Carly Rae Jepsen’s “Call Me Maybe” is just too irresistible for Olympic athletes, Sesame Street characters, pop singers, and college baseball teams to leave alone. And now Sony Pictures Animation’s getting in on the “Call Me Maybe” craze with a “Call Me Mavy” video in support of their upcoming animated feature film, Hotel Transylvania.

Sung by Traci L., “Call Me Mavy” features the teen vampire from the animated comedy falling for a human boy, much to the disappointment of her dad, Dracula.

Hotel Transylvania was directed by Genndy Tartakovsky and features the voices of Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, Selena Gomez, Kevin James, Fran Drescher, Steve Buscemi, Molly Shannon, David Spade, and CeeLo Green.

Hotel Transylvania hits theaters on September 28, 2012.

The Plot:

Welcome to Hotel Transylvania, Dracula’s lavish five-stake resort, where monsters and their families can live it up, free to be the monsters they are without humans to bother them. On one special weekend, Dracula has invited some of his best friends – Frankenstein and his wife, the Mummy, the Invisible Man, the Werewolf family, and more – to celebrate his beloved daughter Mavis’s 118th birthday.

For Drac, catering to all of these legendary monsters is no problem – but everything could change for the overprotective dad when one ordinary guy stumbles on the hotel and takes a shine to Mavis.

‘Take a Shot!’ Set to Become a Series

Take a Shot! The Remarkable Story of Perseverance, Friendship, and A Really Crazy Adventure is set to become a television series. Lionsgate’s picked up the option and will be creating a new drama based on Jake Steinfeld and Dave Morrow’s book about the creation of the first professional outdoor lacrosse league.

“We love to be in business with other entrepreneurs, and Jake Steinfeld is a larger-than-life personality and a hugely successful entrepreneur whose book has resonance for sports fans, adrenaline junkies, and people who love success stores alike,” said Lionsgate Television Group President Kevin Beggs and Lionsgate Television COO Sandra Stern. “Jake tells a riveting story that we believe can translate into equally compelling television programming consistent with the Lionsgate brand.”

The Plot: Described as Moneyball meets The Hangover, Take A Shot! tells the tale of three men from vastly different worlds – Jake, the brash Hollywood fitness icon and driving force behind Major League Lacrosse; Dave, a shy Ivy Leaguer from blue-collar Detroit and the ultimate fish out of water who ultimately becomes a success story in his own right; and Tim Robertson, the son of a televangelist and a multimedia mogul-who teamed up to try the impossible: start a professional sports league at a time when other leagues were crashing and burning around them.

The book chronicles the true story of their wild search for investors and team owners, the setbacks that nearly derailed the league time and again, and the emotional and triumphant debut of Major League Lacrosse, the first professional outdoor lacrosse league. Their roller-coaster ride blends humor, inside sports intrigue and inspirational life lessons along the way.

Emmy winner Michael J Fox will be returning to series television with a new NBC comedy series loosely inspired by his life. The as yet untitled series has already been given a 22 episode order by the network, with Fox set to star in the show that will follow a “father of three dealing with family, career, and challenges.”

The series will begin shooting this fall and will air in 2013.

“To bring Michael J. Fox back to NBC is a supreme honor and we are thrilled that one of the great comedic television stars is coming home again,” said Robert Greenblatt, Chairman of NBC Entertainment. “From the moment we met with Michael to hear his unique point of view about this new show, we were completely captivated and on board. He is utterly relatable, optimistic, and in a class by himself, and I have no doubt that the character he will create – and the vivid family characters surrounding him – will be both instantly recognizable and hilarious. Being in business with him is a supreme pleasure.”

“We have all been such huge fans of Michael’s and hoped one day he would return to television with his own show,” said Jennifer Salke, President of NBC Entertainment. “He had us at hello with his warmth, humor and incredible charisma. The fact that he pitched us a show that was funny, heartwarming and personal was the icing on the cake! We are over the moon and thankful Michael, Will (Gluck) and Sam (Laybourne) will be a cornerstone of our NBC comedy brand.”

“I’m extremely pleased to be back at NBC with a great creative team and a great show,” said Fox. “Bob Greenblatt and all the folks at the network have given me a warm welcome home, and I’m excited to get to work.”

‘Ghost Hunters’ Season 8 Begins in September

Ghost Hunters

The eighth season of Ghost Hunters – and the first without investigator Grant Wilson – kicks off on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at 9pm. Wilson left the Ghost Hunters team in May 2012 after seven seasons as one of the lead investigators for The Atlantic Paranormal Society (TAPS), but the remainder of the team will be carrying on without him.

Season 8 consists of 14 new episodes, kicking off with a series of ‘Southern-Spirits’ themed shows. The first stop is in Charleston, South Carolina (Charleston won the America’s Hometown Ghost Hunt contest).

Ghost Hunters Season 8 September Episodes

“A SERIAL KILLER’S REVENGE”

Wednesday, September 5 at 9 PM ET/PT

Charleston, South Carolina has the distinct honor of winning Ghost Hunters’ America’s Hometown Ghost Hunt contest. TAPS heads straight to the historic Old City Jail, where America’s first female serial killer, Lavinia Fisher, spent her last few days alive before her execution in 1820.

“CAMP FEAR”

Wednesday, September 12 at 9 PM ET/PT

TAPS travels to Georgia’s Camp Rutledge, the location of a Friday the 13th movie shoot, in search of “elemental spirits” – created by nature, not humans – and also stops in Marion, North Carolina to help a young mom who fears a ghost might be out to hurt her daughter.

“FRENCH QUARTER MASSACRE”

Wednesday, September 19 at 9 PM ET/PT

In an effort to bring closure to families of the victims of the 1973 Jimani Lounge Massacre – where 32 men died in a horrific arson attack – TAPS fans out across New Orleans, investigating the Jimani Lounge, The Mortuary and a cemetery, in its attempt to contact the fire’s victims.

“DON’T FEED THE APPARITION”

Wednesday, September 26 at 9 PM ET/PT

TAPS doesn’t let being outdoors and surrounded by animals interfere with its investigation of the Alexandria Zoo in Alexandria, Louisiana. Zoo staffers have experienced unexplained occurrences that remind them of the pranks pulled by their dearly departed zookeeper, which leaves them wondering if their old friend is playing practical jokes on them from beyond the grave.

John Dies at the End Attracts Magnet Releasing

Magnet Releasing has snatched up worldwide rights to John Dies at the End, a “phantasmagoric” sci-fi/horror film written, directed and produced by Don Coscarelli (Bubba Ho-Tep, the Phantasm franchise). Based on David Wong’s bestseller, John Dies at the End stars Paul Giamatti, Chase Williamson, Rob Mayes, Clancy Brown, Glynn Turman and Doug Jones.

Magnet will show off the final cut at the Toronto International Film Festival and is aiming for an early 2013 theatrical release date.

“We are longtime fans of the great Don Coscarelli, and fell in love with this film when it debuted at Sundance,” said Magnolia/Magnet President Eamonn Bowles. “It’s a real head trip—imaginative, wildly funny, and incredibly demented, with all the makings of an underground classic that fans will come back to again and again.”

Coscarelli adds, “It is my great pleasure to be allied with the finest and most entrepreneurial independent film distributor in the terrific team at Magnolia Pictures. They share my passion for the story of Dave and John…Obviously the ‘Soy Sauce’ that kicks the plot into gear has had the same addictive effect on them as it did me. Watch out!”

The Plot:

Paul Giamatti plays Arnie, a shadowy figure investigating a street drug known as Soy Sauce. Promising an out-of-body experience with each hit, Soy Sauce causes users to drift across time and dimensions. But some who come back are no longer human. Suddenly a silent otherworldly invasion is underway, and mankind needs a hero. What it gets instead is John and Dave (Mayes and Williamson), a pair of college dropouts who can barely hold down jobs. Can these two stop the oncoming horror in time to save humanity? No. No, they can’t.

Magical Mystery Tour Coming on DVD and Blu-Ray

Magical Mystery TourWritten and directed by The Beatles and released in 1967, Magical Mystery Tour was the third film from the group and the one that never had a US broadcast. Only 53 minutes long, Magical Mystery Tour is a “dreamlike story of a coach day trip to the seaside” created when the group gathered their friends and cast onto a bus and headed out of London.

“Paul said, ‘Look, I’ve got this idea,’ and we said ‘Great!’ and all he had was this circle and a little dot on the top – that’s where we started,” explained Ringo. “It wasn’t the kind of thing where you could say, ‘Ladies and gentlemen, what you are about to see is the product of our imaginations and believe me, at this point they are quite vivid’,” said Paul.

The resulting film used a loose narrative created by six songs – “Magical Mystery Tour,” “The Fool On The Hill,” “I Am The Walrus,” “Flying,” “Blue Jay Way,” and “Your Mother Should Know” – to tell a story.

Now fully restored, Magical Mystery Tour is coming to DVD and Blu-ray with a remixed soundtrack in October following a very limited theatrical release on September 27th. The DVD and Blu-ray packages will include unseen footage, new interviews, and an audio commentary by Paul. A deluxe edition will include a 60 page book and a reproduction of the mono double 7″ vinyl EP with the six songs from the film.

Magical Mystery Tour Special Features:

Director’s Commentary – by Paul McCartney

“The Making of Magical Mystery Tour” [19:05]

“The Fool On The Hill” [3:05]
– Three new edits of these performances, all featuring footage not seen in the original film.

“Hello Goodbye,” as featured on “Top of the Pops” – 1967 [3:24]
– The Beatles allowed the BBC to film them in the edit suite where they were working on Magical Mystery Tour. This was then turned into a promo by the BBC, who shot their own additional footage. It was then broadcast on “Top of the Pops” to mark the “Hello Goodbye” single going to No. 1 in December 1967.

“Nat’s Dream” [2:50]
– A scene directed by John featuring Nat Jackley and not included in the original film.

Ivor Cutler – “I’m Going In A Field” [2:35]
– Ivor performs “I’m Going In A Field,” in a field. This scene was not included in the original film.

Traffic – “Here We Go Round The Mulberry Bush” [1:53]
– The filming of Traffic acting out their 1967 hit single “Here We Go Round The Mulberry Bush” was commissioned by The Beatles for possible inclusion in Magical Mystery Tour, but was not included in the final edit.

ABC Moves Up Jimmy Kimmel Live

Jimmy Kimmel Live LogoABC’s switching up their late night lineup, moving Jimmy Kimmel Live up to the 11:35pm timeslot in order to capitalize “on ratings momentum, advertising demand and increased revenue potential for entertainment programming.” The move will take place on January 8, 2013 and will place Jimmy Kimmel in direct competition with The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Late Show with David Letterman.

Nightline will be moving to the 12:35am spot and will expand to primetime on Friday nights at 9pm (beginning March 1st).

Announcing the changes, Anne Sweeney, co-chair, Disney Media Networks and president, Disney/ABC Television Group, stated: “Given the passionate fan base Jimmy Kimmel Live has built over the past decade and the show’s ratings and creative momentum this season, the time is right to make this move. There is the potential for far greater upside over the long term with this shift, given increased advertiser demand for competitive entertainment programming in the time slot.”

Sweeney added, “This shift also allows us to bookend our programming day with compelling news content. And the addition of a new primetime hour of Nightline on Friday nights will ensure that the program has even more opportunities to continue its incredible, award-winning reporting.”
