History’s in Production on Bonnie & Clyde

The History Channel LogoThe History and Lifetime miniseries Bonnie & Clyde has gone into production in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Emile Hirsch and Holliday Grainger take on the title roles in the series which is being directed by two-time Oscar® nominee Bruce Beresford (Tender Mercies, Breaker Morant). The miniseries also features Holly Hunter as Emmy Parker (Bonnie’s mother) and William Hurt as Frank Hamer (a Texas Ranger who pursues the Barrow gang). Bonnie & Clyde marks the reunion of Hunter and Hurt who previously worked together in 1987’s Broadcast News.

The cast also includes Sarah Hyland as Blanche Barrow, Lane Garrison as Clyde’s brother, Elizabeth Reaser as writer P.J. Lane, Austin Hebert as lawman Ted Hinton, and Dale Dickey as Clyde’s mother.

History’s Bonnie & Clyde is planned as a two-night event running a total of four hours.

A+E Networks President of Entertainment and Media Nancy Dubuc offered this take on the Bonnie and Clyde story: “Love and bullets are such a dangerous combination – and the basis of fascinating storytelling. The legendary journey of Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow took America by storm during the 1930s and eight decades later they continue to captivate, creating an unprecedented opportunity to deliver an amazing story to both our powerhouse networks HISTORY and Lifetime.”

The Plot:

Bonnie & Clyde retells the fascinating tale of the couple whose crime spree enraptured the American public. Rumored to have a sixth-sense power to see events before they happened, Barrow was always able to stay one step ahead of the law as they escaped capture time and again. His one blind spot was Parker, who was intent on becoming famous, fed on the alluring media attention and pushed Barrow to commit riskier and more dangerous crimes to generate bigger headlines and make them the most famous criminals of the modern era.

The Vampire Diaries’ Joseph Morgan Stars in Warhouse

Warhouse Poster

…which I keep reading and typing as Warhorse – and this is not that epic Steven Spielberg production.

XLrator Media has just announced they’ve purchased the US rights to Warhouse, a psychological thriller starring The Vampire DiariesJoseph Morgan. Luke Massey wrote and directed the drama, which also stars Matt Ryan and William Troughton.

Announcing the acquisition, XLrator Media CEO Barry Gordon stated: “We are thrilled to be working with the incredibly talented team of Luke Massey and Joseph Morgan. Those who only know Joseph from The Vampire Diaries will be blown away by his mesmerizing performance in Warhouse. He’s one of the brightest young actors working today.”

The Plot: The story follows Royal Marine A.J. Budd (Morgan) who awakens in a mysterious house. Trapped alone in an unchanging prison of unbreakable routines and fighting for his life against grotesque inhuman opponents, he must kill every day or die himself. As days stretch into years, the isolation and unceasing violence threaten his very soul. The only note of hope lies in the journals of a former prisoner, WWI officer Lieutenant Edward Sterling (Ryan), which he discovers behind a secret wall.

Sterling’s diaries help the young Marine stay alive in the forsaken prison. But what dark fate befell their author? The stories of the two men from different eras interweave as their desperation to escape the “Warhouse” and its endless killing leads them both to take terrible measures.

New Artist Spotlight: Tate Stevens

Tate Stevens Artist Profile
Tate Stevens - Photographer: Jeff Lipsky

Tate Stevens’ triumph on Season 2 of The X Factor confirms that Country Music is stronger than ever. More important, it heralds the arrival of a performer whose music is in step with what America wants to hear.

On his self-titled upcoming Syco Music/RCA Nashville debut, Stevens flaunts a raw vocal power. This Missouri native and onetime construction worker has clearly lived the life he sings about. When it comes to connecting to the real world of his fans, this ability to project from real experience can’t be learned in a classroom.

There’s plenty of humor in his delivery too. Whether giving a friend advice on the how to treat women right (“That’s How You Get the Girl,” written by Dallas Davidson, Ben Hayslip and Rivers Rutherford) or joking about being distracted from his work by a pretty young thing (“Can’t Get Nothin’ Done,” by Stevens, Ashley Gorley, Wade Kirby and Phil O’Donnell), he comes across more as a good-time pal than a star on the rise. But when called on to deliver a ballad with intensity and drama on his first single, “Power of a Love Song” (Jeremy Bussey, Bradley Gaskin and Marcus Franklin Johnson), he can go toe-to-toe in the spotlight with anyone else.

IN HIS OWN WORDS

MUSICAL HERO

“Joe, Joe, Joe Diffie.”

CD IN YOUR STEREO

“Randy Houser’s How Country Feels.”

SONG YOU SING IN THE SHOWER

“’I’m Too Sexy’ … ha ha!”

FAVORITE MODE OF TRANSPORTATION

“Pickup truck.”

ACTOR TO PORTRAY YOU IN A BIOPIC

“It’s a tie between Brad Pitt and Channing Tatum!”

MOMENT YOU’D LIKE TO RELIVE

“The day both my kids were born.”

FAVORITE FOOD ON THE ROAD

“Hot tamales.”

FIRST GIG

“It was in 1995, at the Red Rover club in Clarksville, Tenn. It went great – I was hooked!”

SOMETHING WE’D NEVER GUESS ABOUT YOU

“I’m terrified of spiders of any size.”

Meanwhile, Hobbs (Johnson) has been tracking an organization of lethally skilled mercenary drivers across 12 countries, whose mastermind (Evans) is aided by a ruthless second-in-command revealed to be the love Dom thought was dead, Letty (Rodriguez). The only way to stop the criminal outfit is to outmatch them at street level, so Hobbs asks Dom to assemble his elite team in London. Payment? Full pardons for all of them so they can return home and make their families whole again.

Mario Lopez Will Return to ‘The X Factor’

It appears that, at least for now, Mario Lopez will be going it solo when it comes time to host the next season of The X Factor. Lopez is returning to the singing competition series, but it will be without his co-host from last year, Khloe Kardashian.

Kardashian didn’t exactly win over X Factor fans last year, so it’s not much of a surprise that only one of the show’s hosts was invited to return.

And thus far, Fox has only confirmed two judges: Simon Cowell and Demi Lovato.

Commenting on returning for his second season, Lopez said, “I’m looking forward to returning to X Factor team. We’re coming back stronger and better than ever, and I’m excited to check out all the new talent.”

“I’m thrilled Mario is back for Season Three of X Factor,” added Cowell. “Hosting a live show and keeping the judges – especially Demi – in line, is not an easy job, but Mario is a pro and we are glad he’s coming back.”

Auditions for The X Factor‘s third season are currently underway. The next stop on the open auditions schedule is set for April 25th at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Long Island, NY.
