Nickelodeon Renews ‘Instant Mom’ for Season Two

Instant Mom Renewed for Season 2
Stephanie (Tia Mowry-Hardrict), Maggie (Sheryl Lee Ralph), Charlie (Michael Boatman), Gabrielle (Sydney Park), James (Tylen Jacob Williams), Aaron (Damarr Calhoun) in INSTANT MOM on NickMom.

Nickelodeon has added six additional episodes to season one of Instant Mom and has renewed the series for a second season. The comedy series stars Tia Mowry-Hardrict and airs on both Nick at Nite and NickMom.

Russell Hicks, Nickelodeon’s President of Content Development and Production, announced the renewal, stating: “In just a couple months since its debut, Instant Mom has resonated remarkably well with the Nick at Nite and NickMom audiences. We’re thrilled to witness its early success alongside See Dad Run and families enthusiastic about Tia and an undeniably charismatic cast.”

Since its September 29, 2013 premiere, Instant Mom has been averaging 1.2 million viewers.

The Plot:

The series follows Stephanie as she struggles to maintain some sense of her fun-loving, slightly irresponsible life while managing being a full-time stepmom. Sheryl Lee Ralph (Moesha) stars as Stephanie’s mother Maggie, and rounding out the cast are Charlie’s three kids played by Sydney Park, Tylen Jacob Williams, and Damarr Calhoun.

Girls will kick off its third season on January 12, 2014 with back-to-back new episodes beginning at 10pm. And to put you in the mood for more of Hannah and her friends, HBO’s released this new minute and a half trailer for the upcoming season. Led by series creator Lena Dunham, the cast of season three includes Jemima Kirke, Zosia Mamet, Allison Williams, Adam Driver, and Alex Karpovsky.

Lifetime Schedules the New Pageant Series ‘Kim of Queens’

Lifetime’s new docuseries Kim of Queens will debut on the network on January 1, 2014 at 10pm ET/PT before moving to its regular time slot of Tuesdays at 10pm. The series stars successful pageant coach Kim Gravel who, along with her mom and sister, will help transform “diamonds in the rough” into confident women.

Kim of Queens is produced by Relativity Television with Tom Forman, Brad Bishop, Bryan O’Donnell, Colleen Conway Grogan, Mary Donahue, and Eli Lehrer executive producing.

The Plot: While applying her homegrown philosophy that beauty is only skin deep, Kim, with her larger-than-life personality that is peppered with tough love and plenty of humor, searches for young talent that many might pass over on first glance. As Kim likes to say, “You can wear a burlap sack, girl; but if you got it on the inside, it shines on the outside.”

At the young age of 19, this former self-proclaimed “ugly duckling” was crowned the youngest Miss Georgia in the pageant’s history. Kim will be the first to say that winning Miss Georgia was great, but losing Miss America made her who she is today. Now, as the owner and CEO of her business, the renowned Pageant Place, Kim shares her incredible talents and over-the-top, engaging personality with the young, talented hopefuls seeking her sage advice that has proven to take young girls to the top.

Gimme Shelter Movie Poster

Vanessa Hudgens is the focus of the new poster for Roadside Attractions’ Gimme Shelter from writer/director Ron Krauss. Coming to theaters on January 24, 2014, the cast also includes Rosario Dawson, Brendan Fraser, James Earl Jones, Ann Dowd, and Dascha Polanco.

The Plot:

Based on a true story that centers on 16-year-old Agnes “Apple” Bailey (Vanessa Hudgens), Gimme Shelter uncovers the struggle for survival and the hope of redemption through the harsh realities of life on the streets. As a pregnant teenager, Apple’s journey plummets her into a perilous struggle until finding salvation in a suburban shelter for homeless teens.

With provisions of unprecedented comfort, a collective sisterhood connection, and female empowerment, the shelter elevates Apple to break the shackles of her past and inspires her to embrace the future with clarity, maturity, and hope not only for herself but her unborn child.

The Wolf of Wall Street First Clip: Work for Me

Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street almost got pushed to 2014 however cuts have been made to give the film a reasonable running time and Paramount Pictures has set it for a December 25, 2013 release. And now the studio’s released this first clip from the much-anticipated, likely Oscar contender featuring Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill, and Jon Bernthal discussing how to smuggle cash out of the country.
 
Based on Jordan Belfort’s book, The Wolf of Wall Street also stars Margot Robbie, Matthew McConaughey, Jon Favreau, Kyle Chandler, Rob Reiner and Jean Dujardin.
 
The Plot:
 
Revered filmmaker Martin Scorsese directs the story of New York stockbroker Jordan Belfort (Leonardo DiCaprio). From the American dream to corporate greed, Belfort goes from penny stocks and righteousness to IPOs and a life of corruption in the late 80s. Excess success and affluence in his early twenties as founder of the brokerage firm Stratton Oakmont warranted Belfort the title – “The Wolf of Wall Street.”
 
Money. Power. Women. Drugs. Temptations were for the taking and the threat of authority was irrelevant. For Jordan and his wolf pack, modesty was quickly deemed overrated and more was never enough.

Liam Hemsworth finished up the big The Hunger Games: Catching Fire pre-release press rounds with a visit to Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. There, he talked about the new Hunger Games movie and his finger injury, and he raced around the hallways on a beer cooler scooter with the goal of beating Fallon and claiming “The Hemsworth Cup.”

Chi McBride is Officially a Hawaii Five-0 Regular

CBS announced Chi McBride has been elevated to ‘series regular’ status on Hawaii Five-0. Since joining the show on the season four premiere, McBride’s character (Captain Lou Grover) has become one of the more popular supporting characters on the series.
 
“Well, I know this sounds corny, but the only thing I ever wanted in my career was to be on CBS, the home of my idol Jackie Gleason,” said McBride. “I finally made it to the Tiffany network on Golden Boy, shooting scenes on the same stage where The Honeymooners was filmed. CBS graciously invited me to be a member of the cast of Hawaii Five-0, and it’s been wonderful. The cast, crew and production have been so welcoming to me, and so my love affair with CBS continues.”
 
“After his first guest spot, we knew we had something special here with Chi playing Captain Lou Grover,” said Peter Lenkov, Executive Producer. “He just fit seamlessly into the fabric of HAWAII FIVE-0 and viewers are enjoying the spirited, if sometimes antagonistic, interaction between him and McGarrett. We are so thrilled to welcome Chi into our Ohana.”
 
Hawaii Five-0 airs on Friday nights at 9pm ET/PT.

Jimmy Fallon Returns to Host ‘Saturday Night Live’

Saturday Night Live‘s going to finish up 2013 with the return of a former SNL cast member, the third appearance of an Anchorman star, and the 13th appearance of a popular host. Kicking off the last three episodes of December is Paul Rudd who’ll handle hosting duties on December 7, 2013. For Rudd’s third time as host he’ll be joined by two-timers One Direction whose new album, Midnight Memories, will hit stores on November 25th.

On December 14, 2013 John Goodman will be back on the SNL stage for his 13th time as host. Goodman’s promoting his role in the Amazon.com series Alpha House and as part of the supporting cast of Inside Llewyn Davis. Kings of Leon will be that episode’s musical guest, marking their third time on Saturday Night Live.

And then on December 21st buddies Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake will team up, Fallon as host and Timberlake as musical guest. Fallon, a former SNL cast member, will host for the second time while Timberlake (one of the show’s most popular guests) will be the musical act for the fifth time.

Leah Remini Guest Stars on ‘The Exes’

Leah Remini won’t be taking a vacation after showing off her moves on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars as she’s just signed on for a guest starring stint on TV Land’s The Exes. Remini (King of Queens) will have a multi-episode arc on the sitcom starring David Alan Basche, Donald Faison, Wayne Knight, and Kristen Johnston.

According to the official announcement, Remini will be playing Stuart’s sister Nicki who is described as “a tough-talking, no-nonsense, stylish and sexy woman from Staten Island whose 17-year marriage ends when she finds out her policeman husband had an affair. Nicki retreats to Manhattan to seek the comfort of her brother, only to find out he’s sharing an apartment with two guys, Phil (Faison) and Haskell (Knight), and living next door to his divorce attorney Holly (Johnston).

Unable and unwilling to keep her opinions to herself, she turns all their lives upside down as she tries to put her life back together and make a new future for herself in Manhattan.”

The Exes returns to the lineup with new episodes on December 11, 2013 at 10:30pm ET/PT.

Music Spotlight: “Neon Lights” from Demi Lovato

Demi Lovato’s just released the official music video for “Neon Lights,” the third single off of her fourth studio album Demi. In the just-unveiled video, Demi gets into the ‘neon’ theme with glowing lipstick and eye shadow. Plus, there’s some eye candy in the background in the form of shirtless dancers.

Demi debuted at the #3 spot on the Billboard 200 chart, selling 110,000 copies over its first week of release and to date has sold more than 280,000 copies since its May 2013 premiere. The first single, “Heart Attack,” made it to #10 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart,; the follow-up single, “Made in the USA,” topped out at #80.
