Murray-arty challenges Sherlock to solve a counting mystery involving apples and oranges in this new Sesame Street video. Benedict Cumberbatch, who keeps insisting he’s not Sherlock and that he’s an actor, then calls on The Count to help him figure out the correct answer.
In addition to hanging out on Sesame Street and starring as Sherlock, Cumberbatch has The Lost City of Z, The Hobbit: There and Back Again, The Imitation Game, The Penguins of Madagascar, and Blood Mountain in the works.
HBO’s such a tease. Here they go again, revealing yet another behind-the-scenes featurette with clips from the upcoming fourth season of Game of Thrones just to make us even more impatient for the season’s premiere on April 6, 2014. The new video focuses on production designer Deborah Riley who discusses the sets and props used in the critically acclaimed series.
Based on George R.R. Martin’s riveting bestselling book series, Game of Thrones features an ensemble cast led by Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, and Kit Harington, and including Sophie Turner, Maisie Williams, and Natalie Dormer.

Olivia Newton-John will be heading to Vegas, baby, in April as the star of “Summer Nights.” The singer/actress is headlining a new show at Flamingo Las Vegas, kicking off on April 8, 2014 and running through the end of August. Newton-John will be performing her hits in the Flamingo’s Donny & Marie Showroom, promising fans she’ll be taking them on a musical journey through her lengthy career.
“We look forward to welcoming Olivia to Flamingo Las Vegas, where so many other iconic artists have performed,” said Eileen Moore, regional president of the famed center Strip resort. “She has such a broad appeal and you can count all of us here at Flamingo among her adoring fan base; she’s the ‘one that we want’ and we can’t wait for her to call Flamingo home.”
“I am thrilled to be able to call Las Vegas home for a while,” says Olivia. “I have performed here many times through the years and have had nothing but wonderful memories and I look forward to even more fun at the Flamingo. I am especially thrilled that a portion of every ticket sold will benefit the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre.”
Newton-John is a breast cancer survivor who founded the Olivia Newton-John Cancer and Wellness Centre in partnership with Austin Health. 10 years of fundraising and $200 million after it was conceived, the Cancer and Wellness Centre opened in 2012 “for cancer treatment, education, training, and research as well as a dedicated wellness center.”
Backed by an eight-piece band, Newton-John will be performing such hits as “Have You Never Been Mellow,” “Let Me Be There,” “If You Love Me Let Me Know,” “I Honestly Love You,” “Hopelessly Devoted to You,” “You’re The One That I Want,” and “Summer Nights.”
The CW has given the greenlight to a pilot order of The Messengers from executive producer Basil Iwanyk. Kent Kubena and Ava Jamshidi are also on board as executive producers, with Teen Wolf‘s Eoghan O’Donnell penning the pilot and co-executive producing.
The network hasn’t released any casting details or set a date for when The Messengers will premiere.
The Plot:
“When a mysterious object crashes down to earth, a group of seemingly unconnected strangers die from the energy pulse, but then awaken to learn that they have been deemed responsible for preventing the impending Apocalypse.”
Magnolia Pictures has snagged US rights to the documentary Life Itself, based on the life of film critic Roger Ebert and directed by Steve James (Hoop Dreams). Magnolia plans a summer theatrical release followed by a television premiere on CNN. (GKRJBF735CDC)
“Roger Ebert gets the tribute he deserves with Life Itself,” said Magnolia President Eamonn Bowles. “Steve James has done a beautiful job capturing Roger’s complexity and energy in a loving but wonderfully clear-eyed portrait.”
“Magnolia is the perfect partner for bringing this film on such a seminal figure in film to the big screen. Roger’s story deserves it,” added director James.
“We’re delighted to re-team with Magnolia for another thoughtful film that will have a strong, lasting impact on all who see it. Together, we look forward to bringing Steve James’ beautiful portrait of an American icon to audiences across all platforms,” Vinnie Malhotra, senior vice president of development and acquisitions for CNN Worldwide. The companies previously worked together on the release of the award-winning documentary Blackfish about SeaWorld’s killer whales.
The Plot of Life Itself:
Roger Ebert was a beloved national figure and arguably our best-known and most influential movie critic, and his passing in 2013 was deeply felt across the country. Based on his memoir of the same name, Life Itself recounts his fascinating and flawed journey—from politicized school newspaperman, to Chicago Sun-Times movie critic, to Pulitzer Prize winner, to television household name, to the miracle of finding love at 50, and finally his “third act” as a major voice on the Internet when he could no longer physically speak.
Ke$ha is going to concentrate on her health and has officially cancelled her scheduled tour dates. The singer is currently in rehab for an eating disorder, and the decision to postpone her upcoming concerts was made so that she can extend her rehab stay.
In a statement [via Billboard], the singer explained why she’s made this decision:
“I was so looking forward to performing at these dates, but I need to follow my Doctor’s advice and get my health back on track,” said Ke$ha. “All of your support during this time has been so amazing. I couldn’t have done this without you all. I look forward to coming back stronger than ever on the next tour.”
There’s no word yet on when the canceled concerts might be rescheduled.
Directed by Neil Burger, Divergent stars Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Ashley Judd, Jai Courtney, Ray Stevenson, Zoё Kravitz, Miles Teller, Tony Goldwyn, Ansel Elgort, Maggie Q, Mekhi Phifer, and Kate Winslet. Summit’s releasing the film in theaters and IMAX on March 21, 2014.
The Divergent Plot:
Divergent is a thrilling action-adventure film set in a future where people are divided into distinct factions based on their personalities. Tris Prior (Woodley) is warned she is Divergent and will never fit into any one group. When she discovers a conspiracy to destroy all Divergents, she must find out what makes being Divergent so dangerous before it’s too late.
To be directed by Joe Dante (Gremlins), Xavier Gans (Hitman), and Timo Vuorensola (Iron Sky), Fear Paris is a fantasy, horror, sci-fi combo that’s still in the casting stage and will be produced by Laura Rister, Ehud Bleiberg, Steven Schneider, and Darryn Welch. Two additional directors will also be a part of the project.
According to the announcement revealing the teaser trailer, Fear Paris is an “ambitious new film of unique interconnected stories exploring the dark underbelly of the city of lights.” Additionally, “the genre bending and connected stories will present a Paris unlike anything seen before.”
The bizarre trailer features mimes, hooded figures, a key card dripping blood, and shoot-outs.
Wes Anderson (Moonrise Kingdom, The Darjeeling Limited) is back with another quirky comedy, The Grand Budapest Hotel. The cast is led by Bill Murray and Ralph Fiennes and includes Tony Revolori, Jason Schwartzman, Jude Law, Owen Wilson, Saoirse Ronan, Edward Norton, and Adrien Brody.
The Grand Budapest Hotel opens in theaters on March 7, 2014.

The Grand Budapest Hotel recounts the adventures of Gustave H, a legendary concierge at a famous European hotel between the wars, and Zero Moustafa, the lobby boy who becomes his most trusted friend. The story involves the theft and recovery of a priceless Renaissance painting and the battle for an enormous family fortune — all against the back-drop of a suddenly and dramatically changing Continent.

Season two of Rectify has begun filming, according to SundanceTV. The drama series will air its 10-episode second season this summer, with filming now underway in Griffin, Georgia.
Ray McKinnon created, writes, and executive produces the series. The cast is led by Aden Young and includes Abigail Spencer, J. Smith-Cameron, Luke Kirby, Clayne Crawford, Adelaide Clemens, Bruce McKinnon, and Jake Austin Walker.
The Rectify Plot:
Season one of Rectify depicted the first week in the life of Daniel Holden (Aden Young) following his release from death row to a world he no longer understood, to build a life he may not be allowed to keep. As Daniel tried to find a place in his reconfigured family and within a community deeply divided about his return, his presence reignited old wounds and introduced unexpected complications for those closest to him.
In season two we find Daniel unsure if he wants to live or die, if he’s guilty or innocent and if it ultimately even matters. The season will track Daniel’s journey to find meaning in his life in the face of a dangerous and unpredictable world. It will also delve into the lives changed indelibly by Daniel’s return.
