New shows centered around social media, crowdfunding, and horrible messes are in development at Oxygen. The network just announced details on five series targeting young women and furthering Oxygen’s goal of “creating real lifestyle programming” for a key demographic. In announcing the new series, Oxygen didn’t say when we can expect to see any of these five shows debut in their primetime lineup.

“Inspired by millenials who express themselves and their ideas in innovative and diverse ways, these five new projects reflect Oxygen Media’s commitment to sharing fun and meaningful stories that resonate with our audience,” said Cori Abraham, Senior Vice President of Development & International, Oxygen Media.

Details on the Programs in Development (Courtesy of Oxygen):

Dead Clean (working title)

Produced by Lime Pictures and All3Media America with Kate Little, Claire Poyser, Derek McLean, Stephen Lambert and Eli Holzman serving as Executive Producers.

Dead Clean showcases a group of women working at Xtreme Cleaners, a company using bubbles and suds to clean and decontaminate some of the filthiest and goriest places from New Orleans to Baton Rouge. Armed with mops, hazmat suits and a sense of humor, these girls do the “dirty work” at crime scenes, hoarders’ homes and meth labs. For these eager millenials, the business of clean-up is just one step closer to their future goals whether they’re studying to be a criminal investigator, stashing cash for nursing school, or just trying to save up enough dough to move out of their parents’ homes.

House of Black Diamond (working title)

Produced by Thinkfactory Media, LLC with Adam Reed, Adam Freeman and Leslie Greif serving as Executive Producers.

House of Black Diamond follows six members of a successful drill team who live under one roof. Hard work, dedication and comical personal politics push this team to new limits as they fight to retain their reputation as the most decorated drill team on the West Coast. With multiple competitions each month, the road to success isn’t easy, but this group has the heart, talent and drive to reach new heights.

Start Me Up (working title)

Produced by Soshefeigh Media and Wilshire Studios with Matt O’Brien and René Brar serving as Executive Producers.

Bringing the online crowdfunding phenomenon to television for the first time, each episode follows three contestants determined to launch a new campaign, business or cause as they work with an expert team to create the ultimate 90-second pitch video. At the end, the three videos will go up on Oxygen.com where viewers will have the opportunity to donate money to the projects they love the most. On the following week’s show, the video which raised the most money will be revealed in real-time, honoring the winning contestant with a $25,000 grand prize.

Swipe for Love (working title)

Produced by Wilshire Studios with David Friedman serving as Executive Producer.

In the hyper-connected, social media-savvy world of millenials, online dating has quickly become the norm. In Swipe for Love, a group of eager young singles will put their profile pictures to the test in front of a live studio audience in hopes of finding “the one.” Potential couples will be matched based on their “swipes” and social media “likes” to compete in a series of challenges designed to test and reveal chemistry and compatibility.

The Ultimate Relationship Test (working title)

Produced by A. Smith & Co. Productions with Arthur Smith, Kent Weed and Guy Hameiri serving as Executive Producers.

In this innovative new competition series, ten couples will compete in large-scale challenges – ranging from the physical to the mental – to win wagered money. While one person competes, their significant other bets a sum of cash based on how they think their partner will perform. These challenges will showcase how intimately each partner knows the other while exposing the strengths and weaknesses of their relationship.

NBC’s set Henry Winkler, William Shatner, Terry Bradshaw, George Foreman, and Jeff Dye to star in the alternative comedy series Better Late Than Never based on the original series Grandpa Over Flowers. In addition to starring in the one-hour series set in Asia, Winkler will executive produce the show along with The Bachelor‘s Jason Ehrlich, Tim Crescenti, Craig Zadan, and Neil Meron.

Filming is expected to get underway in August, with shooting taking place in Tokyo, Kyoto, Seoul, Hong Kong, Bangkok, and Chang Mai.

The Plot:

Henry Winkler, William Shatner, Terry Bradshaw, George Foreman, and Jeff Dye will embark on the ultimate international excursion with no assistants, no limousines, and no lattes, in search of an intimate, life-changing experience. The five will navigate their way through each city — communicating with the local population, immersing themselves in local traditions, and enjoying exotic food — all the while dealing with the unexpected twists and turns that any trip presents. As they check off items on their own personal “bucket list,” the five will rely on each other for support and encouragement and, in the process, demonstrate that friendship is the ultimate gift.

Relativity Studios’ action comedy Masterminds has unveiled four new posters featuring the film’s main stars. Featured on the new character posters are Kristen Wiig (The Bait), Owen Wilson (The Brains), Zach Galifianakis (The Pawn), and Jason Sudeikis (The Psycho).

Directed by Napoleon Dynamite‘s Jared Hess, Masterminds is inspired by true events and will open in theaters on August 19, 2015.

The Plot: David Ghantt (Galifianakis) discovers the true meaning of adventure far beyond his wildest dreams. He is an uncomplicated man stuck in a monotonous life. Day in and day out he drives an armored vehicle, transporting millions of other people’s money with no escape in sight. The only glimmer of excitement is his flirtatious work crush Kelly Campbell (Wiig) who soon lures him into the scheme of a lifetime.

Along with a group of half-brained criminals led by Steve Chambers (Wilson) and an absurdly faulted heist plan, David manages the impossible and makes off with $17 million in cash…only problem is he foolishly hands the money over to this wild group of double crossers and has been set up to take the fall. With the bandits blowing the millions on lavish and ridiculous luxuries, they leave behind a glaring trail of evidence. Now on the lam and in over his head, David must dodge the authorities, evade a hilarious hit man, Mike McKinney (Sudeikis), and try to turn the tables on the ones he trusted most.

Drew Roy and Sarah Carter ‘Falling Skies’ Season 5 Interview

Drew Roy and Sarah Carter Falling Skies Season 5 Interview

Drew Roy and Sarah Carter said learning that the upcoming fifth season of TNT’s Falling Skies will be the show’s final season wasn’t necessarily a sad occasion and instead they both appreciated knowing before the final season that it would be the sci-fi show’s last.

At the 2015 WonderCon, Roy said, “I think it’s a blessing to know you’re going into your last season, so it doesn’t feel like a failure when you don’t get your next one. After you shoot five seasons and you hear that you’re not going to get a sixth, you’d feel like you failed which you didn’t. Five seasons is huge. So, I thought it was a blessing that we knew and that you could craft it that way, and that we knew it was coming to an end.”

Knowing that the end was coming after this season didn’t change the way either Carter or Roy played their characters. “I think you take every season as it comes,” said Carter. “You do your best with what you’re given. I think knowing that it was the final season, it adds some sentiment probably, more than anything. We love each other. We’ve become family and it made going to work really special. There were a lot of lasts this season. Like, the last time you wore your boots, the last time you shot this gun, you’re working on this location.”

“When you’re shooting a TV show, it’s not like a movie where you can craft this whole arc so you can’t really play it differently. It’s like [Sarah] was saying, whatever you’re presented with is what you’re presented with and you have to deal with it. So it’s episode by episode,” added Roy. “I don’t feel like I approached it any different.”

Asked if they’re satisfied with their characters’ final outcome, Roy replied, “I think so. The thing is that to think about what your story could be or what you want it to be doesn’t really do you any good, you know? If you’re given this story, you figure out how you can make that story the most personal or interesting to you. I don’t even think about what it could have been, so to me, yeah, it’s great. That’s what we were given and that’s what we did.”

Last year at WonderCon Carter dropped the bomb that there would be a love triangle. So, what big news could they divulge about the upcoming fifth season? “As soon as the trailers start appearing I feel like it’s spoiler alert all the time!” said Roy, laughing. “I think, ‘Holy cow, they showed that?!’ So, I feel like I can tell you anything.”

“I feel like with Maggie, though, the main thing is her relationship to the spikes and how that affects her relationship to Hal,” explained Carter about season five, which debuts on June 28, 2015. “That becomes really important. And she makes a tough decision around the spikes and around Hal…”

“…and Ben is a part of that decision,” added Roy.

“It’s just a mess! The love triangle is pretty heartbreaking. It’s another heartbreaking season for Maggie in a lot of ways. But she’s cool. She prevails,” said Carter.

The Season Five Plot:

In Falling Skies, Noah Wyle stars as Tom Mason, a college professor who became an unlikely resistance leader following a massive invasion by an alien race known as the Espheni. Moon Bloodgood is Dr. Anne Glass, a pediatrician who became the survivors’ primary physician and newly battle-hardened losing her daughter in a battle to destroy the alien power core. Will Patton is Colonel Weaver, the gruff and emotionally scarred commander of the 2nd Mass who has been leading the battle against the invaders.

Last season on Falling Skies, the Mason family and the remaining 2nd Mass found themselves under brutal attack by a new Espheni war machine – and a new, deadly creation unlike anything previously encountered. Divided like chattel and spread to the winds, they forged new relationships and fought harder than ever in order to survive.

As season five opens, all breed of beast and mutant are running rampant on earth. The Espheni’s power core has been destroyed, and humans are now ready to fight on their terms, even if it means resorting to hand-to-hand combat against the enemy. After four years of being tortured, imprisoned and mutated and having their loved ones stolen from them, Tom and the 2nd Mass are filled with rage, ready to destroy the enemy in an all-out battle to determine the fate of Earth.

Blake Shelton’s ‘Forever Young’ Music Video from ‘Max’

Blake Shelton's Max Forever Young Music Video

Blake Shelton took to social media to announce the just-released music video for “Forever Young” from the movie Max. I’m a sucker for dog movies so this one’s on my must-see list, and the “Forever Young” music video features new footage from Max starring Robbie Amell, Josh Wiggins, Lauren Graham, Thomas Haden Church, and a gorgeous, well-trained dog.

Directed by Boaz Yakin (Remember the Titans), Max will be opening in theaters on June 26, 2015.

The Plot:

A precision-trained military dog, Max serves on the frontlines in Afghanistan alongside his handler, U.S. Marine Kyle Wincott. But when things go terribly wrong on maneuvers, Kyle is mortally wounded and Max, traumatized by the loss of his best friend, is unable to remain in service.

Shipped stateside, the only human he seems willing to connect with is Kyle’s teenage brother, Justin, so Max is adopted by Kyle’s family, essentially saving his life. But Justin has issues of his own, such as living up to his father’s expectations for him; he isn’t interested in taking responsibility for his brother’s troubled dog. However, Max may be Justin’s only chance to discover what really happened to his brother that day on the front, and with the help of a tough-talking young teen, Carmen, who has a way with dogs, Justin begins to appreciate his canine companion.

Justin’s growing trust in Max helps the four-legged veteran revert back to his heroic self, and as the pair race against time to unravel the mystery, they find more excitement—and danger—than they bargained for. But they each might also find an unlikely new best friend…in each other.
