Ready for more Basketball Wives? VH1 has released the September premiere date for the second season of Baskeball Wives: LA as well as the debut date for its spin-off, Ev & Ocho, starring Evelyn Lozada and Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson.

Here’s the scope on VH1’s fall lineup:

T.I. & TINY: THE FAMILY HUSTLE PREMIERES MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 3 AT 9PM

After proving that he still holds the throne, T.I., “The King of the South,” continues to take on Hollywood with a recurring role on the Starz hit television series Boss and a new movie role starring alongside Jason Bateman and Melissa McCarthy in the upcoming Identity Theft. Tip is also preparing to release Trouble & Triumph: A Novel of Power & Beauty, the follow-up to his successful book debut Power and Beauty, and his highly anticipated ninth studio album. Wife Tameka “Tiny” Harris is also making moves of her own this season by expanding her Pretty Hustle brand and working to take her group the OMG Girlz to a whole new level, all while designing a new lingerie line.

All six kids will be back this season, including music hopefuls son Domani and daughter Niq Niq. While Domani works on his rap game as a solo artist, Niq Niq will be making more hit music with the OMG Girlz. After a successful run on the “Scream Tour” and their first single “Gucci This (Gucci That)” blowing up on the charts, the girls are quickly taking the music world by storm.

With two successful parents and a group of kids equally hungry to make it in the game, the Harris family is ready to take on season two on T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle premiering on VH1 Monday, September 3 at 9PM.

EV & OCHO SERIES PREMIERE MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 3 AT 9:30 PM/ET

VH1 has followed Evelyn’s story through four seasons of Basketball Wives. Now Ev & Ocho presents a behind-the-scenes look at Chad “Ochocinco” Johnson and Evelyn Lozada’s journey to “I Do.” Through an eleven-part series, including a two-part season finale, audiences will get a glimpse inside of Evelyn and Chad’s relationship. Between Evelyn promoting her new book Inner Circle and going through marriage counseling with Chad, Evelyn is forced to put all past issues on the back-burner as she deals with tough family decisions and the ever important question, “Who will walk me down the aisle?” Viewers will watch Evelyn and Chad work together through the tough times to reach the goal of their dream wedding with celebrity wedding planner Diann Valentine. From deciding on the perfect cake and designer dress, to Evelyn dealing with Ocho’s unconventional wedding demands, this ceremony will definitely go down in the history books. Preparation isn’t easy, and the couple’s timing is tight as Evelyn rushes to make sure her ill brother-in-law can be a part of her very special day. With two overflowing social calendars and two different personalities to match, these two realize planning “happily ever after” won’t be a smooth course.

BASKETBALL WIVES: LA PREMIERES MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 10 AT 8PM ET/PT

Taking the screen for a second season, VH1’s Basketball Wives LA rebounds with new friendships and fresh additions to the team. Familiar faces returning are Jackie Christie, Gloria and Laura Govan, Malaysia Pargo and Draya Michele. Other friends also join in to make season two even spicier than the first.

Sisters Laura and Gloria try to mend their strained relationship, which has been tenuous due to the pressures of their chaotic lives. Gloria faces a turning point in her acting career and finds herself at the brink of her first big role, but will this push her relationship with Laura to the edge? Laura has a hot new figure and is set on making big life changes. Jackie attempts at making amends with the group, but has too much damage already been done? Malaysia makes good on her promise to step out of her comfort zone and pushes herself to hang-glide, skydive and more. Draya juggles a booming modeling career and the launch of her own swimwear line. And of course, another year means another vow renewal for Jackie and Doug Christie with the theme sure to blow the other 16 celebrations out of the water. Nickelodeon’s announced they’ve given the greenlight to 14 new TV movie projects, live-action shows, and animated TV series. The new projects will include a couple featuring well-known characters from other shows and will begin showing up on the network this fall and in 2013.

LIVE-ACTION

Current Productions:

Wendell and Vinnie (Nick at Nite series) – iCarly‘s Jerry Trainor stars as Vinnie, a lovable, goofball uncle who becomes the guardian to his buttoned-up 12-year-old nephew Wendell (Buddy Handleson). Nicole Sullivan also stars as Vinnie’s high-strung older sister Wilma.

You Gotta See This (Nickelodeon series) – Nickelodeon combines the best of the web, behind-the-scenes footage, celebrity interviews, pranks and bloopers in its new series You Gotta See This, premiering this fall. Hosted by Chris O’Neal and Noah Crawford (stars of How to Rock), the half-hour series rolls all the must-see clips of the week into one hilarious package.

Swindle (Nickelodeon movie/working title) – With daring heists, crazy disguises, pie fights and sumo wrestlers, the network greenlights Swindle, an original TV movie featuring an impressive ensemble cast of Nickelodeon stars. When an evil collector cons Griffin out of a million dollar baseball card that could have saved his best friend’s home, he unites a ragtag group of his classmates who need to work as a team to take down the swindler. Swindle is based on a popular children’s book by Gordon Korman.

Nicky Deuce (Nickelodeon movie/working title) – Based on a popular children’s book by The Sopranos‘ Steve Schirripa and Charles Fleming, Nicky Deuce stars iCarly‘s Noah Munck as Nicholas Borelli II, a nerdy, over-protected teen who transforms into the title character. Nicholas gets caught in the adventure of a lifetime when he spends the summer with an uncle he never knew he had.

Pilots:

Sam & Cat (Nickelodeon pilot/working title) – In the comedic spin-off Sam & Cat, from iCarly and Victorious creator Dan Schneider, feisty Sam Puckett (Jennette McCurdy) and daffy Cat Valentine (Ariana Grande) become best buddies and unlikely roommates. They love their freedom and independence, but quickly realize that fun and adventure do not come cheap. Rather than get traditional after-school jobs, Sam and Cat become teen entrepreneurs by starting their own babysitting business.

Gibby (Nickelodeon pilot/working title) – Noah Munck reprises his role as Gibby in the spin-off from iCarly creator Dan Schneider. In the comedy pilot, Gibby takes a job at The Bixby, a recreational center where kids of all ages hang out, socialize, play sports and take unique classes. Gibby becomes a mentor to four quirky middle-schoolers, helping them break out of their shells and embrace life in true “Gibbehhh” style.

The Haunted Hathaways (Nickelodeon pilot/working title) — Life in The Big Easy gets a little more complicated and way more spirited when the Hathaway siblings move into a house occupied by a family of ghosts.

The Thundermans (Nickelodeon pilot/working title) – Written by Jed Spingarn, The Thundermans follows 13-year-old Phoebe Thunderman, who just wants to be normal, but that’s impossible when she comes from a family of superheroes. While most superheroes are lucky to have one power, Phoebe happens to have 12. So much for normal!

Instant Mom (Nick at Nite pilot/working title) – Instant Mom centers on a 25-year-old party girl who trades in Cosmos for carpools when she marries an older man with kids.

ANIMATION

Nickelodeon, the top producer of television animation in the U.S., is in production on three new series and two new pilots.

Current Productions:

Sanjay & Craig (Nickelodeon series) – A classic tale of boy meets snake, this 20-episode, 2D-animated series follows two best buds who dedicate their lives to becoming the coolest, most rebellious dudes in the neighborhood.

Monsters vs. Aliens (Nickelodeon series) – An extension of the blockbuster movie, the all-new CG-animated television series features the lovable monsters and a whole new group of nefarious aliens living and working together at Area 50-something.

Monty and Norville (Nickelodeon preschool series/working title) – Monty and Norville follows the adventures of a five-year-old troll named Monty and his dragon friend Norville. With the help of viewers at home, Monty can use his magic stick to make incredible things happen as long as he uses the right words.

Pilots:

Bad Seeds (Nickelodeon pilot) – From SpongeBob SquarePants alumnus and Chowder creator Carl Greenblatt, Bad Seeds is about a good bird running with the bad crowd… and having a great time!

Blaze and the Monster Machines (Nickelodeon preschool pilot/working title) – Blaze and the Monster Machines is a CG-animated, interactive program about an eight-year-old boy named AJ and his incredible monster truck Blaze. AJ, Blaze and their friend Maddie fight their arch nemesis Crusher along with a fleet of other trucks.

Nick Jonas as an Idol Judge?

Joe, Nick and Kevin Jonas

It’s a definite possibility, according to the singer. This weekend, Nick Jonas tweeted confirmation in response to the rumors that had been flying around late last week that he could be signing up as a judge on American Idol:

The rumors are true… I am being considered to be a judge on American Idol, and it would be a dream come true if it happens. #nickonidol” – 12:07 PM – 4 Aug 12

And as fans expressed their happiness over the possibility, Jonas followed up by tweeting:

Loved seeing all your amazing response to #NickOnIdol keep it coming!”

With Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez bidding good-bye to AI, the judging panel was temporarily down to just Randy Jackson. However, on July 23rd Mariah Carey was officially confirmed to take a seat at the judge’s table for at least one year, leaving just one seat to be filled. In addition to the Jonas rumors, there’s been speculation that a former Idol contestant may be brought in to judge the show.

‘True Blood’ Season 5 Episode 9 Preview Video

There are only a few more episodes left of True Blood‘s fifth season, which sucks for Truebies as the season has really just hit its stride. Bill and Stephen’s love/hate relationship appears to be tilting toward hate in this episode, while the trailer indicates Sookie’s about to get dragged back into the vampire world again.

Episode #57: “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” Details:

Debut: SUNDAY, AUG. 5 (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET/PT)
Other HBO playdates: Aug. 5 (11:00 p.m.), 7 (midnight), 8 (10:00 p.m.), 9 (11:00 p.m.) and 11 (10:30 p.m.)
HBO2 playdates: Aug. 6 (9:00 p.m.), 7 (10:00 p.m.), 9 (8:00 p.m.), 10 (11:00 p.m.), 12 (5:00 p.m.) and 24 (9:00 p.m.)
As the Authority proceeds with Lilith’s plan, Eric (Alexander Skarsgård) plots his escape. Gran (Lois Smith) directs Sookie (Anna Paquin) to a clue to her parents’ murderer. Andy (Chris Bauer) and Jason (Ryan Kwanten) search for leads to the identities of the people behind the shifter killings. Alcide (Joe Manganiello) recalls his pack induction; Arlene (Carrie Preston) gets caught in Terry (Todd Lowe) and Patrick’s (Scott Foley) crossfire; Steve (Michael McMillian) gets a new pet.

Written by Raelle Tucker and directed by Dan Attias.

Check Out the Frankie Go Boom Trailer

The comedy movie 3, 2, 1…Frankie Go Boom reunites Sons of Anarchy stars Ron Perlman and Charlie Hunnam in roles that are incredibly different from that motorcycle club series (I don’t think we’ll be seeing Perlman ever dress in drag for SoA). Coming to theaters on October 12, 2012, Frankie Go Boom also stars Chris O’Dowd, Lizzy Caplan, Nora Dunn, Sam Anderson, Whitney Cummings, and Chris Noth.

The Plot:

Frank Bartlett has been tortured, embarrassed, and humiliated by his brother Bruce — usually on film — his entire life. Now that Bruce is finally off drugs and has turned his life around, things should be different. They are not.

Total Recall Film Review

jessica Biel and Colin Farrell in a scene from Total Recall.
jessica Biel and Colin Farrell in a scene from 'Total Recall' - Photo © 2012 Columbia Pictures Industries, Inc. All Rights Reserved.

Reviewed by Kevin Finnerty

“Why are you trying to kill me?” asks Doug (played by Colin Farrell). “Your memory was erased. Your mind was implanted with a life you think you’ve lived…oh and, by the way, you haven’t even begun to see my try to kill you,” answers Lori (Kate Beckinsale), Doug’s ‘fake’ wife who is intent on killing him now that he’s begun to unravel the mystery of who he really is in the remake of the 1990 science fiction/action/thriller Total Recall.

Total Recall is set over 100 in the future when Earth has been devastated by a chemical world war that has left only two civilizations in existence. One group consists of factory workers and miners who live below in a dark Chinatown-like city, and the other is made up of politicians and their robotic police force (grown to almost militaristic proportions) living above where hover cars and tall buildings still stand.

Doug believes himself to be a dissatisfied, simple factory worker whose only good thing in his pointless life is his loving, loyal and beautiful wife, Lori, who works for the government. But when he visits ‘Rekall’ – a company that provides its clients with fake memories of adventures they would love to have – something goes terribly wrong and the robotic police show up killing everyone in the room. “It’s a mistake! I’m nobody,” screams Doug. But then something in his mind clicks and he reacts taking down the squad of police. Shocked and scared, he runs home and tells his wife what has happened. At first, Lori hugs Doug and starts to comfort him, but that quickly turns to her trying to strangle him. And to Doug’s true horror, he discovers that Lori is a government agent and expert killer. So Doug goes on the run, trying to evade Lori and the robot police while trying to discover who he really is and why the government wants him dead.

Action-packed but flat, Total Recall is an uninteresting, unnecessary retelling of a semi-original, cheesy and at times downright silly science fiction film (that was based on a Philip K Dick short story). It’s a much darker and more serious take on the story, with production sets and cinematography reminiscent of the sci-fi classic movie Blade Runner as well as Minority Report.

Kate Beckinsale is effective as Lori, the government agent assigned to pose as Doug’s wife who becomes obsessed with capturing and killing him when he starts to uncover the ‘truth’ about himself. Her performance as Lori is similar to her portrayal of Selene the vampire warrior in the Underworld films.

Colin Farrell unfortunately comes up short in his performance as Doug/Hauser, the mystery man who knows deep down he’s not the boring factory worker but actually an extremely deadly agent. There is no depth to his character, just the humdrum life he seems to have at first and then the almost constant chasing by the authorities. Farrell has zero chemistry with Jessica Biel who plays Melina, the woman from his nightmares who he’s supposed to be drawn to and eventually realize he loves. It’s a romance that never sparks.

The action scenes are formulaic and there is not an original shot or chase in the film. It’s all been done much better and bigger before in films like Blade Runner, Minority Report, and The Fifth Element.

Total Recall the remake is not any worse than the original film, but it’s not an improvement either. It’s just forgettable. So, forget about seeing it on the big screen.

GRADE: D+

Total Recall was released in theaters on August 3, 2012 and is rated PG-13 for intense sequences of sci-fi violence and action, some sexual content, brief nudity, and language.
