Netflix has released the official trailer for Marvel’s Daredevil, the first of the four Marvel shows coming to the streaming service in a deal between Netflix and Marvel. Daredevil will debut on April 10, 2015, with all 13 episodes available on that date for binge-watching.

The cast is led by Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock / Daredevil) and includes Rosario Dawson (Claire Temple), Vincent D’Onofrio (Wilson Fisk), Deborah Ann Woll (Karen Page), Elden Henson (Foggy Nelson), Scott Glenn (Stick), Bob Gunton (Leland Owlsley), Toby Leonard Moore (Wesley), Vondie Curtis Hall (Ben Urich), and Ayelet Zurer (Vanessa Marianna).

The Plot:

Meet Matt Murdock. Blinded as a boy but imbued with extraordinary senses, Matt fights injustice by day as a respected lawyer and by night as the masked vigilante known as Daredevil in Hell’s Kitchen, New York. He’ll do anything to make his city a better place, but at what price?

‘Frozen Fever’ Photos and Behind the Scenes Featurette

Disney’s animated short film Frozen Fever will debut on March 13, 2015 in front of the live-action Cinderella, and in this behind the scenes video directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee discuss what fans of Frozen can expect to see when Anna, Olaf, Elsa, and Kristoff return to the screen. Buck and Lee also talk about when the new short film is set and discuss revisiting the world of Arendelle. Also revisiting the world of Arendelle are Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff, and Josh Gad who reprise their Frozen roles in the short.

Disney also released the first photos from the film: Frozen Fever Photo Gallery.

Olivia Wilde’s Back from the Dead in ‘The Lazarus Effect’s New Trailer

The Lazarus Effect‘s showing off a creepy new trailer featuring Olivia Wilde as a woman brought back from the dead who returns drastically altered (think Pet Sematary). Directed by David Gelb, Relativity Studios’ The Lazarus Effect also stars Mark Duplass, Donald Glover, Evan Peters, and Sarah Bolger.

The Lazarus Effect opens on February 27, 2015.

Olivia Wilde stars in ‘The Lazarus Effect’

The Plot:

From masters of horror Blumhouse Productions – producer of The Purge, Insidious, and Sinister franchises – The Lazarus Effect follows a group of researchers led by Frank (Mark Duplass) and his fiancée Zoe (Olivia Wilde,) who’ve achieved the unimaginable – bringing the dead back to life. After a successful, yet unsanctioned, trial on a newly deceased animal, the team is ready to unveil their breakthrough to the world. When the dean of their university learns of their underground experiments, their project is unexpectedly shut down and their materials confiscated.

Frank, Zoe and their team (Donald Glover, Sarah Bolger and Evan Peters) take matters into their own hands, launching a rogue attempt to recreate their experiment, during which things go terribly wrong and one of their own, Zoe, is horrifically killed. Fueled by terror and grief, Frank pushes them to do the unthinkable: attempt to resurrect their first human test subject.

Initially, the procedure appears a success, but the team soon realizes something is wrong with Zoe. As her strange new persona reveals itself, the team quickly becomes stuck in a gruesome reality. They are no longer faced with the question of whether they can bring someone back to life – but rather, the wrath of her return.

Charlie Hunnam Will Star in ‘The Lost City of Z’ with Robert Pattinson

Benedict Cumberbatch had to bow out of The Lost City of Z (his schedule’s too full to tackle the project) and Sons of Anarchy‘s Charlie Hunnam has been signed up to take over the role Cumberbatch vacated. The action-adventure film is based on David Grann’s book and was adapted for the screen by James Gray. Gray is also on board to direct.

Hunnam joins a cast that includes Robert Pattinson and Sienna Miller (currently earning rave reviews in American Sniper). Filming is expected to begin this summer.

The Lost City of Z is set up with Sierra Pictures, Plan B, and MICA Entertainment, with Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, Dale Johnson, and Anthony Katagas attached as producers. Marc Butan, Julie B. May, and Glenn Murray are executive producing.

The Plot: In 1925, Percy Fawcett ventured into the Amazon in search of an ancient civilization, hoping to make one of history’s most important discoveries. For centuries Europeans believed the world’s largest jungle concealed the glittering kingdom of El Dorado, leading thousands of explorers to die looking for it. Captivating the imagination of millions round the globe, Fawcett embarked with his son, to prove that this ancient civilization existed. Then his expedition vanished.

Hunnam is currently working on Knights of the Round Table: King Arthur with director Guy Ritchie. He’s also got a starring role in Guillermo del Toro’s Crimson Peak, which is coming out in theaters this October and co-stars Tom Hiddleston and Jessica Chastain.




Ryan Gosling’s ‘Lost River’ Shows Off a Trailer and Poster

Ryan Gosling’s first directorial effort, Lost River, will open in limited theaters beginning on April 10, 2015 as well as on VOD, as just announced by Warner Bros Pictures. The dramatic thriller starring Christina Hendricks, Saoirse Ronan, Iain De Caestecker, and Matt Smith is also confirmed to screen at this year’s SXSW Film Festival in Texas. And in support of the film’s upcoming North American premiere at SXSW, Warner Bros has unveiled a new Lost River trailer and poster.

“Ryan is one of the most exciting actors of his generation and Lost River reveals that he is also one of its most promising young directors,” said Sue Kroll, President of Worldwide Marketing and International Distribution Kroll. “His debut film is a singular vision of stranded people finding connection in a broken world. We believe in this film and in Ryan as a director and are delighted to be working with him in this new role. This is a great opportunity to give audiences the chance to discover this compelling, original work for themselves.”

“I am excited that Lost River is being released by Warner Bros. and having its North American premiere at SXSW,” said writer/director/producer Gosling. ”It’s a small specialty film, so for me, this day-and-date theatrical and digital release plan provides the best of both worlds. It allows those who are interested in seeing my film in a theatre to do so without excluding the majority of people who don’t have access to a specialty cinema. The Lost River Plot:

Lost River is a dark fairy tale about love, family and the fight for survival in the face of danger. In the virtually abandoned city of Lost River, Billy (Hendricks), a single mother of two, is led into a macabre underworld in her quest to save her childhood home and hold her family together. Her teenage son Bones (De Casestecker) discovers a mystery about the origins of Lost River that triggers his curiosity and sets into motion an unexpected journey that will test his limits and the limits of those he loves.

‘Minions’ New Trailer Introduces Sandra Bullock as Scarlet Overkill

Sandra Bullock provides the voice of a super-villain named Scarlet Overkill in the Despicable Me spin-off, Minions. Set 42 years B.G. (Before Gru), the Minions movie tells the story of the goofy yellow guys’ search for a super-villain to work for. The new trailer finds the minions heading to Orlando, Florida to check out Villain Con where they meet – and go home with – Scarlet Overkill.

Minions is opening in theaters on July 10, 2015.

The Plot:

The story of Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment’s Minions begins at the dawn of time. Starting as single-celled yellow organisms, Minions evolve through the ages, perpetually serving the most despicable of masters. Continuously unsuccessful at keeping these masters—from T. Rex to Napoleon—the Minions find themselves without someone to serve and fall into a deep depression.

But one Minion named Kevin has a plan, and he—alongside teenage rebel Stuart and lovable little Bob—ventures out into the world to find a new evil boss for his brethren to follow.

The trio embarks upon a thrilling journey that ultimately leads them to their next potential master, Scarlet Overkill (Bullock), the world’s first-ever female super-villain. They travel from frigid Antarctica to 1960s New York City, ending in mod London, where they must face their biggest challenge to date: saving all of Minionkind…from annihilation.

Magic Mike XXL Movie Teaser Poster

Channing Tatum unveiled the first official teaser poster for Magic Mike: XXL, the sequel to the 2012 male stripper movie that provided plenty of eye candy for audiences. The new film is written by Tatum and Reid Carolin, and the new poster features actor/writer/dancer Tatum pointing to his package.

Magic Mike: XXL also stars Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Kevin Nash, Adam Rodriguez, Gabriel Iglesias, Elizabeth Banks, Donald Glover, Amber Heard, Andie MacDowell, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Michael Strahan. The sequel will open in theaters on July 1, 2015.

The Plot:

Picking up the story three years after Mike bowed out of the stripper life at the top of his game, Magic Mike XXL finds the remaining Kings of Tampa likewise ready to throw in the towel. But they want to do it their way: burning down the house in one last blow-out performance in Myrtle Beach, and with legendary headliner Magic Mike sharing the spotlight with them. On the road to their final show, with whistle stops in Jacksonville and Savannah to renew old acquaintances and make new friends, Mike and the guys learn some new moves and shake off the past in surprising ways.
