Quincy Jones III Prepares a ‘Feel Rich’ Documentary

Quincy Jones III and XLrator Media have teamed up for a new documentary aimed at helping to solve health issues in urban areas. The documentary Feel Rich: Health is the New Wealth will include interviews with celebrities and educators and will feature content aimed at battling obesity and informing the targeted audience about diabetes, heart disease, and other health issues.

The Feel Rich program is the brainchild of Grammy-winning producer Quincy Jones III (the son of Quincy Jones) and Shawn Ullman. Feel Good was, according to the official statement, “founded on the belief that the health and fitness industry needed a remix, and the messages needed to be clearer, motivational and speak to people in a relatable way.”

“Feel Rich is poised to join the canon of important, life-affirming films such as Forks Over Knives, Super-Size Me, An Inconvenient Truth, and others that continue to educate and entertain millions of people, in addition to fostering positive lifestyle changes around the world,” stated XLrator Media CEO Barry Gordon.

The aim is to get the documentary into theaters in fall 2013.

“It is our belief that person’s wealth starts with their health,” said QD3. “We cannot do great things without our health, and this film will give communities everywhere the knowledge and tools to effect social change. We’ve seen that even small changes in nutrition and fitness can have a significant impact on health, atti,tude and psyche.”

‘The Host’ Behind the Scenes Video

Will Twilight fans show up in Twilight-ish numbers for The Host, the sci-fi love story based on author Stephenie Meyer’s bestselling non-sparkling vampire novel? The film doesn’t have Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, or Taylor Lautner, but it does have a bizarre love story at its core. Hitting theaters on March 29, 2013, The Host stars Saoirse Ronan, Max Irons, Jake Abel, Chandler Canterbury, and William Hurt.

The Plot:

From Stephenie Meyer comes The Host, a love story set in the future, where earth is occupied by a species who erase the minds of their human hosts, leaving their bodies intact. Melanie Stryder (Ronan) is one of the last surviving humans who fights back, risking her life for the people she cares about most — Jared (Irons), Ian (Abel), her brother Jamie (Canterbury), and her Uncle Jeb (Hurt) — proving that love can conquer all.

Syfy Cancels ‘Alphas’

Apparently two seasons is all fans of Alphas will ever get. Syfy officially confirmed they’ve canceled the series, despite its passionate fan base.

Says the network: “Syfy has decided not to renew Alphas for a third season. We’ve been proud to present this entertaining, high-quality series for two seasons and to work with an incredible ensemble of talented actors, producers, and creatives as well as our partners at BermanBraun Television. We’d like to thank the show’s dedicated regular viewers for their tremendous support.”

The series starred David Strathairn, Malik Yoba, Warren Christie, Azita Ghanizada, Ryan Cartwright, and Laura Mennell and featured a team of ordinary people with superhuman physical and mental abilities (called ‘Alphas’) who solved cases together.

Responding to the news, Azita Ghanizada tweeted:

“Sad to say that ALPHAS will not be returning. What an honor to get to play Rachel for 2years & to work w/ & for the MOST AMAZING PEOPLE EVER”

Malik Yoba tweeted:

“Sad but true fam! #Alphas is done! No season 3! But we love you all for helping us have 2!! We all just keep on reaching!!”

And Ryan Cartwright posted a simple tweet:

“Unfortunately #Alphas is cancelled :( “

First Look: Mud Trailer with Matthew McConaughey

Matthew McConaughey’s coming off a great 2012 in which, among other things, he made women happy by stripping in a feature film (along with Channing Tatum and Matt Bomer). Next up is the premiere of Mud at the Sundance Film Festival on January 19th. Directed by Jeff Nichols and co-starring Tye Sheridan, Jacob Lofland, Sam Shepard, Michael Shannon and Reese Witherspoon, Mud‘s aiming for an April 26, 2013 theatrical release.

The Plot: “Mud is an adventure about two boys, Ellis (Tye Sheridan) and his friend Neckbone (Jacob Lofland), who find a man named Mud (Matthew McConnaughey) hiding out on an island in the Mississippi. Mud describes fantastic scenarios—he killed a man in Texas and vengeful bounty hunters are coming to get him. He says he is planning to meet and escape with the love of his life, Juniper (Reese Witherspoon), who is waiting for him in town. Skeptical but intrigued, Ellis and Neckbone agree to help him. It isn’t long until Mud’s visions come true and their small town is besieged by a beautiful girl with a line of bounty hunters in tow.”

‘Beasts of the Southern Wild’ Returns to Theaters

Surprise Best Picture Oscar nominee Beasts of the Southern Wild will be returning to theaters for a special limited engagement. Fox Searchlight’s planning on re-releasing the critically acclaimed indie drama in select cities on January 18, 2013 in support of the film’s four Oscar nominations.

In addition to Best Picture, Beasts earned Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, and Best Actress Oscar nominations.

“We are thrilled to bring this special film back to theaters a year after it debuted to standing ovations in Park City. With the Academy Award nominations, we hope Benh’s sublime vision can continue to win over audiences as it has around the globe for the last year,” stated Fox Searchlight Pictures Presidents Stephen Gilula and Nancy Utley.

Per the studio, the film will return to theaters in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston, San Francisco, Seattle, Atlanta, Dallas, Phoenix, Miami and Washington, DC.

The Plot:

Beasts of the Southern Wild is set in a forgotten but defiant bayou community cut off from the rest of the world by a sprawling levee where a six-year-old girl Hushpuppy (Best Actress Nominee Quvenzhane Wallis) exists on the brink of orphanhood. Buoyed by her childish optimism and extraordinary imagination, she believes that the natural world is in balance with the universe until a fierce storm changes her reality.

Desperate to repair the structure of her world in order to save her ailing father and sinking home, this tiny hero must learn to survive unstoppable catastrophes of epic proportions.

New Clip from the Long-Awaited Return of Community

Yes, Community is actually returning to NBC. And yes, there is a confirmed, set in stone premiere date. Season four of the critically acclaimed comedy series will kick off on Thursday, February 2013 at 8pm.
 
In this new preview clip, the study group and assorted students have all signed up for a class that everyone wants but due to a snafu is overbooked. The only way to solve the registration mix-up is to stage an elaborate physical contest known as The Hunger Deans.
 
Returning cast members include Joel McHale as Jeff, Gillian Jacobs as Britta, Yvette Nicole Brown as Shirley, Alison Brie as Annie, Donald Glover as Troy, Danny Pudi as Abed, Jim Rash as Dean Pelton, and Ken Jeong as Senor Chang.

Mindless Behavior Announces All Around the World Release Date

Mindless Behavior has set a March 12, 2013 release date for their second album, All Around the World. The follow-up to their debut album, #1 Girl, will hit stores just days before the teen group releases their full-length documentary/concert movie on March 15th.

#1 Girl arrived in September 2011 and debuted on the Billboard Top 200 chart in the top 10. That album wound up selling more than 290,000 copies, and videos for the album’s singles were viewed over 156 million times on YouTube.

All Around the World‘s first single, “Keep Her On The Low,” will be out on January 22nd, three days after the popular group performs at the Presidential Inaugural Kids’ Concert. A video for “Keep Her On The Low,” directed by Erik White, is set to be released in February.

‘The Last Exorcism Part 2’ Freaky Trailer #2

Ashley Bell returns to star in the sequel to The Last Exorcism, The Last Exorcism Part 2, set to hit theaters on March 1, 2013. Ed Gass-Donnelly co-wrote and directs the horror sequel which also stars Julia Garner and Spencer Treat Clark.

The Plot:

Continuing where the first film left off, Nell Sweetzer (Bell) is found terrified and alone in rural Louisiana. Back in the relative safety of New Orleans, Nell realizes that she can’t remember entire portions of the previous months only that she is the last surviving member of her family. Just as Nell begins the difficult process of starting a new life, the evil force that once possessed her is back with other, unimaginably horrific plans that mean her last exorcism was just the beginning.

Jessica Chastain Discusses ‘Mama’

Jessica Chastain’s busy on the awards circuit in support of Zero Dark Thirty, and she’s also busy supporting her new movie – Mama. Mama marks Chastain’s first horror film and in this interview video courtesy of Universal Pictures, she discusses her character’s story and working with the young actresses who play her boyfriend’s nieces.

Chastain also talks about being a part of a Guillermo del Toro production and how the film delivers psychological scares.

Mama is set to haunt theaters on January 18, 2013.

The Plot:

Guillermo del Toro presents Mama, a supernatural thriller that tells the haunting tale of two little girls who disappeared into the woods the day that their parents were killed. When they are rescued years later and begin a new life, they find that someone or something still wants to come tuck them in at night.

Five years ago, sisters Victoria and Lilly vanished from their suburban neighborhood without a trace. Since then, their Uncle Lucas (Coster-Waldau) and his girlfriend, Annabel (Chastain), have been madly searching for them. But when, incredibly, the kids are found alive in a decrepit cabin, the couple wonders if the girls are the only guests they have welcomed into their home.

As Annabel tries to introduce the children to a normal life, she grows convinced of an evil presence in their house. Are the sisters experiencing traumatic stress, or is a ghost coming to visit them? How did the broken girls survive those years all alone? As she answers these disturbing questions, the new mother will find that the whispers she hears at bedtime are coming from the lips of a deadly presence.
