stuart will be portrayed by a man recently known for portraying another kingdom’s ruler. Andrew Gower will be our Bonnie Prince of Scotland, and has recently played the Roman Emperor Caligula in the series A.D. The Bible Continued, though our Bonnie Prince Charlie wasn’t exactly the piece of work Caligula was in history. Another Outlander cast member who loves to post updates on Twitter, Gower tweeted: “Aye tis all true! Thrilled to be on board the Outlander adventure! x” – @TheAndrewGower
The wonderful Sister Angelique is cast to Audrey Brisson, known for Hereafter most recently. Sister Angelique is a formidable woman and is an angel with a rough side.
We even have our beloved Bouton who follows and helps Sister Angelique. He is just too adorable!
Thus ends the first installment of new additions to the Outlander world. Welcome to all!! Your FANmily awaits you with excitement. Fans who have read the books know there’s more to come…
Chris Hemsworth at the Thor: The Dark World premiere (Photo by Richard Chavez)
Director Paul Feig is thinking outside the box with his female-driven Ghostbusters movie. Apparently, Thor star Chris Hemsworth is going to be showing off his office skills by tackling the role of receptionist in the 2016 comedy film that has Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones as a fabulous foursome who aren’t afraid of any ghosts.
The role of the Ghostbusters receptionist was played by Annie Potts in the original Ghostbusters movies.
Writer/director Feig announced the Hemsworth’s cast news via Twitter.
In addition to his superhero duties, Hemsworth’s been keeping busy with Vacation, In the Heart of the Sea, and The Huntsman. He’ll soon be reprising his hammer-wielding God role in Thor: Ragnarok.
Starz announced the renewal of Power for a third season which should come as no surprise given the fact the season two premiere set a new record for the highest rated premiere episode of any series on the network. 1.43 million watched the first episode of season two live and overall more than 3.62 million watched the broadcast during the first weekend. Season three will begin shooting this September in New York, with Starz aiming for a 2016 premiere of the 10 episode third season.
Power was created by Courtney Kemp Agboh who executive produces along with Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Mark Canton, Randall Emmett, and Gary Lennon. The cast is led by Omari Hardwick and includes Lela Loren, Naturi Naughton, Joseph Sikora, Sinqua Walls, and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson.
“I am thrilled to learn that season three of Power has been officially ordered by Starz. It is an honor to work with Chris Albrecht, Carmi Zlotnik, Ken Segna and the whole Starz team. Their support has been steadfast from the beginning, and I look forward to a bright future together,” said executive producer/showrunner Courtney Kemp Agboh.
And actor/executive producer Curtis Jackson added, “Power is a project I have been passionate about since day one. I am glad the audience loves the show as much as we do, and we are just getting started.”
The Plot:
Power is the story of a visionary crime drama set in two different worlds: the glamorous New York club scene and the brutal drug trade.
Ghost’s work troubles pale in comparison to juggling his relationship with his wife, Tasha, and his first love, Angela, who’s also an Assistant U.S. Attorney investigating his drug organization. Ghost (Omari Hardwick) is set further back from his dream by his business partner, Tommy, who loves the drug game, and his former mentor, Kanan, fresh out of jail and looking for revenge.
Episodes starring Matt LeBlanc will be back for a fifth season as just announced today by David Nevins, President of Showtime Networks Inc. Filming will take place on the new season in London in 2016, with LeBlanc, Stephen Mangan, and Tamsin Greig reprising their roles. The cast also includes Mircea Monroe, Kathleen Rose Perkins and John Pankow.
Episodes was created by David Crane and Jeffrey Klarik and has earned Emmy, Golden Globe, and Writers Guild award nominations for its cast and writers.
“We are so pleased to continue working with David Crane and Jeffrey Klarik, two of the sharpest creative minds in comedy, along with the incredibly talented cast, led by Matt LeBlanc,” said Nevins. “And now that viewers have even more ways to access SHOWTIME programming, I’m excited for a whole new audience to watch this smart, funny comedy gem.”
The Plot:
Last season, Matt faced a financial crisis and was forced to make some tough decisions, while Sean (Stephen Mangan) and Beverly (Tamsin Greig) were dragged back to L.A. to shoot more episodes of their disastrous sitcom Pucks! Meanwhile, their other project, The Opposite of Us, refuses to go away.

French actor Dominique Pinon has been set to play Master Raymond in season two of Starz’s critically acclaimed drama series Outlander. Master Raymond is described as “a mysterious healer with a great deal of knowledge regarding secret matters, both political and occult. Though generally viewed with suspicion by his contemporaries, Master Raymond forms a special bond with Claire.”
Pinon’s credits include Delicatessen, The City of Lost Children, Alien: Resurrection, Amelie, A Very Long Engagement, Micmacs, and Prodigious TS Spivet.
Production is underway in Scotland on season two of Outlander which is set to air in 2016. Outlander stars Sam Heughan as Jamie Fraser, Caitriona Balfe as Claire Fraser, Tobias Menzies as Black Jack Randall/Frank Randall, Duncan Lacroix as Murtagh Fraser, and Graham McTavish as Dougal MacKenzie. Ronald D. Moore writes and executive produces Outlander based on Diana Gabaldon’s bestselling book series.
The Season 2 Plot:
Outlander is the story of a married combat nurse Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe) from 1945 who gets transported back into the year 1743, and is forced to marry Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), a young Scottish warrior. Season two of Outlander begins as Claire and Jamie arrive in France, hell-bent on infiltrating the Jacobite rebellion led by Prince Charles Stuart, and stopping the battle of Culloden. With the help of his cousin Jared (Robert Cavanah), a local wine merchant, Jamie and Claire are thrown into the lavish world of French society, where intrigue and parties are abundant, but political gain proves far less fruitful.
Altering the course of history presents challenges that begin to weigh on the very fabric of their relationship. However, armed with the knowledge of what lies ahead, Claire and Jamie must race to prevent a doomed Highland uprising, and the extinction of Scottish life as they know it.
For those who’ve adopted the “I’ll believe it when I see it” attitude, Fox has just released the first photo from the set of The X-Files new limited series. The behind-the-scenes photo proves that Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny are in fact back as FBI Agents Dana Scully and Fox Mulder. Filming is, obviously, underway on the six episode event series with The X-Files creator Chris Chris Carter back in charge.
When the return of The X-Files was first announced, Carter had this to say about why it’s taken 13 years to delve back into this world on TV. “I think of it as a 13-year commercial break,” said Carter. “The good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories.”
The cast of the event series also is set to include William B. Davis back as the Smoking Man, Mitch Pileggi returning as Walter Skinner, and Joel McHale joining the world of The X-Files as Tad O’Malley, an internet news anchor.
