Because nothing says happy holidays better than a bloody poster for an upcoming horror movie, we’ve got this Devil’s Due international poster to show off. 20th Century Fox is releasing Devil’s Due, directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin & Tyler Gillett, in theaters on January 17, 2014.
The Plot: After a mysterious, lost night on their honeymoon, a newlywed couple finds themselves dealing with an earlier-than-planned pregnancy. While recording everything for posterity, the husband begins to notice odd behavior in his wife that they initially write off as nerves, but, as the months pass, it becomes evident that the dark changes to her body and mind have a much more sinister origin.

In honor of today’s release of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, Sesame Street’s Cookie Monster stars in “Lord of the Crumbs (Lord of the Rings Parody).”
The Plot:
“Legend speaks of a dessert unimaginably sweet and delicious, and when it was destroyed all that remained was the dessert’s powerful recipe. It remained in the hands of a monster named Gobble for a long time, but when it disappeared, all cookies on Monster Earth disappeared along with it. It is up to Cookie Monster to use his memory and remember the recipe in order to bake the cookies in the fires of Mount Crumb.”
“Six seasons and a movie” – that’s the promise made in the epic new trailer for season five of NBC’s Community. Season five launches on January 2, 2014 with a special one-hour premiere kicking off at 8pm and promises a return to the Community of seasons one through three, with series creator Dan Harmon (fired after season three which led to a disappointing season four) back on board as executive producer.
The Plot: This ensemble comedy centers around a tight-knit group of friends who all met at what is possibly the world’s worst educational institution – Greendale Community College.
At the center of the group is Jeff Winger (Joel McHale, The Soup), a fast-talking lawyer who was caught with a phony college degree. Winger was dis-barred until he could earn a legitimate degree and chose Greendale, thinking he could breeze through the mediocre school without a hitch. He, however, soon found himself the reluctant leader of a disparate group of misfits, all stuck at Greendale for different reasons.
The study group includes Britta Perry (Gillian Jacobs), who dropped out of high school to “change the world” and soon found herself in her thirties with no marketable skills; Shirley Bennett (Yvette Nicole Brown), a religious housewife who landed at Greendale after a messy divorce and is now blossoming into a headstrong entrepreneur; Abed Nadir (Danny Pudi), a socially awkward, but well-meaning, pop culture savant; Annie Edison (Alison Brie), a high-strung perfectionist; Troy Barnes (Donald Glover), a former high school football star still trying to find his way; and, Ben Chang (Ken Jeong), a former Spanish teacher who is either insane or an evil genius, or both.
At Greendale’s helm is Dean Pelton (Jim Rash), an administrator whose ineptitude is matched only by his love of the school and his devotion to his students.

Showtime’s critically acclaimed comedy series Episodes has been renewed for a fourth season. The network’s President of Entertainment David Nevins made it official, announcing the return of the series starring Emmy nominee Matt LeBlanc, Stephen Mangan, and Tamsin Greig.

Season three – premiering Sunday, January 12, 2014 at 10:30pm ET/PT – picks up with Sean (Mangan) and Beverly (Greig), the English couple whose hit U.K. sitcom is remade for U.S. audiences and corrupted beyond recognition, back together but they soon discover that it’s not so easy to heal old wounds. Things get no easier for Matt this year as his career and ego continue to be pummeled.
New guest stars include Chris Diamantopoulos (24) in a season-long arc; Roger Bart (Revenge) appears in four episodes as LeBlanc’s agent; along with Tracy Spiridakos (Revolution) as a family member of actress Morning Randolph (Mircea Monroe).
American Hustle was the only film to earn a nomination in each of the seven official categories.
“Australian performers and practitioners are consistently acknowledged as among the world’s best screen talent by international screen organisations such as AMPAS and BAFTA,” said AACTA CEO Damian Trewhella. “It is vital that the Australian screen industry participates in this global conversation and has an opportunity to recognise the talents of both local and international peers through the Australian Academy’s International Awards.”
“Each year our AACTA International Chapter votes to award the season’s most accomplished performers and practitioners and, as always, it’s fascinating to observe the consensus and the distinction amongst the perspectives of the Australian screen industry and that of their international counterparts,” added Trewhella.
Winners will be announced at the 3rd AACTA International Awards to be held on January 10, 2014 in Los Angeles.

Beyonce and Parkwood Entertainment/Columbia Records took pretty much everyone by surprise by releasing BEYONCÉ via iTunes at midnight on December 12, 2013. Her fifth studio album, which features 14 new songs along with 17 videos shot around the world during her Mrs. Carter Show World Tour, was launched in secret without any hype or advance notice.
“I see music,” explained Beyoncé about releasing her first visual album. “It’s more than just what I hear. When I’m connected to something, I immediately see a visual or a series of images that are tied to a feeling or an emotion, a memory from my childhood, thoughts about life, my dreams or my fantasies. And they’re all connected to the music.”
Beyonce chose to release this new album in secret because she wanted to “deliver music and visual content directly to her fans when she wants to and how she wants to, with no filter.”
“I didn’t want to release my music the way I’ve done it,” said Beyonce. “I am bored with that. I feel like I am able to speak directly to my fans. There’s so much that gets between the music, the artist and the fans. I felt like I didn’t want anybody to give the message when my record is coming out. I just want this to come out when it’s ready and from me to my fans.”
Among those collaborating on the project were JAY Z, Timbaland, Justin Timberlake, Pharrell Williams, Drake, The Dream, Sia, Ryan Tedder, Miguel, Frank Ocean, Hit Boy, Ammo, Boots, Detail, Jake Nava, Hype Williams, Terry Richardson, Melina Matsoukas, Jonas Akerlund, Ricky Saiz, Pierre Debusschere, @lilinternet, Noah “40” Shebib, Francesco Carrozzini, Caroline Polachek, Ed Burke, Bill Kirstein and Todd Tourso.

Will Arnett, Liam Neeson, Katherine Heigl, and Maya Rudolph lend their voices to the 3d animated comedy, The Nut Job, which has just released a brand new trailer. The set-up reminds me of Over the Hedge and the fact it’s hitting theaters in early January signals this one’s likely to wind up in the DVD discount bin shortly after its release. Still, families looking for some entertainment in theaters in early 2014 may find The Nut Job one of the few movies appropriate for kids.
The Nut Job is opening in theaters on January 17, 2014.
The Plot:
In animated 3D, The Nut Job is an action-packed comedy in fictional Oakton that follows the travails of Surly (voiced by Will Arnett), a mischievous squirrel, and his rat friend Buddy, who plan a nut store heist of outrageous proportions and unwittingly find themselves embroiled in a much more complicated and hilarious adventure.
