True Blood Season 6 – In the Weeks Ahead Video

Honestly, this has not been my favorite season of True Blood. Character arcs have gone crazy and there are only one or two storylines this season that leave me wondering what’s up episode to episode. But for those who are into this season of the HBO vampire series, the network’s put together a recap of sorts as well as a brief look at what’s ahead for the remainder of season six.

Travis Fimmel and Clive Standen ‘Vikings’ Interview

Travis Fimmel is apparently a man of few words in real life, similar to his character (‘Ragnar Lothbrok’) on the History Channel’s critically acclaimed series Vikings, so it was a good thing that at the 2013 San Diego Comic-Con Fimmel was teamed up with the eloquent, enthusiastic Clive Standen to discuss the popular show. Production is currently underway on season two, and in fact, the cast who made the trip to San Diego were turning right back around to get to work on remote locations in Ireland.

Filming in an out-of-the-way location in Ireland has its challenges; however, Standen says it brought the entire cast and crew closer together. “Everyone is there for each other and it doesn’t matter what job you do, everyone’s treated exactly the same way. A lot of that is down to him [Travis]. He’s got such a great Australian work ethic,” explained Standen. “If he sees someone struggling up the hill with a camera, he’ll be the first to grab it off their back and carry it for them.”

And, of course, while neither Fimmel nor Standen would give away any second-season spoilers, they were able to provide some background into their work on the series, additional research they took part in to play Vikings, and handling very intense fight sequences.

Jay Ryan Talks About ‘Beauty and the Beast’

Beauty and the Beast star Jay Ryan says that season one’s version of the ‘Beast’ makeup and prosthetics actually didn’t make him feel beastly. Strangely enough, Ryan says that once the make-up process was completed he turned into a joker on set.

“I don’t know if it was the old make-up design and maybe the new make-up design will do something different, but the old make-up I kind of felt like Jim Carrey in The Mask,” said Ryan. “I would turn into this kind of crazy character until they called ‘action’. So, it’ll be interesting to see what alter-ego comes out with this new design.”

And in our interview from the 2013 San Diego Comic-Con, Ryan also said that the alterations made to the make-up for season two makes the Beast look scarier. Unfortunately, fans will have to wait until October for the return of Beauty and the Beast on The CW to see exactly what Ryan is talking about.

Game of Thrones In Memoriam: Stabbings, Beheadings, and More

HBO could quite possibly have topped itself when it comes to promotional videos for its original programs with this “In Memoriam” video from Game of Thrones. The 2 minute 48 second clip speeds through deaths for the first minute and a half before slowing down to pay tribute to the deaths of major (or semi-major) characters – including Ned Stark (Sean Bean), Robb Stark (Richard Madden), and Catelyn Stark (Michelle Fairley) – over the show’s first three seasons. Even two of the Stark’s Direwolves get a moment of remembrance in this clever compilation of deaths from the show.

Mike Myers Set to Direct Supermensch Documentary

Talent Manager Shep GordonMike Myers is prepared to make his directorial debut with the A&E IndieFilms documentary Supermensch. The documentary while cover the life of talent manager Shep Gordon who Myers first encountered when he was attempting to use an Alice Cooper song in Wayne’s World. Their friendship didn’t start off on a high note as Gordon played hardball over the use of the song, however they worked their way through that conflict and have been friends for 22 years.

“I met Shep Gordon in 1991 on the set of Wayne’s World. I thought he was a perfect combination of Brian Epstein, Marshall McLuhan and Mr Magoo. I’ve been trying to get Shep to agree to let me make a movie about him for 10 years. Last year he finally he said yes. I loved him like a brother before we started making this film and now having sifted through his life and his legacy, I love him even more” stated Myers.

“We are excited by the passion Mike Myers has brought to this project,” added Bob DeBitetto, President of A+E Studios. “Shep Gordon is known throughout Hollywood as the nicest guy to know and the epitome of friendship in an industry devoid of genuine friends – but to hear Mike say it, he’s a Supermensch.”

The Details on Shep Gordon [Courtesy of A&E IndieFilms]:

Capitalist, protector, hedonist, pioneer, showman, shaman . . . SUPERMENSCH.

Shep Gordon is the consummate Hollywood insider. Though he isn’t a household name, Gordon has become a beacon in the industry, beloved by the countless stars he has encountered throughout his storied career. Shep is known for managing the careers of Alice Cooper as well as stints with Blondie, Luther Vandross and Raquel Welch, among others – a career that began with a chance encounter in 1968 with Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix. He even found time to invent the “Celebrity Chef.” Though the chef as star is part of the culture now, it took Shep’s imagination, and his moral outrage at how the chefs were being treated, to monetize the culinary arts into the multi-billion dollar industry it is today. Personal friends with the Dalai Lama through his philanthropic endeavors with the Tibet Fund and the guardian of four children, Gordon’s unlikely story will be told by those who know him best, his pals, including Alice Cooper, Michael Douglas, Sylvester Stallone, Anne Murray, Willie Nelson, Emeril Lagasse and more.
