Writer/director Jacob Vaughan’s horror/comedy Milo has been acquired by Magnet Releasing. The deal for the North American distribution rights was announced following the film’s debut at the 2013 SXSW Film Festival and was the last deal closed during the festival.

Milo stars Ken Marino, Mary Kay Place, Patrick Warburton, Stephen Root, Peter Stormare, and Gillian Jacobs.

“Just like Ken Marino, our stomachs were hurting watching Milo, happily because of laughter rather than an intestinal demon,” said Magnolia President Eamonn Bowles announcing the pickup. “Milo is a rare entry in the horror-comedy genre that truly delivers.”

Writer/director Vaughan added, “Magnet is the perfect home for Milo. The company is second to none in releasing quality genre movies, and their passion for Milo is overwhelming. I’m confident they will do an incredible job positioning the film in the marketplace and getting it seen by audiences everywhere.”

The Plot: Duncan’s (Marino) life is a real pain in the ass. Tormented by manipulative, crooked boss (Warburton), a nagging mother (Place), a deadbeat new age dad (Stephen Root), and a sweet, yet pressuring, wife (Jacobs), his mounting stress starts to trigger an insufferable gastrointestinal reaction. Out of ideas and at the end of his rope, Duncan seeks the help of a hypnotherapist (Stormare), who helps him discover the root of his unusual stomach pain: a pintsized demon living in his intestine that, triggered by excessive anxiety, forces its way out and slaughters the people who haveangered him. Out of fear that his intestinal gremlin may target its wrath on the wrong person, Duncan attempts to befriend it, naming it Milo and indulging it to keep its seemingly insatiable appetite at bay.

‘Face Off’ Will Return For Another Season

Syfy announced Face Off will be returning for a fifth season this summer. The network says the popular reality series, which has been averaging 2.7 million viewers over season four, will begin shooting season five in April.

Announcing the renewal, Mark Stern, President of Original Content, Syfy, and Co-Head of Original Content, Universal Cable Productions, stated: “Face Off continues to prove itself as a ratings hit, earning critical and viewer accolades alike, and we are proud to bring the series back for another stunning season.”

And in a mash-up of Face Off and the network’s new series Defiance, the March 19, 2013 episode will feature the four contestants taking part in a challenge inspired by Defiance.

Here are the details:

“The remaining four artists – Eric Fox of Riverside, CA; J. Anthony Kosar of Lisle, IL; Kristian Kobzina of El Segundo, CA; and Wayne Anderson of Fort Meyers, FL — head to the lab where they meet Kevin Murphy, the Executive Producer of Defiance.

Defiance is an epic drama that will unfold as both an original series and a multi-platform video game – the first-ever convergence of television and online gaming, featuring an interconnected world between the two mediums as they evolve together into one overall story. The artists learn that the world of Defiance features a myriad of incredible aliens and that their Spotlight Challenge is to create the offspring of two of them. To help inform and inspire their makeups, they are surprised with a trip to Toronto where they visit the incredible set of Defiance.

After meeting the cast and crew, they excitedly head back to Los Angeles to get started on their designs. When they return to the lab, the reality that this is their last chance to make it to the finale is palpable, and their frayed nerves show as each of them struggles to bring their huge concepts to life. It all leads to an incredible showing on the Face Off reveal stage where their alien creations are presented to special guest judge, Defiance director Michael Nankin.”

Does The Bible‘s Satan Look Like President Obama?

Did the History channel deliberately cast an actor who looks just like President Barack Obama to play the role of Satan in their miniseries The Bible? The actor cast in the role, Mehdi Ouazanni, reminds many of President Obama and Twitter went crazy with tweets about the show’s Satan and his similarity to the U.S. President.

Responding to the controversy, History issued this statement:

“HISTORY channel has the highest respect for President Obama. The series was produced with an international and diverse cast of respected actors. It’s unfortunate that anyone made this false connection. HISTORY’s ‘The Bible’ is meant to enlighten people on its rich stories and deep history.”

The Bible Executive Producers Mark Burnett & Roma Downey stated:

“This is utter nonsense. The actor who played Satan, Mehdi Ouazanni, is a highly acclaimed Moroccan actor. He has previously played parts in several Biblical epics – including Satanic characters long before Barack Obama was elected as our President.”

And Executive Producer Roma Downey added:

“Both Mark and I have nothing but respect and love for our President, who is a fellow Christian. False statements such as these are just designed as a foolish distraction to try and discredit the beauty of the story of The Bible.”

Ouazanni’s TV credits include David, Jeremiah, In the Beginning, and The Ten Commandments.
