Well that didn’t take long, did it? CBS has pulled the comedy series We Are Men starring Jerry O’Connell, Kal Penn, and Tony Shalhoub off of their primetime schedule.

Monday nights haven’t exactly been a ratings bonanza for CBS this season, but the network’s hoping to right the ship by canceling the scheduled episodes of We Are Men after just two weeks on air. CBS issued this update as to what viewers can expect on Monday nights beginning next week:

“Effective Oct. 14, 2 Broke Girls moves to 8:30 PM, replacing We Are Men, which is no longer on the schedule. Rebroadcasts of The Big Bang Theory will air at 9:00 PM for the next two weeks. Mike & Molly returns to the schedule with its fourth season premiere, Monday, Nov. 4 (9:00-9:30 PM, ET/PT).”

There’s no word yet on the fate of the floundering 10pm drama, Hostages, starring Dylan McDermott and Toni Collette.

We Are Men is the second new series to get yanked after just a few episodes, following in the footsteps of ABC’s Lucky 7.

USA Sets Up Three New Drama Pilots

USA NetworkComplications, Rush, and The Novice have all been given cast-contingent pilots by USA Network, so says network president Chris McCumber. “These pilots illustrate our continued commitment to creating the next evolution of powerful original dramas for which USA is well known,” stated McCumber. “This particular mix of dramas comes from some of the top writers and producers in the industry, each of whom bring a distinct point of view and unique talent for developing high stakes storylines and compelling characters.”

The Details, Courtesy of USA Network:

COMPLICATIONS (working title) — After wrapping seven seasons of the popular series BURN NOTICE, Matt Nix brings his next offering to the network with this gritty medical drama. The project centers around John Ellis, a disillusioned suburban ER doctor, who finds his existence transformed when he intervenes in a drive-by shooting, saving a young boy’s life and killing one of his attackers. When he learns the boy is still marked for death he finds himself compelled to save him at any cost and discovers that his life and his outlook on medicine may never be the same.

NOVICE (working title) — It’s no secret that today’s college graduates face the most difficult job market ever. The drama NOVICE takes the audience on the journey of a young man who finds that his true calling may be a life of crime. After repeatedly trying to break into corporate America, Kyle Jones returns home to his economically struggling family and his high school restaurant job, but minimum wage isn’t going to help with his family’s debt. So, while it is out of necessity that he seizes an unexpected opportunity to make money with a Korean crime family, it appears that this new life may have its perks as well. NOVICE is written by Joe and Tony Gayton, the creators of Hell on Wheels.

RUSH (working title) — Writer/director Levine (Warm Bodies, The Wackness) along with Fox 21 and Little Engine’s Gina Matthews and Grant Scharbo (The Gates, Popular) is the team behind the fast paced Hollywood drama, RUSH. Dr. William Rush is not your average on-call doctor — he’s not attached to any hospital, he’s highly discreet no matter what the ailment as long as the client can pay his cash-only premium and the doctor can party with the best of them. He has no desire to change his life or how he lives it, until an old flame and his conscience begin to stir things up.

Taylor Swift is about to break a record. The singer/songwriter will pick up the 2013 Songwriter/Artist of the Year award from the Nashville Songwriters Association International on October 13, 2013 and as the recipient of this year’s honor, she will become the artist with the most wins with six in this category. That tops five-time winners Vince Gill and Alan Jackson.

Swift also holds the record as the youngest artist ever to be named Songwriter/Artist of the Year.

According to Swift’s label, Big Machine Records, the songwriter award is given out on an annual basis to the “most prolific and productive Nashville writers who achieved Top 30 singles during the past year.” Taylor’s most recent album, Red, has sold over 6 million copies and she’s had 14 Top 30 songs between July 2012 and June 2013.

In addition to picking up her Songwriter/Artist of the Year award, this weekend Swift will also be opening the Taylor Swift Education Center at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. The education center was made possible by the largest individual donation to the Hall of Fame in history: Taylor Swift gifted $4 million to the Country Music All of Fame and Museum’s educational program.

Per the official announcement: “The Taylor Swift Education Center, which will encompass parts of two floors and feature three classrooms, a learning lab and a state-of-the-art children’s exhibit gallery, will increase the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s educational capacity up to seven-fold (the museum previously had one classroom). The classroom spaces will be adjacent to a visible design studio; this space will feature thematic displays, e.g. dozens of instruments, and allow students to observe museum curators at work. The children’s gallery, situated on the second floor, will be a dedicated exhibit space for young patrons and will be filled with hands-on, interactive exhibits. The center will open officially on October 12(th) (classrooms and learning lab will open on that date; gallery space will open in March, 2014).”

Jimmy Fallon and The Roots can make any song better, can’t they? Case in point: Miley Cyrus‘ “We Can’t Stop” sung a cappella. This video is much, much better than Cyrus’ original music video for the dance song and…shocker…actually shows off her voice.
