Jason Bateman Talks Nicely About Bad Words

Jason Bateman's Bad Words Trailer

Jason Bateman’s film career was launched in 1987 with the role of ‘Todd Howard’ in Teen Wolf Too, and before that he had starring roles on TV shows including Little House on the Prairie, Silver Spoons, and Valerie. But it took until 2013 for Bateman to finally step behind the camera for his feature film directorial debut, Bad Words. And in this behind-the-scenes video, Bateman talks about the script and how the comedy in it matches his own sense of humor.

The Plot:

Bateman stars as Guy Trilby, a 40-year-old who finds a loophole in the rules of The Golden Quill national spelling bee and decides to cause trouble by hijacking the competition. Contest officials, outraged parents, and overly ambitious 8th graders are no match for Guy, as he ruthlessly crushes their dreams of victory and fame. As a reporter (Kathryn Hahn) attempts to discover his true motivation, Guy finds himself forging an unlikely alliance with a competitor: awkward 10-year-old Chaitanya (Rohan Chand), who is completely unfazed by Guy’s take-no-prisoners approach to life.

‘Left Behind’ Starring Nicolas Cage Gets a Release Date

Left Behind Gets a Release Date

Stoney Lake Entertainment will be opening the action film Left Behind in theaters on October 3, 2014. The apocalyptic adventure film stars Nicolas Cage, Chad Michael Murray, Cassi Thomson, Nicky Whelan, Lea Thompson, and Jordin Sparks, and was directed by Vic Armstrong.

Left Behind‘s based on the bestselling book series by Jerry B Jenkins and Tim LaHaye, which has sold more than 65 million copies worldwide and was adapted for the screen by Paul Lalonde and John Patus.

“We’re seeing a number of big, biblical movies on the calendar this year, particularly Son of God, Noah, and Exodus. What makes Left Behind different is that it is a contemporary story that could actually happen at any moment,” says Paul Lalonde, producer and CEO of Stoney Lake Entertainment. “It’s also a historical account in a sense, because it’s based on a true story, it just hasn’t happened yet. So it’s very important to us that the core story not be changed. We had offers from three of the major studios in Hollywood to distribute this movie, but none would allow final control of the story to be left in our hands.”

“My greatest hope for this movie is that people will be entertained and thrilled by it, but also that they’ll go home and have conversations with their family, and ask ‘do you think this could happen, or couldn’t happen?’ and it’ll inspire discussion and closeness,” said Cage.

“I believe it does justice to the novel and will renew interest in the entire series,” stated author Jerry Jenkins. “It is the best movie I have ever seen on the rapture,” added Tim LaHaye.

The Plot: Left Behind follows Rayford Steele (Nicolas Cage) who is piloting a commercial airliner just hours after the Rapture when millions of people around the globe simply vanish. Thirty thousand feet over the Atlantic, Rayford is faced with a damaged plane, terrified passengers, and a desperate desire to get back to his family. On the ground, his daughter, Chloe Steele (Cassi Thomson) is among those left behind, forced to navigate a world of madness as she searches for her lost mother and brother.
