‘Argo’ Featurette – “The Real Houseguests”

The real American citizens who were rescued as part of the daring top-secret undercover mission portrayed in Argo, directed by and starring Ben Affleck, talk about their experiences in this behind-the-scenes featurette. Additionally, the cast members who played the rescued Americans discuss their roles in the critically acclaimed film.

The Plot: Based on true events, Argo chronicles the life-or-death covert operation to rescue six Americans, which unfolded behind the scenes of the Iran hostage crisis—the truth of which was unknown by the public for decades. On November 4, 1979, as the Iranian revolution reaches its boiling point, militants storm the U.S. embassy in Tehran, taking 52 Americans hostage. But, in the midst of the chaos, six Americans manage to slip away and find refuge in the home of the Canadian ambassador.

Knowing it is only a matter of time before the six are found out and likely killed, a CIA “exfiltration” specialist named Tony Mendez (Affleck) comes up with a risky plan to get them safely out of the country. A plan so incredible, it could only happen in the movies.

This is one of the 2013 releases I’m actually most looking forward to – believe it or not. Warm Bodies is an unusual twist on the zombie genre focusing on a zombie named “R” who can actually form coherent thoughts (but not necessarily voice them).

Fandango’s got the first four minutes of the movie to show off with the clip focusing on Nicholas Hoult as R. Warm Bodies was directed by Jonathan Levine and also stars Teresa Palmer, Rob Corddry, John Malkovich, Analeigh Tipton, Dave Franco and Cory Hardrict.

The Plot:

A funny new twist on a classic love story, Warm Bodies is a poignant tale about the power of human connection. After a zombie epidemic, R (a highly unusual zombie) encounters Julie (a human survivor), and rescues her from a zombie attack. Julie sees that R is different from the other zombies, and as the two form a special relationship in their struggle for survival, R becomes increasingly more human – setting off an exciting, romantic, and often comical chain of events that begins to transform the other zombies and maybe even the whole lifeless world.

Warm Bodies opens in theaters on February 1, 2013.

Jessica Chastain Discusses Zero Dark Thirty

Jessica Chastain burst onto the scene in 2011 with roles in The Help, The Debt, The Tree of Life, Take Shelter, and Coriolanus, earning an Oscar nomination for her performance in The Help. And in 2012, Chastain was seen on the big screen in Lawless and in the lead role in Zero Dark Thirty. Zero Dark Thirty is the gritty drama based on the 10 year manhunt for Osama bin Laden and features Chastain as a relentless, dedicated CIA agent who doggedly pursues tips that ultimately led to the location of bin Laden.
 
And in this video interview courtesy of Columbia Pictures, Chastain discusses her reaction to being cast in the role, her character, and the accuracy of the story. She also talks about how the film takes an unbiased, objective point of view and what audiences can expect when they take in a screening.

A Night with Nicholas Sparks’ Safe Haven Details

Fans of Nicholas Sparks’ books will have the opportunity to get the scoop on the latest movie based on one of his novels when NCM® Fathom Events and Relativity Media host “A Night with Nicholas Sparks’ Safe Haven: Filmmakers, Author and Stars Bring the Book to Life.” The special event takes place in theaters on January 17, 2013 at 8pm ET/7pm CT and tape-delayed on the West Coast at 8pm.

The one-night-only event includes a Q&A session with author Nicholas Sparks in which he’ll talk about the movie adaptation of his book, Safe Haven. The movie’s stars Josh Duhamel and Julianne Hough will join Sparks and director Lasse Hallstrom to present exclusive clips and behind-the-scenes footage from the 2013 release.

Tickets are available via FathomEvents.com, with 500 select movie theaters participating in the event.

Commenting on the fan-friendly special event, Sparks stated: “This event promises to be an exciting new way to connect with fans around the country – a first for me and the talented creative team behind Safe Haven. I can’t wait to talk about the unique collaboration with Josh and Julianne, who transformed the characters in my book into living people whose loves and losses will come to life soon on the big screen. It’s been a privileged experience working with Lasse, Marty and Wyck on this film and now my readers will have a chance to share in that experience as well.”

The Plot:

When a mysterious young woman (Hough) arrives in a small North Carolina town, her reluctance to join the tight-knit community raises questions about her past. Slowly, she begins putting down roots, and gains the courage to start a relationship with Alex (Duhamel), a widowed store owner with two young children. But dark secrets intrude on her new life that she is forced to rediscover the meaning of sacrifice and rely on the power of love in this deeply moving romantic thriller.




New Poster: Escape From Planet Earth

You may not have asked for it, but it’s here anyway. The Weinstein Company has unleashed the final theatrical poster for the animated comedy, Escape From Planet Earth, coming to theaters on February 14, 2013 – because nothing says Happy Valentine’s Day better than animated aliens.
 
Here’s the Details:
 
The 3D animated family comedy catapults moviegoers to planet Baab where admired astronaut Scorch Supernova (Brendan Fraser) is a national hero to the blue alien population. A master of daring rescues, Scorch pulls off astonishing feats with the quiet aid of his nerdy, by-the-rules brother, Gary (Rob Corddry), head of mission control at BASA. When BASA’s no-nonsense chief Lena (Jessica Alba) informs the brothers of an SOS from a notoriously dangerous planet, Scorch rejects Gary’s warnings and bounds off for yet another exciting mission. But when Scorch finds himself caught in a fiendish trap set by the evil Shanker (William Shatner) it’s up to scrawny, risk-adverse Gary to do the real rescuing. As the interplanetary stakes rise to new heights, Gary is left to save his brother, his planet, his beloved wife Kira (Sarah Jessica Parker) and their adventure hungry son Kip.

What is Girl Most Likely? It’s the comedy movie formerly known as Imogene and starring Kristen Wiig, Annette Bening, Matt Dillon, Christopher Fitzgerald and Darren Criss (Glee). And why are we talking about? Because Lionsgate and Roadside Attractions have picked it up and will be releasing it in theaters on July 19, 2013. Michelle Morgan wrote the script and Robert Pulcini and Shari Springer Berman (Cinema Verite) directed the comedy which premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in 2012.
 
The Plot:
 
Kristen Wiig stars as Imogene, once a promising young New York playwright whose promise has fizzled, thanks to a crisis of confidence. Heavily in denial about being dumped by her society boyfriend, Imogene uses her skill for drama to stage an elaborate fake suicide as an appeal for his sympathy. But her attempt backfires when she’s put into the custody of Zelda, her estranged gambling addict mother (Bening), and must return home with her to the Jersey shore. Desperate to get back to her Manhattan circle of so- called friends, Imogene must finally deal with her family, including her unique brother (Fitzgerald), Zelda’s new boyfriend The Bousche (Dillon), plus a cute young lodger (Criss),who together help Imogene sort out her place in the world.

The Black Crowes Announce 2013 World Tour

The Black Crowes CroweologyThe Black Crowes just announced the dates of their “Lay Down with Number 13” world tour’s first leg as well as details on the release of Wiser for the Time featuring 26 songs. The group will launch the first leg of their tour on March 24, 2013 in Manchester, with the first leg winding down on May 4th in New Orleans.
 
And Chris Robinson (lead vocals, guitar), Rich Robinson (guitar, vocals), Steve Gorman (drums), Sven Pipien (bass) and Adam Macdougall (keyboards) also stated in the tour announcement that they’re “thrilled to announce” the addition of Jackie Greene on guitar and vocals.
 
Tickets go on sale on January 11th. For more info, check out the group’s official website.
 
The Black Crowes also revealed the live Wiser for the Time vinyl release will be available on March 19th. Featuring 26 songs, the 15 acoustic and 11 electric tunes were recorded during the group’s sold-out NYC performances in 2010. These specific tracks have never been released before.

Bravo Updates Their 2013 Schedule

Bravo’s switching things up in 2013, moving The Real Housewives of Atlanta to an 8pm time slot with Shahs of Sunset at 9pm. The network’s also premiering a new series, Vanderpump Rules, in early 2013.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta moves to a new time on Sunday, January 6 at 8p.m. As NeNe prepares to leave for LA to begin shooting The New Normal, she has many challenges thrown her way. Kandi and her boo continue to settle into their new life together, causing her to mull over the thought of marriage with Porsha. A pre-nup conversation is far off for Kenya – things haven’t been right for a while with her and Walter. After heart-to-hearts with Aunt Lori and Kandi, she takes Walter on a fishing date to give it one last shot at reeling in her man.
 
Shahs of Sunset moves to a new time on Sunday, January 6 at 9p.m. In the episode, the friends decide to take a long weekend in Cabo, but Reza and Asa refuse to go with GG. GG decides to make the best of being cut out of the vacation by digging in and taking over the launch party for her extensions line, hoping to prove to her sister that she has what it takes to be a real business woman. Lilly and MJ bristle at being forced together by the rest of the gang, and tempers flare when Asa blurts out loud what everyone in the group has been wondering.
 
The Real Housewives of Miami also makes a splash in the new year with part two of the reunion on Thursday, January 3 at 9p.m. Hosted by Bravo’s Andy Cohen, part two reunites Lea Black, Marysol Patton, Adriana De Moura, Ana Quincoces, Joanna Krupa, Karent Sierra and Lisa Hochstein to discuss catfights and confrontations on this season. Alexia Echevarria and Elsa Patton join the ladies to look back on the drama.
 
Bravo’s new docu-series Vanderpump Rules will debut as part of a special two-hour episode of “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” on Monday, January 7 from 9-11p.m. ET/PT. Worried about a $1.5 million dollar lawsuit left behind by her husband, Taylor invites a psychic to “cleanse” her house. The drama continues in Brandi’s life, Brandi meets with Scheana, the waitress who admitted to having an affair with Brandi’s ex-husband. After the confrontation, things get worse for Scheana as she picks up shifts at Lisa’s restaurant, SUR, and tries to fit in with the other servers. In an effort to keep a hand on her unruly staff, Lisa encourages Scheana to stand up to Stassi, the self-proclaimed “leader of the pack” who has been labeling her a “home wrecker” to all of her new co-workers.
 
With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, The Millionaire Matchmaker returns for a news season of love on Thursday, January 10 at 9p.m. ET/PT. The premiere features Daniel Negreanu, a 37-year-old World Class professional poker player who is done gambling with love. But Patti sends him to astrologer Christopher Renstrom, and soon Daniel has his confidence back. If he plays his cards right this time, he might even find love. Patti’s second millionaire is divorced, 40-year-old, family money heir Brian Holloway II. He’s a total Mama’s boy who brings his very English mama with him to meet Patti. Can Patti help Brian cut the apron strings and grow up?
 
After securing her permanent spot on the naughty list, two-time Emmy award winner Kathy Griffin returns to Bravo with an all-new comedy special Kathy Griffin: Kennedie Center On-Hers premiering Thursday, January 3rd at 10:00p.m. ET/PT. In this new comedy special, Award-winning Kathy Griffin will discuss her very uniquely inappropriate encounters with everyone from Miley Cyrus to the great Celine Dion while bringing you up to date on “The Real Couples Therapy Beyond Scared Housewives.”
 
Kathy continues her legacy in a new season of Kathy, with a special LIVE premiere on Thursday, January 10th at 10:00 PM ET/PT. Celebrity guests Liza Minnelli and Jane Lynch join Kathy as they break down the week’s pop culture headlines, celebrity scandals and top television moments. New Guests Added to ‘New Year’s Eve with Carson Daly’

New Year's Eve with Carson Daly

NBC’s just added Train and the winner of season three of The Voice, Cassadee Pope, to the New Year’s Eve with Carson Daly lineup. The special airs live from Times Square beginning on December 31, 2012 at 10pm ET on for one hour, picking back up at 11:30pm ET for an additional hour.

Train’s set to perform “Mermaid” and John Lennon’s “Imagine.”

New Year’s Eve with Carson Daly will be taking a look back at 2012’s best musical performances by Coldplay, PSY, Beyonce, Justin Bieber, and others, with stars including The Voice‘s Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, CeeLo Green, and Christina Aguilera, as well as Amy Poehler, Jimmy Fallon, and Jay Leno, scheduled to take part in the broadcast. In addition, The Office‘s Angela Kinsey will contribute live reports from Times Square.

NBC will also be allowing fans to issue dares to both Daly and Kinsey by tweeting using the #newyearsdares hashtag. The network says a few tweets will be chosen, and Daly and/or Kinsey will be carrying out the dares live during the show.

Why is Gary Oldman the only actor of three pictured not looking at the camera? I have no idea, but that’s how it is in this new photo of Oldman, Liam Hemsworth, and Harrison Ford from Relativity Media’s Paranoia.

The Plot:

In this high-stakes thriller, Adam Cassidy (Hemsworth) is an ambitious junior technologist trying to climb the ranks of telecom giant Wyatt Corporation. But after one costly mistake, Adam is blackmailed by ruthless CEO Nicholas Wyatt (Oldman) to turn corporate spy by going to work for the firm’s top competitor, which is run by Wyatt’s old mentor, Jock Goddard (Ford).

Adam soon finds himself delivered into prepackaged success, living his fantasy life of old-world boardrooms, private clubs, exotic cars, and all the spoils of Manhattan bachelorhood. However, behind the scenes, he is merely a pawn in Wyatt’s power play, and must search for a way out from under his boss, who will stop at nothing, even murder, to gain a multi-billion dollar advantage.
