Evanna Lynch (best known for playing Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter films), Pretty Little Liars‘ Ian Harding, and Carol Kane star in the dramatic movie Dynamite: A Cautionary Tale which just began shooting in New York. The film marks the directorial debut of Tate Steinsiek, an SFX makeup artist who appeared on Syfy’s Face Off.

The cast of the crime thriller also includes Brendan Sexton III, Leo Fitzpatrick, Chaske Spencer, Polly Draper, and Ray Santiago.

“We are thrilled to be bringing this inspiring true story to life. It’s an important tale of one man’s downward spiral and ultimate redemption,” stated producer Ash Christian of Ironclad Pictures. “Having the ability to produce films with an uplifting message has always been a goal for our company, and we hope the film’s story and heart resonates with audiences around the world.”

The Plot:

Based on a true story, Dynamite follows family man Max Bornstein who was a full-time dope fiend working within the underground, highly illegal pornography industry in 1968’s New York City. While running books and films to delivery points and mob headquarters around the east coast, Max had the Feds on his tail. But even in the wake of a federal investigation, Max’s truest worry was his wife and two young children, a family kept in the dark about Max’s reality and the walls of it caving in around him.

As Max battles his consuming addiction, dissolving family unit, and the growing suspicion about his drug use amongst his associates, Max watches helplessly as his well-crafted reality falls to pieces, leaving him searching for the spaces in between.

The new song is also substantially better lyrically, which, given the lyrics of “Friday,” wasn’t a difficult feat to accomplish.

Music Spotlight: “Gasoline and Matches” by LeAnn Rimes, Rob Thomas, Jeff Beck

The official music video for “Gasoline and Matches” written by Buddy Miller and Julie Miller and performed by LeAnn Rimes, Rob Thomas, and Jeff Beck, was shot entirely on iPhones. Director Ian Padgham put together 8,000 still photos for this stop-motion music video spotlighting the song off of Rimes’ Spitfire album.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Padgham says the process was very basic but time-consuming. “There are certainly plenty of applications like Vine that are free that people could use to just do the same thing, shot by shot. It takes a lot of work and thought, but anyone can get a phone or camera and start making their own similar things. I hope it inspires people to do their own stuff. You don’t need a lot of special tools, and it’s getting back to that very simple, very handmade way of producing art,” explained Padgham.
