‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars’ Celebrates Its 100th Episode

That’s right, Star Wars: The Clone Wars is on the verge of celebrating its 100th episode. The animated series will mark the milestone on January 5, 2013 with the premiere of the episode “Missing in Action.” The episode will air at 9:30am on Cartoon Network.

Created/executive produced by George Lucas, the series continued the popular Star Wars story and includes key characters such as Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi as well as new sidekicks, villains, and heroes.

“Thanks to our partnership with Cartoon Network, we have been able to bring The Clone Wars into millions of homes not only in the United States but around the world,” stated Tom Quinn, Lucasfilm’s Head of Worldwide Distribution. “We appreciate the support they have given the series and their enthusiasm for the brand.”

A Look Back at the First 100 Episodes [Courtesy of Lucasfilm and Cartoon Network]:

· “From the start, the idea was to show that there were many more Star Wars stories left to tell after the six movies. We all love the Star Wars universe, and we wanted to keep it alive on-screen in a way that had never been done before. We looked at everything that had been created before us, going back to the original film in 1977, and we mined concept art, behind-the-scenes footage, comics, games, and novels and brought it together with George’s guidance to make a series that jumps to every corner of his galaxy.

I’m very proud of my crew and all of Lucasfilm for being part of this series. I’m looking forward to what comes next. Seven years after Revenge of the Sith was in theaters, it’s never been a better time to be a Star Wars fan, as the best is yet to come! – Dave Filoni, Supervising Director, Star Wars: The Clone Wars

· “To produce 100 episodes of an animated series is a major milestone. But to produce them at the high level of quality of Star Wars: The Clone Wars is an incredible achievement. And it’s a testament to our amazing crew. They are some of the most talented, dedicated, hard-working, and passionate people I’ve ever had the pleasure to work with and know. Being a part of making Star Wars and working closely with George Lucas has been an incredible experience and blessing. I truly feel this work will live on forever. Here’s to another 100 episodes! – Cary Silver, Producer, Star Wars: The Clone Wars

· “Star Wars – the movie I saw twelve times as a 17-year-old. The movie that began a cultural and creative universe that now spans generations. For me to be a part of this in The Clone Wars is a dream come true.” – Clancy Brown, Highlander, The Shawshank Redemption and voice of Savage Opress in Star Wars: The Clone Wars

· “The Clone Wars looks amazing and has incredibly dramatic performances from all of the characters. It’s really incredible to have this seamless expansion of the Star Wars universe.” – Seth Green, Actor/Creator/Executive Producer

· “It is an honor being a part of the phenomenon that is The Star Wars universe. A series that has changed so many people’s lives all across the globe. The Clone Wars has brought me great joy, playing female roles with great strength and creativity. I am so proud knowing that every week families have an action-packed and inspiring show to enjoy together. May the Force be with us, always.” – Jaime King, Sin City, Heart of Dixie and voice of Aurra Sing in Star Wars: The Clone Wars

· “It’s a high honor to be a part of the Star Wars universe and such a long-running show. Our talented writers, animators, and cast of voice actors have made The Clone Wars truly unique. And of course, we wouldn’t have hit 100 episodes had it not been for our incredibly dedicated fans that make this possible!” – Matt Lanter, 90210 and the voice of Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: The Clone Wars

· Having grown up with Star Wars, I cannot describe the thrill of working with Dave and George in pushing this beloved modern myth into challenging and often risky areas. It’s an opportunity I wanted, but surely never thought I’d have. And more than that? Everyone is doing such great work! A barn full of wildly talented maniacs! – Sam Witwer, Being Human, Battlestar Galactica and the voice of Darth Maul in Star Wars: The Clone Wars

· “The Clone Wars is Star Wars for a whole new generation. To be a part of it, let alone to be Obi-Wan Kenobi, is beyond awesome.” – James Arnold Taylor, Johnny Test and voice of Obi-Wan Kenobi in Star Wars: The Clone Wars

· “The milestone of 100 episodes is a reflection of the amazing work and dedication of the entire Clone Wars cast and crew. Being a part of this production has been an honor and privilege that has changed my life forever.” – Ashley Eckstein, Founder of Her Universe and voice of Ahsoka Tano in Star Wars: The Clone Wars

· “Star Wars: The Clone Wars is like nothing else on television. It makes me remember how much I loved Star Wars as a boy, and inspires me to love Star Wars all the more for the thrill, the fun, the heart and sheer inventive awesomeness. The Clone Wars is Star Wars, better than ever. – Dee Bradley Baker, American Dad and voice of the clones in Star Wars: The Clone Wars

· “Back in 2005, when David Acord and I met Dave Filoni, he showed us a hand drawn video storyboard sequence of Anakin and his new apprentice leapfrogging battle droids and scaling a cliff with an AT-TE walker. Even from that humble sequence, we could tell that this show was special. In between our geeking out over our love of Star Wars that day, Filoni asked, ‘I wonder if you guys wouldn’t mind adding some sound effects.’ Well, 100 episodes later we still share that bond, and we have all been able to put that love back into the show. We proudly hold this series in our hearts like we do the film saga.” – Matthew Wood, Supervising Sound Editor and voice of General Grievous in Star Wars: The Clone Wars

· “From the beginning, I think we all felt there was something truly special about The Clone Wars. I will be forever proud and grateful to have had the chance to be a part of this show. It has been an obscene amount of fun, I have met the most amazing fans and made friends for life in my Clone Wars family. Congratulations to the whole Clone Wars team on 100 beautiful episodes!” – Catherine Taber, Star Wars: The Old Republic and voice of Padmé Amidala in Star Wars: The Clone Wars

· “I was a Star Wars fan long before I was a Star Wars actor, and to now be part of something that has completely re-energized the franchise, and to be entrusted to voice a character as beloved as Yoda… well, the word ‘humbled’ doesn’t do what I feel justice. Thank you to George, Dave, our stellar cast, everyone at Lucasfilm and the fans, for making this show matter.” – Tom Kane, Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and voice of Yoda in Star Wars: The Clone Wars

‘Diggers’ Discovers New Hatfields and McCoys Clues

The National Geographic Channel will be debuting Diggers: Hatfields & McCoys on January 29, 2013 at 10pm, showcasing new artifacts which shed more light on the infamous feud between the two Kentucky families. According to National Geographic, the new artifacts were located at Randall McCoy’s home in Hardy, Kentucky.

McCoy’s home was the site of the 1888 New Year’s Day shoot-out between the Hatfields and the McCoys, and the location of the final showdown had never been fully uncovered. Kim McBride, co-director of the Kentucky Archaeological Survey, confirmed the Diggers team did in fact discover items on the private property that once belonged to the McCoys.

“This is an incredible discovery behind America’s greatest family feud,” stated McBride. “After spending two days excavating at the site, we were pleased to find a number of original artifacts from the actual structure, such as window glass and both wrought and machine-cut nails, and we were able to trace the lineage of the property right back to Randall McCoy and his wife Sarah McCoy. As archaeologists, we are very excited to find real evidence to back theories that have abounded for decades.”

And West Virginia University Extension Professor Bill Richardson said, “This is amazing. These appear to be actual bullets fired at the Hatfields by the McCoys in defense of their home. Nothing like this has ever been found before.”

The Details:Diggers hosts, amateur scientists, vocational metal detector enthusiasts and history buffs George ‘KG’ Wyant and Tim ‘Ringy’ Saylor, first discovered what they thought were clear signs that finally proved the McCoy home was on the property and that this was the site of the final Hatfield-McCoy standoff, which helped to end at least a decade of family fighting.

Conferring with the private landowners and working with Diggers staff archaeologist Kate Culpepper and local historian Bill Richardson, the team pinpointed the location of the home and discovered charred wooden board remains, as well as specific items from the home, including possible parts from a stove, nails and a plow blade fragment.

After they found the burned wood and artifacts, Wyant and Saylor followed protocol agreed on with the archaeology community at the start of the series production and called in McBride to verify the find. The team screened shovel test units and recorded the site with the Kentucky Office of State Archaeology, to ensure that the site was protected and the find was legitimate.”

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West Expecting a Baby

Kim Kardashian

For those who care about either of these entertainers, Kanye West announced during a concert in Atlantic City on December 30th that he and reality TV celebrity Kim Kardashian are expecting a baby. No news as to when Kim is expected to deliver (although E! says Kardashian is about 12 weeks pregnant), or if there is a marriage somewhere in their future plans. There’s also no news as to what the name of the reality series that this upcoming bundle of joy will undoubtedly lead to.

Wouldn’t it be great if, for the remainder of her pregnancy, Kardashian kept out of the public spotlight? I’ll answer my own question. Yes, it would. However, given the marketing potential for a pregnant Kim, that’s not likely to happen.

After West broke the news to his fans, Kardashian posted this update on her official site:

“It’s true!! Kanye and I are expecting a baby. We feel so blessed and lucky and wish that in addition to both of our families, his mom and my dad could be here to celebrate this special time with us. Looking forward to great new beginnings in 2013 and to starting a family. Happy New Year!!! Xo”

AnnaSophia Robb stars as a younger version of Carrie Bradshaw, played by Sarah Jessica Parker in the hugely successful HBO series Sex and the City, in The Carrie Diaries. The one-hour drama delves into Carrie’s journey to become the woman audiences fell in love with in Sex and the City.

In addition to AnnaSophia Robb, season one stars Stefania Owen as Dorrit Bradshaw, Ellen Wong as Mouse, Katie Findlay as Maggie, Chloe Bridges as Donna, and Austin Butler as Sebastian. Brendan Dooling is Walt, Freema Agyeman is Larissa, and Matt Letscher is Tom.

The Carrie Diaries premieres on January 14, 2013.

The Plot: The Carrie Diaries takes place in 1984, where life is not easy for 16-year-old Carrie Bradshaw. Since their mother passed away, Carrie’s younger sister Dorritt is more rebellious than ever, and their father Tom is overwhelmed with the responsibility of suddenly having to care for two teenage girls on his own.

Carrie’s friends – sweet, geeky Mouse, sarcastic and self-assured Maggie and sensitive Walt – make life bearable, but a suburban life in Connecticut isn’t doing much to take her mind off her troubles. And even though the arrival of a sexy new transfer student named Sebastian brings some excitement to Carrie’s world, she is struggling to move on from her grief. So when Tom offers Carrie the chance to intern at a law firm in Manhattan, she leaps at the chance.

Carrie’s eyes are opened wide at the glamour and grit of New York City – and when she meets Larissa, the style editor for Interview magazine, she’s inspired by the club culture and unique individuals that make up Larissa’s world. Carrie’s friends and family may have a big place in her heart, but she’s fallen in love for the first time with the most important man in her life – Manhattan.

Behind the Scenes: Keegan Allen on ‘Pretty Little Liars’

Do you miss spending time with ABC Family’s Pretty Little Liars? Not to worry – the addictive series returns on January 8, 2013 at 8pm and to give you a little sneak peek at what you can expect, we chatted with Keegan Allen (‘Toby’) about his character and the upcoming episodes. But be warned, if you haven’t caught up on the series, this short Q&A does contain a spoiler.

So, now we know Toby isn’t the character he was portrayed to be all this time…

Keegan: “Now that the information has come out that Toby is also A, you will get a fun glimpse into the past. His character has been through so many ups and downs. People who have been watching since season one know that he has severe family issues and school torment and torture. He then came into himself and began the friendship with Emily and then found this beautiful relationship with Spencer…only to find out that he’s really not that person. He’s actually this phantasmic, dangerous person who is actually an enemy of these girls.”

What can we expect when the show comes back in January?

Keegan: “Life in Rosewood is really going to change. One of the girls is going to feel it more than the others. When the show returns, Mona is going to be cleared from Radley Sanitarium and she returns to high school. Nobody knows if she’s really cured or is completely insane and playing everybody. Within these next 11 episodes, A pushes all these girls to their breaking point… Spencer more so than the others. Being with Troian (Spencer) when she was shooting these episodes was amazing. I was stunned at where Troian takes this character. There’s a breaking point for Spencer; Emily is messed with a lot; Hanna has a lot of family issues of her own; Ezra also has some family issues that complicate things with Aria. Everything that has been building over the last couple of seasons comes crashing down in an extraordinary way.”

Will we finally learn how A always knows everything the girls do behind closed doors?

Keegan: “It’s hard to answer without giving too much away. We’ll see little ways where he was able to find out things. For example, in season two, episode 11, Spencer says meet me at the carnival and he, as A, texts her from a blocked number and later Toby tells her he’s sorry, he lost his phone. We’re dealing with more than one person in this team. A lot is really explained in season three and the finale is where it all comes to a head.”

First Look: ‘Dead Man Down’ Movie Trailer

Love the cast and director, but I hope the trailer isn’t giving away too much. Dead Man Down reunites the director and star of the Swedish version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo for a thriller heading to theaters on March 8, 2013.

The Plot:

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo director Niels Arden Oplev and leading lady Noomi Rapace reunite for another thrilling tale of vengeance, with Colin Farrell joining the prestigious team as Victor, right hand man to an underground crime lord in New York City who is seduced and blackmailed by Beatrice (Rapace), a crime victim seeking retribution. Their intense chemistry leads them spiraling into payback delivered in violent catharsis.

And for those wondering, the song featured in the trailer is Kendra Morris’ cover of Pink Floyd’s “Shine On Your Crazy Diamond.”

New ‘Storage 24’ Redband Trailer

“In a place designed to keep things locked in…how do you get out?” Definitely not to be confused with Storage Wars, the horror film Storage 24 has released a new redband (not safe for work) trailer. Starring Colin O’Donoghue, Noel Clarke, Antonia Campbell-Hughes, and Laura Haddock, Storage 24 hits theaters and video on demand on January 11, 2013.

The Plot:

London is in chaos. A military cargo plane has crashed leaving its highly classified contents strewn across the city. Completely unaware London is in lockdown, Charlie and Shelley, accompanied by best friends Mar and Nikki, are at Storage 24 dividing up their possessions after a recent break-up. Suddenly, the power goes off.

Trapped in a dark maze of endless corridors, a mystery predator is hunting them one by one. In a place designed to keep things in, how do you get out?

Behind the Scenes of ‘Promised Land’

Co-writers/stars Matt Damon and John Krasinski, actress Frances McDormand, and producer Chris Moore discuss collaborating with director Gus Van Sant (Good Will Hunting) on the ‘fracking’ drama, Promised Land, in this behind the scenes video. Promised Land entered theaters in limited release on December 28, 2012 and will be opening in wider release on January 4th, 2013.

The Plot:

Matt Damon plays Steve Butler, an ace corporate salesman who is sent along with his partner, Sue Thomason (McDormand), to close a key rural town in his company’s expansion plans. With the town having been hit hard by the economic decline of recent years, the two outsiders see the local citizens as likely to accept their company’s offer, for drilling rights to their properties, as much-needed relief.

What seems like an easy job for the duo becomes complicated by the objection of a respected schoolteacher (Hal Holbrook) with support from a grassroots campaign led by another man (Krasinski), as well as the interest of a local woman (Rosemarie DeWitt). Promised Land explores America at the crossroads where big business and the strength of small-town community converge.
