Something’s Fishy About Nat Geo Wild’s New Show

Nat Geo Fish Bowl

Nat Geo Wild has just made a major casting announcement for their new reality event, Fish Bowl. The four-hour event will star “Goldie,” a new player in the world of fish bowl antics. The golden-faced actress nabbed the lead role, creating a bit of controversy while doing so.

Geoff Daniels, EVP and General Manager of Nat Geo WILD, discussed the decision to hire an unknown in the lead role.

“Goldie showed such promise in early casting auditions that we felt confident in the aquatic wonder’s ability to entertain and captivate an audience, for four long hours, on a relatively young network, while the most-watched television event of the year just happens to be taking place,” explained Daniels.

Fish Bowl will premiere on Super Bowl Sunday, airing from 6pm to 10pm ET/PT on Nat Geo Wild.

Commenting on her casting, Goldie reportedly said, “I’m comfortable in my own scales and have no doubt the Fish Bowl will be the talk of the town.”

The Plot:

In the vein of other reality series, where the daily drama of a character’s life plays out in a “fishbowl” setting, Goldie will swim about her daily business in an actual fishbowl. Without filters and with remarkable candor, Goldie navigates through an average day in the life of a goldfish. When asked how this stacks up to her competition, Goldie offered, “Can Bruno Mars pack all of that into his halftime show? Right, I didn’t think so, blub, blurb, bubble.”

HBO Finally Releases a ‘Game of Thrones’ Season Four Trailer

HBO recently announced the fourth season premiere date of the critically acclaimed, award-winning series Game of Thrones and now we finally get a look at actual clips from the upcoming season with this just-released trailer. It doesn’t look as though life has calmed down for any of the central characters in the series based on George R.R. Martin’s bestselling book series “A Song of Ice and Fire,” and I’d advise those who haven’t read the books to remember not to fall too much in love with any particular character. You’ve been warned.

Game of Thrones returns on April 6, 2014 at 9pm ET/PT.

What can audiences expect from the new action series Black Sails sailing onto the small screen on January 25th at 9pm ET/PT on STARZ? According to this new video promoting the upcoming premiere, Black Sails will feature a pirate world unlike most we’ve seen on television or in movies.

No one will have a parrot riding around on their shoulder and unlike some current television pirates or Johnny Depp’s Captain Jack Sparrow, don’t expect the pirates of Black Sails to be wearing any guyliner.

The Plot:

The eight-episode first season of Black Sails centers on the tales of Captain Flint and his men. Toby Stephens (Die Another Day) stars as Flint, the most brilliant and most feared pirate captain of his day, who takes on a fast-talking young addition to his crew who goes by the name John Silver. Threatened with extinction on all sides, they fight for the survival of New Providence Island, the most notorious criminal haven of its day – a debauched paradise teeming with pirates, prostitutes, thieves and fortune seekers, a place defined by both its enlightened ideals and its stunning brutality.

Starz will be premiering season two of the dramatic series Da Vinci’s Demons on March 22, 2014 at 9pm ET/PT. Starring Tom Riley as Leonardo da Vinci, the series debuted in 2013 to Starz’ highest numbers for a first season premiere. Created by David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight trilogy screenwriter, Man of Steel writer), Da Vinci’s Demons‘ second season will consist of ten new episodes.

The cast also includes Laura Haddock as Lucrezia Donati; Elliot Cowan as the de factor ruler of Florence, Lorenzo Medici; Lara Pulver as Clarice Orsini; and Blake Ritson as the ruthless and unwavering Count Girolamo Riario, nephew of Pope Sixtus IV.

The Plot: Brilliant and passionate, the 25-year- old Leonardo da Vinci is an artist, inventor, swordsman, lover, dreamer, and idealist. As a free thinker, with intellect and talents that are almost superhuman, he struggles to live within the confines of his own reality and time.

Season two of Da Vinci’s Demons finds Florence thrown into chaos in the wake of the Pazzi conspiracy. Lorenzo is gravely ill and Leonardo da Vinci must push the limits of his mind and body to defend the city against the forces of Rome. While the Medicis go to unthinkable lengths to deal with new threats, da Vinci continues on his quest to find the fabled Book of Leaves and uncover the secret history of his mother.

He’ll come to realize that he has lethal competition in his quest — new enemies who may be even worse than the forces of Pope Sixtus. His search will take him to faraway lands and force him to reevaluate everything he knew about the world and his own history.

Focus Features has just released twp new featurettes in support of the critically acclaimed, award-nominated drama Dallas Buyers Club. Matthew McConaughey, Jared Leto, and Jennifer Garner discuss getting into their characters in these new videos.

The Plot:

Matthew McConaughey stars in Dallas Buyers Club as real-life Texas cowboy Ron Woodroof, whose free-wheeling life was overturned in 1985 when he was diagnosed as HIV-positive and given 30 days to live. These were the early days of the AIDS epidemic, and the U.S. was divided over how to combat the virus. Ron, now shunned and ostracized by many of his old friends, and bereft of government-approved effective medicines, decided to take matters in his own hands, tracking down alternative treatments from all over the world by means both legal and illegal.

Bypassing the establishment, the entrepreneurial Woodroof joined forces with an unlikely band of renegades and outcasts – who he once would have shunned – and established a hugely successful “buyers’ club.” Their shared struggle for dignity and acceptance is a uniquely American story of the transformative power of resilience.
