The voice cast of Disneytoon Studios’ The Pirate Fairy has expanded by one. Singer/songwriter/actor Carlos Ponce will be lending his voice to the character of ‘Bonito’ – a sensitive pirate – in the family-friendly film.
Here’s the description of Bonito, courtesy of the studio: “Serving as rigger alongside James and Zarina in the film, the huge Spaniard can throw a harpoon a hundred yards. But Bonito is quite passionate about sewing, not only the ship’s sails but also applying dainty double-stitched seams to his fairy captain’s tiny outfits. The swashbuckling new adventure about an ambitious, but misunderstood dust-keeper fairy who joins forces with a band of pirates sets sail April 1, 2014.”
Directed by Peggy Holmes, the voice cast also includes Tom Hiddleston, Christina Hendricks, Mae Whitman, Megan Hilty, Lucy Liu, Raven-Symoné, and Anjelica Huston.
The Plot:
The Pirate Fairy charts a course for the most exciting Disney Fairies adventure ever! When a misunderstood dust-keeper fairy named Zarina steals Pixie Hollow’s all-important Blue Pixie Dust, and flies away to join forces with the pirates of Skull Rock, Tinker Bell and her fairy friends must embark on the adventure of a lifetime to return it to its rightful place. However, in the midst of their pursuit of Zarina, Tink’s world is turned upside down. She and her friends find that their respective talents have been switched and they have to race against time to retrieve the Blue Pixie Dust and return home to save Pixie Hollow.

Sad to say the rumors are all true. The season eight finale airing on March 26, 2014 will be the final episode of Psych. USA made the announcement today, saying the show will be sent off with a special one-hour live show immediately following the series finale. The live show will include series creator Steve Franks and the entire cast answering questions in front of an LA audience.
“Psych has made an indelible imprint on the television landscape, with a unique brand of comedy,” said Chris McCumber, President of USA Network. “The final season celebrates the iconic characters that have made this show so beloved, and will be an exclamation point on the series’ incredible run. And while the series will wrap in March somehow I don’t believe we’ve heard the last of Shawn and Gus.”
“Psych is one of those rare projects that broke into the cultural mainstream,” added Jeff Wachtel, President and Chief Content Officer, NBCU Cable Entertainment. “Its wild energy, fearless fun and engaging characters delivered an unrivaled series that will continue to be loved by fans for as long as there are ways to watch TV.”
Starz confirmed they’re moving forward on Survivor’s Remorse from NBA star LeBron James, Tom Werner (Chairman of the Boston Red Sox), Mike O’Malley, Maverick Carter and Paul Wachter. The half-comedy will shoot in Atlanta, Georgia and will debut a six-episode season one later this year on Starz.
“Ever since I got cut from the freshman hoop team at Bishop Guertin High School in 1980, I’ve wanted to write about my love and hatred of basketball,” said Mike O’Malley, series writer and executive producer. “Starz has given us great freedom to explore an authentic world inspired by Maverick and LeBron. Tom’s legendary TV career and his experiences as a professional sports owner combined with Paul’s wealth of business and entertainment industry relationships have given this team a truly strong foundation to build a successful series.”
“Mike has infused the world of Survivor’s Remorse with humor and heart,” added Chris Albrecht, Starz CEO. “Along with LeBron, Maverick, Tom and Paul, we feel we really have an all-star team to capture the complexity and comedy inherent to this series.”
The Plot of Survivor’s Remorse:
The story follows Cam Calloway, a basketball phenom in his early 20’s who is suddenly thrust into the limelight after signing a multi-million dollar contract with a professional basketball team in Atlanta. The two confront the challenges of carrying opportunistic family members and their strong ties to the impoverished community that they come from. Cam, Reggie and an unforgettable group of characters wrestle with the rewards and pitfalls of stardom, love and loyalty.
You’ve got to feel a little sorry for New Yorkers. First, innocent pedestrians just walking down the street minding their own business were lured in and then scared by a demon baby in support of Devil’s Due. Now, AMC’s The Walking Dead has pulled off a stunt which involves actors made up as zombies lurking below sidewalk grates ready to freak out anyone who ventures near. Well, except for babies and dogs…the actors left them alone but everyone else was fair game. The strangest part of the stunt turned out to be how casually the pedestrians accepted the fact there were zombies reaching up to attack them from under the sidewalk. Sure, the NYers were a little frightened, but most walked away laughing.

OneRepublic released their third studio album, Native, in March 2013, which debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. The set includes hits “If I Lose Myself,” “Feel Again” and “Counting Stars,” which reached No. 1 at Top 40 radio and was recently featured in a Bud Light commercial that aired during Super Bowl.
Fox has released a Japanese trailer for the upcoming comic book-inspired action film X-Men: Days of Future Past which stars pretty much every major character from the previous X-Men movies. Directed by Bryan Singer, the cast includes Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Hugh Jackman, Halle Berry, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Peter Dinklage, Omar Sy, Daniel Cudmore, and Lucas Till.
20th Century Fox will release X-Men: Days of Future Past in theaters on May 23, 2014.
The Plot:
The ultimate X-Men ensemble fights a war for the survival of the species across two time periods in X-Men: Days of Future Past. The beloved characters from the original X-Men film trilogy join forces with their younger selves from X-Men: First Class, in an epic battle that must change the past — to save our future.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers have always been against any singer/band miming a performance, however in order to perform on the Super Bowl XLVIII halftime show, they had to agree to do so without playing live. The vocals were performed live by Anthony Kiedis, but the band took the stage without their instruments plugged in. The reason: the NFL made it a non-negotiable part of the Super Bowl contract.
Flea addressed the issue head-on in a letter on the band’s official website that said in part, “When we were asked by the NFL and Bruno to play our song Give It Away at the Super Bowl, it was made clear to us that the vocals would be live, but the bass, drums, and guitar would be pre-recorded. I understand the NFL’s stance on this, given they only have a few minutes to set up the stage, there are a zillion things that could go wrong and ruin the sound for the folks watching in the stadium and the t.v. viewers. There was not any room for argument on this, the NFL does not want to risk their show being botched by bad sound, period.”
Kiedis, Josh Klinghoffer, Chad Smith, and Flea decided to bend the band’s rules and mime their performances because of the importance of the gig and because they’re all football fans who wanted to be a part of the Super Bowl.
“So, when this Super Bowl gig concept came up, there was a lot of confusion amongst us as to whether or not we should do it, but we eventually decided, it was a surreal-like, once in a life time crazy thing to do and we would just have fun and do it,” explained Flea. “We had given this a lot of thought before agreeing to do it, and besides many a long conversation amongst ourselves, I spoke with many musician friends for whom I have the utmost respect, and they all said they would do it if asked, that it was a wild, trippy thing to do, what the hell.
Plus, we the RHCP all love football too, and that played a big part in our decision. We decided that, with Anthony singing live, we could still bring the spirit and freedom of what we do into the performance, and of course, we played every note in the recording specially for the gig. I met and spoke with Bruno, who was a beautiful dude, a real talented musician, and we worked out something that seemed like it would be fun.”
The band recorded the track and then during the actual Super Bowl halftime show, they performed along to that pre-recorded track. Flea says they could have tried to fool everyone by plugging in their instruments but did not, even though they knew in advance that it would cause a stir. “Of course easily we could have, and this would be a non-issue. We thought it better to not pretend. It seemed like the realest thing to do in the circumstance. It was like making a music video in front of a gazillion people, except with live vocals, and only one chance to rock it. Our only thought was to bring the spirit of who we are to the people,” offered Flea.
