CeeLo Green has been busy working on his music since leaving his duties as a coach on The Voice, however he’s getting back into TV work in a big way with The CeeLo Life. TBS has just greenlit the unscripted series for a six episode run, premiering in 2014.

The new series, which may not wind up actually being called The CeeLo Life by the time it debuts, will follow CeeLo as he prepares to get Goodie Mob back together along with Big Gipp, Khujo and T-Mo, while also handling all of his other producing and recording duties. And in addition to starring in front of the camera, CeeLo will be involved in the series as an executive producer.

Announcing the series, Michael Wright, president, head of programming for TBS, TNT and Turner Classic Movies (TCM), stated: “With his distinctive voice, winning personality and remarkable ability to tap into a wide range of musical styles, CeeLo Green has risen to the top of the music industry. This new TBS series will give viewers the chance to get to know CeeLo Green, who is without a doubt one of the hardest working men in show business. The CeeLo Life is certain to be a smart, fun and funny journey packed with a lot of great music.”

“On behalf of Emerald, we are honored for this opportunity to entertain and extend the life of a long legacy of classic programming at TBS – which in our book stands for The Best Station,” said CeeLo. “Atlanta, your native sons, the Goodie Mob, will make us all proud.”

The Plot:

The CeeLo Life follows world-renowned recording artist CeeLo Green into the next stage of his career, which is ironically a blast from the past. After a long hiatus and the explosion of CeeLo’s solo music career, CeeLo now wants to share his success with the best friends with whom he started. Together, they are now bringing their legendary hip-hop group Goodie Mob back into the spotlight with their fifth album, Age Against the Machine, which is set to be released on Aug. 27.

They also have a successful Las Vegas headlining gig and an international tour on the horizon. To enjoy this ride of a lifetime, all they have to do is navigate a demanding schedule, the perks and temptations of being at the top of the music game, and twenty years of history together, all while still keeping their friendship intact.

The Goodie Mob revival, however, is just one of the many creative projects on CeeLo’s plate. He recently completed a run of performances in the musical spectacular Loberace at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. He’s also putting the finishing touches on his fourth album, which is slated for release later this year, and will be seen in the movie Can a Song Save Your Life?, starring Keira Knightley, Mark Ruffalo, and Catherine Keener. And as if that wasn’t enough, he is a partner in Emerald TV Productions and serves as Chief Creative Officer for his management company, Primary Wave.

Was this show’s renewal ever in doubt? Probably not, but CBS has made it official by announcing the renewal of Criminal Minds for the ninth season. All new episodes will air during the 2013-2014 broadcast season, with Joe Mantegna, Thomas Gibson, Shemar Moore, Matthew Gray Gubler, A.J. Cook, Kirsten Vangsness, and Jeanne Tripplehorn returning for another season.

Over season eight, Criminal Minds was Wednesday’s #1 drama in viewers with 12.24 million, according to CBS.

The Plot:

Criminal Minds revolves around an elite team of FBI profilers who analyze the country’s most twisted criminal minds, anticipating their next moves before they strike again. The Behavioral Analysis Unit’s most experienced agent is David Rossi, a founding member of the BAU, who is essential in helping the team solve new cases. The BAU team is led by Special Agent Aaron Hotchner, a strong profiler who is able to gain people’s trust and unlock their secrets.

Other members include Special Agent Derek Morgan, an expert on obsessional crimes; Special Agent Dr. Spencer Reid, a classically misunderstood genius whose social IQ is as low as his intellectual IQ is high; Jennifer “JJ” Jareau, the team’s former unit liaison-turned-profiler who recently married her longtime love; Penelope Garcia, the team’s indispensible computer wizard who helps research the cases with her unique charm; and the team’s newest member, Alex Blake, who rejoins the FBI after a stint as a university teacher and brings her linguistics expertise to the BAU.

Each member brings his or her own area of expertise to the table as they pinpoint predators’ motivations and identify their emotional triggers in an attempt to stop them.

‘Mountain Men’ Returns for Season 2

Lifetime’s Mountain Men will be back on Sunday, June 9, 2013 at 9pm for a second season of outdoor adventures. The series spotlights the very real and very deadly challenges of living off the land using every survival skill known to “stay fed, clothed…and alive.”

Details on Mountain Men:

In isolated Yaak Valley in northwest Montana, Tom Oar and his wife Nancy are racing against time to gather enough wood and food to see them through the winter. Hunting season ends in just a few short days. But hunting will have to wait; wildfires are speeding their way and their first priority is protecting their home. Living in a tinderbox cabin in the wilderness, their survival depends on fending off one life-threatening act of nature after the next—from raging firestorms and brutal, seven-month-long winters to marauding grizzly bears and deadly wolves.

For the fearless few who choose to forge a life of their own in the unforgiving wilds, every day brings a constant onslaught of new danger.

Season 2 picks up where Tom and the others left off last season. In the frozen wilds of Alaska’s Great Northern Range, bush pilot and fur trapper Marty Meierotto hopes to rebound from a disappointing trapping season, but a late-arriving winter threatens to derail him before he can even get started. In North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains, Eustace Conway has taken a hefty cash loan to save his land from a government lien. He’ll do whatever it takes to repay the loan, even as he struggles to keep trespassers and their chainsaws at bay.

This season also introduces four new Mountain Men. Rich Lewis makes his living in southwest Montana in pursuit of one of North America’s deadliest predators, the mountain lion. Ranchers depend on him and his well-trained hounds to keep the cats away from their livestock and off their land, and he is hell-bent on running off one cat in particular—Three-Toes, the lion that killed his best dog. George Michaud, a trapper devoted to Native American hunting and trapping techniques, relies on his dogsled team to navigate the treacherous terrain of Idaho’s Grand Tetons.

Rounding out the cast are Charlie Tucker, an axman-turned-mountain man who leaves the only job he’s ever known to pursue his dream of trapping fur full-time in the forests of northern Maine; and Jason Hawk, a hunter and blacksmith who is committed to a thoroughly self-sufficient life and will stop at nothing to protect his family in the harsh Arizona desert.

Up to this point each coach – Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Shakira and Usher — have been represented by the same number of competitors. But as of May 13th, the two performers overall with the least amount of votes will be eliminated.

Allegiant Book Cover

The cover to the third book in Veronica Roth’s Divergent series has been released, with author Roth revealing the creative mind behind the cover is Joel Tippie at HarperCollins. Roth posted the cover art on her website, saying she loves the covers of all three of her novels and could not be happier with this third entry in the franchise.

Roth also provided a couple of clues as to what the cover represents. One, that is not a faction symbol featured on the cover. And two, that is O’Hare at the bottom.

Work on the film version of Divergent starring Shailene Woodley and Theo James is now underway, with Summit aiming for a March 21, 2014 theatrical release. And the sequel, Insurgent, has recently signed up screenwriter Brian Duffield to work on adapting second book of the series for the big screen.

Warner Bros Pictures has revealed the first official trailer for the sci-fi thriller Gravity starring Academy Award winners Sandra Bullock and George Clooney. Set in space and directed by Alfonso Cuarón (Children of Men), Gravity will land in theaters on October 4, 2013.

The Gravity Plot:

Dr. Ryan Stone (Sandra Bullock) is a brilliant medical engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalsky (George Clooney). But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalsky completely alone—tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness. The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth…and any chance for rescue. As fear turns to panic, every gulp of air eats away at what little oxygen is left. But the only way home may be to go further out into the terrifying expanse of space.

Tobey Maguire stars as Nick Carraway in the 2013 take on The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. This new Gatsby, directed by Baz Luhrmann (Moulin Rouge, Romeo + Juliet), features Leonardo DiCaprio as Jay Gatsby, Joel Edgerton as Tom Buchanan, and Carey Mulligan as Daisy Buchanan and arrives in theaters on May 10, 2013 in 3D.

In support of the film’s release, Warner Bros Pictures has provided this interview with Maguire on his role as Nick. Maguire also discusses the research process he went through while preparing to play Nick and what it was like to work with Luhrmann and DiCaprio.

The Plot:

The Great Gatsby follows Fitzgerald-like, would-be writer Nick Carraway as he leaves the Midwest and comes to New York City in the spring of 1922, an era of loosening morals, glittering jazz, bootleg kings, and sky-rocketing stocks. Chasing his own American Dream, Nick lands next door to a mysterious, party-giving millionaire, Jay Gatsby, and across the bay from his cousin, Daisy, and her philandering, blue-blooded husband, Tom Buchanan.

It is thus that Nick is drawn into the captivating world of the super-rich, their illusions, loves, and deceits. As Nick bears witness, within and without of the world he inhabits, he pens a tale of impossible love, incorruptible dreams and high-octane tragedy, and holds a mirror to our own modern times and struggles.

Hunks Help Homeowners in ‘Honey Do’

What a great idea for a series…Hunky handymen show up at a home to help finish projects husbands ignore (or can’t do when they say they can) in TLC’s new reality series, Honey Do. Premiering on June 17, 2013 with back-to-back episodes at 10pm ET/PT, Honey Do features a ‘dream team’ of handymen who aid homeowners in completing home improvement projects.

The series will feature four good-looking carpenters: Jonathan “the foreman,” Kevin “the construction man,” Ben “the painter,” and Dan, “the handyman.”

The Plot:

In each 30-minute episode, viewers are introduced to a wife with a totally relatable problem – she’s got a “honey do” list a mile long and her husband doesn’t know where to begin. From painting the dining room and finishing the deck to snaking the toilet and swapping old can lights for a chandelier, no honey do project is too big for these guys.

In the midst of all of the breaking and building, the wife gets to kick up her feet and enjoy the pampered life, while the husband learns what it takes to be Mr. Fix it. He’ll get down, dirty and do his best to dig his way out of the doghouse, because he knows a happy wife also means a honey do list-free life.

‘MEET VERONICA AND MICHAEL’
Premieres June 17 at 10 PM (ET/PT)
Veronica has tried everything, including posting florescent orange stickers all over the house, to get her husband Michael to tend to the “honey do” list. Unfortunately for her, this is one musician whose drum sticks are the only tool he is familiar with and has no idea how to fix anything in the house. With a patio that is used as a storage space instead of an actual patio and a fireplace screaming the 70s, the guys step in to whip both Veronica’s home and her husband into shape.

‘MEET JULIE AND ADRIAN’
Premieres June 17 at 10:30 PM (ET/PT)
Julie has reminded her husband, Adrian, a million times to fix the same things, but to no avail. From the “eye-sore” of a play set in the backyard, to the sheet that has hung over their bedroom window for over 10 years, to the hoarded garage chock-full of old belongings- he just never seems to “get to it.” With a lengthy list and a husband who isn’t in a rush to take care of it, Julie calls in four hunky reinforcements to get the work done for her while teaching her husband a thing or two about handy work.

Enrico Colantoni Signs Up for Veronica Mars

The cast of the Veronica Mars movie has edged up to four confirmed members. Rob Thomas just confirmed to his Kickstarter backers (and yes, I’m one of them) that Enrico Colantoni has officially signed up to reprise his role as Keith Mars.

“There was a lot of fierce competition for the role, but I think you’ll agree that Enrico’s unique experience makes him the only man qualified for the job,” Thomas joked in the email announcement.

And here’s a video of Colantoni learning the news that he’d be back, and not as a ghost:

Thomas added, “The first time I noticed Rico was in Hope and Glory, and he was playing a kind of working class schlub, and he was the guy I wanted to watch. Then he knocked me out as this urbane playboy in Just Shoot Me. I became friends and creative partners with Dan Etheridge when we ran into each other at the Cinerama Dome, both of us catching a Galaxy Quest matinee for a third time, and Rico was breaking people’s heart as an alien. I didn’t write Keith Mars with Rico in mind, but when his name came up on a casting list, I said, ‘That’s the guy.’ We didn’t take anyone else to network. There was no plan B.”

Next, Colantoni thanked all the Kickstarter backers for their support:
