‘The Monuments Men’ Shows Off a New Poster

Co-written, directed by and starring George Clooney, The Monuments Men could be one of Sony Pictures’ big Oscar pushes this year. Check out the cast in addition to Clooney: Matt Damon, Jean Dujardin, Bill Murray, John Goodman, Cate Blanchett, Hugh Bonneville, and Bob Balaban. See what I mean? And it’s heading to theaters during the awards season on December 18, 2013.

The Plot:

Based on the true story of the greatest treasure hunt in history, The Monuments Men is a dramatic thriller focusing on an unlikely World War II platoon, tasked by FDR with going into Germany to rescue artistic masterpieces from Nazi thieves and returning them to their rightful owners. It would be an impossible mission: with the art trapped behind enemy lines, and with the German army under orders to destroy everything as the Reich fell, how could these guys – seven museum directors, curators, and art historians, all more familiar with Michelangelo than the M-1 – possibly hope to succeed?

But as the Monuments Men, as they were called, found themselves in a race against time to avoid the destruction of 1000 years of culture, they would risk their lives to protect and defend mankind’s greatest achievements.

‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ Preview: Plot, Cast, and Trailer

Andy Samberg and Andre Braugher lead the cast of Fox’s workplace/cop comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine. The half-hour comedy will premiere on September 17, 2013.

Andy Samberg stars as Jake Peralta, Andre Braugher plays Ray Holt, Melissa Fumero is Amy Santiago, and Terry Crews is Terry Jeffords. Joe Lo Truglio plays Charles Boyle, Stephanie Beatriz is Rosa Diaz, and Chelsea Peretti stars as Gina Linetti.

The Plot: Brooklyn Nine-Nine is a new single-camera ensemble comedy about what happens when a talented, but carefree, detective gets a new captain with a lot to prove. Detective Jake Peralta is a good enough cop that he’s never had to work that hard or follow the rules too closely. Perhaps because he has the best arrest record among his colleagues, he’s been enabled – if not indulged – throughout his entire career. That is, until the precinct gets a new commanding officer, Captain Ray Holt, who reminds this hotshot cop to respect the badge.

Jake may have collared more criminals, but Detective Amy Santiago is close behind, and she’s keenly aware of how many arrests she needs to close the gap. Amy grew up with seven brothers who were all cops. She’s the first girl in the family to put on a police uniform, and suffice it to say: she’s extremely competitive…about everything.

Also working cases in Brooklyn’s 99th precinct is Sergeant Terry Jeffords, a linebacker of a man who’s lost his nerve, not because he’s a wimp, but because a year ago, his wife had twin baby girls – Cagney and Lacey – and he can’t imagine not seeing them grow up. Detective Charles Boyle, who idolizes Jake, is the precinct’s workhorse; he’s not that brilliant, he’s not physically gifted, but he tries harder than anyone else. Charles pines for Detective Rosa Diaz, with whom he stands no chance at all. Rosa is simultaneously tough, sexy and scary as hell. She’s vocally opinionated about everything.

Cleaning up everyone’s mess is Gina Linetti, the eccentric, civilian office manager who somehow gets involved in everyone’s business. Together, these tightly knit – or is it tightly wound? – cops interrogate suspects, arrest perps and solve murders. But, ultimately, Brooklyn Nine-Nine is a workplace comedy that’s not really about the job. It’s about the men and women behind the badge – singing karaoke, grabbing a beer and hitting on each other – all while protecting the fine people of Brooklyn.

New Poster from Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa

Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa PosterApparently not everyone is over the whole Jackass thing as Johnny Knoxville is back with Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa. Directed by Jeff Tremaine (Jackass 3D, Jackass Number Two), Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa was written by Tremaine, Knoxville, and Spike Jonze.

The Plot:

86 year-old Irving Zisman is on a journey across America with the most unlikely companions, his 8 year-old Grandson Billy in Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa. This October, the signature Jackass character Irving Zisman (Johnny Knoxville) and Billy (Jackson Nicholl) will take movie audiences along for the most insane hidden camera road trip ever captured on camera.

Along the way Irving will introduce the young and impressionable Billy to people, places and situations that give new meaning to the term childrearing. The duo will encounter male strippers, disgruntled child beauty pageant contestants (and their equally disgruntled mothers), funeral home mourners, biker bar patrons and a whole lot of unsuspecting citizens.

Real people in unreal situations, making for one really messed up comedy.

Paramount Pictures is opening Jackass Presents: Bad Grandpa in theaters on October 25, 2013.

‘Nsync Reunites at the MTV Video Music Awards

Justin Timberlake brought class back to the VMAs, accepting the MTV Video Music Awards Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award and earning three additional Moonman awards for Video of the Year, Best Direction, and Best Editing. And in one of the show’s worst kept secrets, Timberlake joined his old ‘Nsync mates as part of his career highlight medley. While the onstage reunion of ‘Nsync was short (and not everyone in the group seems to have retained their ability to dance), it was very cool to see Timberlake, Joey Fatone, Lance Bass, JC Chasez, and Chris Kirkpatrick at least temporarily back together.
