American Idol Auditions Begin in Los Angeles

Auditions for the 12th season of American Idol will kick off on June 7, 2012 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles. Additional cities where auditions will be held include San Antonio, TX, on Thursday, June 14; Charlotte, NC, on Tuesday, June 19; Newark, NJ, on Saturday, June 23; Chicago, IL, on Thursday, July 12; New Orleans, LA, on Tuesday, July 17; and Oklahoma City, OK, on Friday, July 20.

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are Engaged

19 year old Miley Cyrus and her 22 year old Australian boyfriend, Liam Hemsworth, are now engaged. Hemsworth asked Cyrus to marry him on May 31, 2012 and made it official with a 3.5 carat diamond engagement ring from Neil Lane.

Confirming their engagement, Cyrus told PEOPLE, “I’m so happy to be engaged and look forward to a life of happiness with Liam.”

Cyrus and Hemsworth, who plays Gale in The Hunger Games, met while working on the 2009 movie, The Last Song. With The Hunger Games still performing well in theaters and a batch of films in the works, Liam Hemsworth’s career is on the rise. Meanwhile, Cyrus is concentrating on her music at this time (her most recent film project, LOL, failed to find an audience in limited release).

Muse Debuts a Trailer to Promote Their Upcoming Album

Muse is following up the success of their 2009 Grammy-winning album The Resistance with their sixth album, The 2nd Law, coming this September. The group chose to confirm the album’s title – and that it is definitely scheduled for a 2012 release – with a freaky trailer debuting today on Youtube. The video features images of oil wells and tanks, stock prices escalating, and Wall Street panicking, but doesn’t have any specifics on the album itself.

Olivia Culpo, Miss Rhode Island USA, was crowned the winner at the 61st Annual Miss USA Competition held on June 3, 2012 in Las Vegas. Giuliana Rancic and Andy Cohen hosted the event which aired on NBC in front of an estimated worldwide viewing audience of 250 million.
 
From the Miss Universe Organization: “Olivia Culpo is a 19 year-old from Cranson, Rhode Island and is a sophomore at Boston University where she has made the Dean’s List every semester. She grew up in a musical environment. Culpo has played cello for 13 years, sings, and plays the piano. As a cellist, Olivia won seats in Boston Symphony Hall and New York’s famed Carnegie Hall.”
 
The panel of judges included Chef Cat Cora, Ali Fedotowsky, Arsenio Hall, Marilu Henner, Joe Jonas, Rob Kardashian, George Kotsiopoulos, and Miss Universe 2008 Dayana Mendoza.

First Runner Up: Miss Maryland USA, Nana Meriwether, will assume the duties of Miss USA 2012 if the titleholder is named Miss Universe 2012 or if for some reason Miss USA cannot fulfill her duties.

Crosby, Stills and Nash 2012 Summer Tour Details

Crosby, Stills and Nash Greatest HitsCrosby, Stills & Nash may be getting older, but they’re not slowing down. The group has scheduled 60 concert dates this summer, kicking off on June 7th in Philadelphia, PA and finishing up in San Diego, CA on September 30th. CSN recently finished up touring Australia, New Zealand and South America, and they’re set to release their first live video in more than 20 years next month.

Per CSN, CSN 2012 will feature “new, unreleased songs, a rare performance of ‘Suite: Judy Blues Eyes,’ a conversation with David, Graham and Stephen, and interviews with the band and crew.”

Joining Crosby, Stills and Nash on their summer tour are Todd Caldwell (organ), Shane Fontayne (guitar), Steve DiStanislao (drums), Kevin McCormick (bass), and James Raymond (keyboards). $1 from each ticket sold will be donated to charity.

Jennifer Lawrence, currently in theaters starring as Katniss Everdeen in The Hunger Games, finds out what happens when you hang out at a creepy house on your block in House at the End of the Street. Also starring Elisabeth Shue and Max Thieriot, House at the End of the Street hits theaters on September 21, 2012.

The Plot:

House at the End of the Street is about a mother and daughter who move into a new community and find themselves next door to a house in which a psychotic young girl murdered her parents. While the locals insist the girl vanished after the brutal murders, the young newcomer befriends the surviving son and discovers the sinister story is far from over.

Robert Taylor stars in A&E’s one-hour crime drama Longmire premiering on June 3, 2012. The series follows Taylor as Walt Longmire, a man who’s coming to terms with life following his wife’s death.

Season one also stars Cassidy Freeman as Cady, Katee Sackhoff as Vic, Lou Diamond Phillips as Henry Standing Bear, Adam Bartley as The Ferg, and
Bailey Chase as Branch.

The Plot: Widowed only a year, Longmire is a man in psychic repair that buries his pain behind a brave face and dry wit. Struggling since his wife’s death and at the urging of his daughter, Cady, Longmire knows that the time has come to turn his life around. With the help of Vic, a female deputy new to the department, he becomes reinvigorated about his job and committed to running for re-election. When Branch, an ambitious young deputy, decides to run against him for sheriff, Longmire feels betrayed but remains steadfast in his dedication to the community.

Longmire often turns to close friend and confidant Henry Standing Bear for support as he sets out to rebuild both his personal and professional life, one step at a time.

Nero to Support Madonna on Her North American MDNA Tour

Nero is joining one of 2012’s biggest tours: Madonna’s MDNA Tour. The British group (made up of Dan Stephens and Joe Ray) will be opening for Madonna on her North American leg of the tour in support of their debut album, Welcome Reality, released in December on Cherrytree/Interscope Records.

In addition to supporting Madonna, Nero will be performing at this summer’s IDentity Festival, Lollapalooza in Chicago, and Hard Summer Los Angeles in August.

Clive Barker Tapped to Rewrite Zombies vs Gladiators

Clive Barker has come on board the action horror project, Zombies vs. Gladiators, as writer. Amazon Studios director Roy Price made the announcement today, stating: “Zombies vs. Gladiators is now in the hands of someone who has written genre-defining material throughout his career. We are excited to see how Clive will add his unique narrative to capture the essence of this story and propel the project into something unique and original that could one day be enjoyed by all audiences.”
 
“I’m excited by the opportunity to interweave two very rich narrative threads,” said Barker. “One of them concerns itself with the reality of the decadence of Rome and its rise and fall. The other is a fantastical narrative element – the living dead. My brief to myself on this project is to give the audience not only zombies they have never seen before but also a Rome they have never seen before.”
 
Barker added, “Amazon Studios offered up the dream ticket with this project. In twenty five years of working in this town, I’ve rarely had people listen to what I had to say as closely and as carefully as they did and then simply give me the freedom to go do it. Amazon Studios is an innovative creative concept. I am looking forward to providing my own perspective to make Zombies vs. Gladiators a highly commercial and entertaining movie.”
 
The Plot:
 
Based in ancient Rome, the Zombies vs. Gladiators story opens as a shaman who is about to die in the Coliseum casts a spell that unleashes the world’s first zombies. It’s up to a gladiator to stop the spread of the zombie horde and save Rome.
