Among those who will be participating in the Hannibal panel are executive producer Bryan Fuller (Pushing Daisies), director David Slade (The Twilight Saga: Eclipse), executive producer Martha De Laurentiis (Red Dragon), and actor Hugh Dancy, so says Gaumont International Television’s CEO Katie O’Connell. The panel will talk about season one’s key moments and provide insight into where Hannibal‘s heading in season two.
“The core audience of Hannibal, some of whom call themselves Fannibals, have been incredibly passionate and enthusiastic about the show and we are honored to join those Fannibals attending San Diego Comic-Con, where passion and enthusiasm are always on the menu,” said executive producer Fuller.
“We are thrilled to be attending Comic-Con and supporting our amazing who have been so loyal every step of the way,” added O’Connell. “Hannibal‘s success is definitely due to the dedicated supporters we have around the world and we can’t wait to participate Comic-Con – the best event for fans everywhere.”
The Plot:Hannibal is a one-hour drama series for NBC exploring the unique and riveting early relationship of Thomas Harris’s classic character renowned psychiatrist Dr. Hannibal Lecter and his patient, a young FBI criminal profiler named Will Graham who is haunted by his ability to empathize with serial killers. Well-known showrunner Bryan Fuller is executive producing.
Based on the Icelandic film Either Way and written/directed by David Gordon Green (Your Highness, Pineapple Express), Prince Avalanche starring Paul Rudd and Emile Hirsch arrives in theaters on August 9, 2013. The film earned its director the Silver Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival and marks Green’s return to quieter, character-driven stories as he delivered with Snow Angels and All the Real Girls.
The Plot:
An odd couple of sorts, meditative and stern Alvin and his girlfriend’s brother, Lance, dopey and insecure, leave the city behind to spend the summer in solitude repainting traffic lines down the center of a country highway ravaged by wildfire. As they sink into their job in the remarkable landscape, they learn more than they want to about each other and their own limitations.
An unlikely friendship develops through humor and nasty exchanges, leading to surprising affection.
The cougar tale Two Mothers starring Naomi Watts and Robin Wright has a new title and a new trailer. Two Mothers is now Adore, but it remains the story of two mothers who sleep with each other’s sons.
The moms are played by Naomi Watts and Robin Wright, with the roles of the sons tackled by Xavier Samuel (best known for his role as an evil vampire in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse) and James Frecheville (Animal Kingdom). Adore was directed by Anne Fontaine and was adapted from Doris Lessing’s novella by Christopher Hampton (Dangerous Liaisons).
Exclusive Media’s releasing Adore in theaters on September 6th, 2013.
The Plot:
Adore is a sensual and provocative drama about two lifelong friends who find unexpected happiness in relationships that cross the bounds of convention.
Because we can never have too many singing competition series, NBC’s bringing back The Sing-Off later this year. The a cappella series originally aired in a very limited run way, way back in December 2009 and then went on to become a weekly series in 2011. NBC says fans have been clamoring for the return of the series and they listened, and now The Sing-Off will air as a “holiday strip over several nights” at the end of the year.
Paul Telegdy, President, Alternative and Late Night Programming, NBC made the announcement, saying, “To all of the loyal fans of The Sing-Off who asked us to bring the show back – we heard you loud and clear! No other singing competition so genuinely showcases the unique talents and creative camaraderie of the best a cappella singers in the country, putting The Sing Off into a class of its own. The distinctive sounds and boundless spirit of these groups make the perfect soundtrack for the holidays.”
“The Sing-Off showcases great talent and a musical form I love,” added executive producer Mark Burnett. “It’s very special, and we’re excited to be involved.”
The Plot: The program showcases the country’s top a cappella groups performing popular songs like viewers have never heard them before. As before, The Sing-Off has no lip-synching, back-up bands or safety net. They are singing with dreams of walking away with the ultimate prize — a recording contract and $100,000. The host and a team of celebrity judges who will critique the singing groups will be named later.
Artsploitation Films is hoping horror fans will want to take a trip down Toad Road this October. The winner of Fantasia International Film Festival’s Best Director and Best Actor awards will be getting a theatrical release later this year, followed by a release on DVD and VOD. Written and directed by Jason Banker and starring James Davidson, Whitleigh Higuera, and Sara Anne Jones, Toad Road was executive produced by Elijah Wood and his SpectreVision partners Daniel Noah and Josh C. Waller.
“There is a nihilism and decay present within the characters of Toad Road that makes the film mesmerizing. The horror comes not from just a mystical location and inevitable conclusion but a very real, very dark place in each of their hearts. It’s a unique film that must be seen,” stated Brian Sokel, vice president of Artsploitation Films.
Added Elijah Wood, “We created our company to explore and expand the definition of the horror genre. Toad Road‘s blend of documentary and nightmarish hallucination speaks to this perfectly. It provides a unique and disturbing portal into self-destructive behavior that barrels horrifically out of control. We’re proud to present this extremely powerful and resonant film.”
The Plot:
Toad Road is a local urban legend about a path in the woods rumored to contain the 7 gates that lead to hell. The film follows a group of friends with few inhibitions and no boundaries perilously mixing drug use with self-discovery. In Toad Road, verité footage, drug use, drunken pranks, and personal issues comprise a disturbing portrait of contemporary youth culture where the lines between perception and reality are blurred with frightening results.
Jon Hamm as Don Draper in season 6 of 'Mad Men' - Photo Credit: Jamie Trueblood/AMCAMC’s Mad Men finished up season six on June 23, 2013 by setting a new season finale record. According to AMC, the critically acclaimed dramatic series was seen by 2.7 million viewers, 1.3 million of which were in the 25-54 age group. And overall Mad Men averaged 2.1 million viewers counting those who viewed it during its first three days on air. That number bumps up to 2.4 million when you add in those who watched it within seven days of its initial airing.
Commenting on the show’s ratings, AMC President Charlie Collier stated: “There is nothing else on television like Mad Men, and for the series in its sixth season to deliver the highest-rated finale ever — and an episode that critics and fans have already declared an instant classic — is a testament to everyone who brings this world to life. Matthew Weiner and his cast and crew have created something that continues to occupy a unique and very special place, on television and across the broader cultural landscape, and we are so proud to be a part of it.”
Mad Men was created by Matthew Weiner and now stands as the only basic cable series to ever win four consecutive Emmys in the Outstanding Drama Series category.
The Very Basics:
Set in 1960s New York, the sexy, stylized and provocative AMC drama Mad Men follows the lives of the ruthlessly competitive men and women of Madison Avenue advertising, an ego-driven world where key players make an art of the sell.
The series revolves around the conflicted world of Don Draper (Jon Hamm), the biggest ad man (and ladies man) in the business, and his colleagues at the Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce Advertising Agency. As Don makes the plays in the boardroom and the bedroom, he struggles to stay a step ahead of the rapidly changing times and the young executives nipping at his heels. The series also depicts authentically the roles of men and women in this era while exploring the true human nature beneath the guise of 1960s traditional family values.

Elton John is set to release his first new solo album in seven years on September 24, 2013. The much-anticipated The Diving Board was produced by T Bone Burnett and includes 12 songs by Elton and Bernie Taupin as well as three piano tracks by Elton.
“In many ways, I feel like I’m starting again, making records. Several years ago when beginning to work with T Bone and being in the studio with Leon Russell for The Union, I had to ask myself, ‘What kind of music do I really want to make?’, and I realized that I had to go back to go forward again,” explained Elton John. “I needed to strip away the excesses and get back to the core of what I do as an artist. That’s what The Diving Board represents. I’m incredibly excited about every aspect of this album: The performances, T Bone’s production, Bernie’s lyrics and the songs we’ve created. The Diving Board is the album I’ve been waiting to make for decades.”
“I saw Elton at the Troubadour in 1970, in a legendary week of shows. Those shows never left me,” says Burnett. “A three piece band – piano, bass, and drums, like one enormous instrument – just killing it. So we started from there. I wanted to be able to superimpose this recording over my memory of the sound and the wild intelligence of those shows. From that perspective, forty years down the road, The Diving Board is an album of music by a master at the peak of his artistic powers.”
The Diving Board Track List:
01. Oceans Away
02. Oscar Wilde Gets Out
03. A Town Called Jubilee
04. The Ballad of Blind Tom
