George Lucas wants to see more Star Wars film but he also wants to retire. The solution? Sell Lucasfilm Ltd to Disney and let them move forward on more Star Wars projects.

Lucas explains why he made the deal with Disney and what it means for the Star Wars franchise in this video of the announcement:

In the press release announcing the deal with Disney, Lucas said:

“For the past 35 years, one of my greatest pleasures has been to see Star Wars passed from one generation to the next. It’s now time for me to pass Star Wars on to a new generation of filmmakers. I’ve always believed that Star Wars could live beyond me, and I thought it was important to set up the transition during my lifetime. I’m confident that with Lucasfilm under the leadership of Kathleen Kennedy, and having a new home within the Disney organization, Star Wars will certainly live on and flourish for many generations to come.

Disney’s reach and experience give Lucasfilm the opportunity to blaze new trails in film, television, interactive media, theme parks, live entertainment, and consumer products.”

The Plot:

High school senior Carson Phillips (Colfer) was destined for bigger things than his close-minded small town could ever offer. He was on a path to greatness, but destiny had a different plan when he was suddenly killed by a bolt of lightning in his school parking lot.

That The Office spinoff featuring Rainn Wilson as Dwight Shrute won’t be moving forward after all. NBC had planned for Wilson’s character to lead a spinoff of the successful comedy series, which is finishing up its run at the end of this ninth season. However, Wilson says it’s a no-go right now.

Wilson, who’s one of the better celebs at keeping his fans in the loop via Twitter, posted a tweet confirming the news: “Farm Update: NBC has passed on moving forward with The Farm TV show. Had a blast making the pilot – onwards & upwards!”

The Farm would have centered around the Schrute farm and was expected to star Majandra Delfino, Matt Jones, and Thomas Middleditch.
