The Beach Boys 2012 Tour Dates Announced

The Beach Boys revealed they’ll be kicking off their 50th Anniversary Tour on April 24th in Tucson, Arizona at the Anselmo Valencia Amphitheater. This tour marks the first time in more than 20 years that Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, Bruce Johnston, and David Marks will be together as The Beach Boys for concert performances.

The band’s also set to release a new studio album later this year, which is being produced by Brian Wilson and executive produced by Mike Love.

TBS Orders More of ‘For Better or Worse’

TBS says yes – again – to Tyler Perry’s For Better or Worse. Basic cable’s #1 sitcom of 2011, which debuted on Nov. 25, 2011 and averaged 2.9 million viewers, will return with 35 new episodes.

Tyler Perry’s For Better or Worse will be back on Fridays this coming summer with Tasha Smith, Michael Jai White, Crystle Stewart, Kent Faulcon, and Jason Olive in starring roles.

“Tyler Perry’s shows have proven to be a popular draw for TBS on Friday nights,” stated Michael Wright, executive vice president, head of programming for TBS, TNT, and Turner Classic Movies (TCM). “We’re very happy to keep that trend going by ordering more episodes of Tyler Perry’s For Better or Worse.”

The Plot: Tyler Perry’s For Better or Worse follows the ups-and-downs of marriage and dating. The show centers on Angela Williams (Smith), the owner of a successful beauty salon, and her husband of 13 years, Marcus (White). Marcus is a former professional football player who has recently partnered with Richard Ellington (Faulcon) and Joseph Jetson (Olive) on a new sports news program called C-Sports Now.

Marcus’s business relationship with Richard and Joseph is complicated, however, by the fact that Richard is dating Keisha (Haynes), Marcus’s ex-girlfriend and the mother of his teenage daughter. In addition, Joseph’s girlfriend, successful real estate agent Leslie (Stewart), is Angela’s best friend, which sometimes makes it difficult for the couples to keep their business and private lives from mingling.

Blink-182 is co-headlining The Bamboozle Festival 2012 with Bon Jovi and Foo Fighters and they’ve just announced they’ll also be performing at a few other venues in May. The group reunited in 2009 after spending four years apart doing their own projects, and last year they released their sixth album, Neighborhoods, which debuted on the Billboard 200 chart at #2.

Discussing the video for “After Midnight” off of Neighborhoods, Mark Hoppus said, “We wanted something that was a little troubled because the song is a troubled love song. Isaac (Rentz, the director) came up with this idea of a guy and a girl trapped inside of an insane asylum. They find one another, they escape themselves for the evening and they have a night of reckless romance before they get put back into their cells.”

‘Salmon Fishing in the Yemen’ Trailer Starring Ewan McGregor

CBS Films just unveiled a new trailer for Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, the romantic comedy/drama starring Ewan McGregor, Emily Blunt, and Kristin Scott Thomas. Directed by Lasse Hallström (Chocolat, Dear John) and based on the book by Paul Torday, Salmon Fishing in the Yemen hits theaters on March 9, 2012.

The Plot:

A visionary sheik has a big dream — to bring salmon fishing to the desert. Willing to spare no expense, he instructs his representative to turn his dream into reality, an extraordinary feat that will require the involvement of Britain’s leading fisheries expert who happens to think the project both absurd and unachievable. That is, until the Prime Minister’s overzealous press secretary latches on for its potential as a ‘good will’ story.

Now, this unlikely team will put it all on the line and embark on an upstream journey of faith and fish to prove the impossible, possible.

‘The Simpsons’ Creator Matt Groening Receives a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame

How long has The Simpsons been around? Long enough to claim the title of “longest-running scripted show in television history” and long enough for the 500th episode to be ready to air on February 19, 2012 at 8pm ET/PT on Fox (the first episode of the series debuted on January 14, 1990).

Created by Matt Groening, Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie Simpson have become a fixture on television and even graced the big screen in the 2007 animated film, The Simpsons Movie. And on February 14, 2012, Groening received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for bringing us this animated family.

Fox Searchlight’s just released a clip of the first two minutes from the dramatic film Sound of My Voice and whoa, this is a truly bizarre movie. Releasing on April 27, 2012, Sound of My Voice was co-written and directed by Zal Batmanglij and stars Brit Marling, Christopher Denham, and Nicole Vicius.

The Plot:

In Sound of My Voice, Peter (Christopher Denham) and Lorna (Nicole Vicius), a couple and documentary filmmaking team, infiltrate a mysterious group led by an enigmatic young woman named Maggie (Brit Marling). Intent on exposing her as a charlatan and freeing the followers from her grip, Peter and Lorna start to question their objective and each other as they unravel the secrets of Maggie’s underworld.

Adele Ties Whitney Houston and ‘The Bodyguard’ Record

It’s kind of eerie but this week Adele’s 21 has tied Whitney Houston’s The Bodyguard for the most weeks spent at the top of the charts. 21 and The Bodyguard (1992-1993) both spent 20 weeks at the #1 spot on the charts, although Adele will likely be breaking the record next week.

Adele returned to live performances following her successful throat surgery with a performance of “Rolling in the Deep” at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards. Adele’s performance was met with one of the loudest rounds of applause – and a standing ovation – at the star-studded event. She went on to win six Grammys at the February 12, 2012 event, including Record of the Year and Song of the Year. 21 has sold an estimated 6.5 million copies to date.

The Bodyguard soundtrack included Whitney Houston’s hit single “I Will Always Love You,” the song which Jennifer Hudson sang at this year’s Grammys during the tribute to Houston. Houston passed away at the age of 48 the afternoon before the Grammys after being found unresponsive in her hotel room’s bathtub.

The search is now on for the biggest Titanic fan on the planet, with the winner of the contest receiving an amazing prize package that includes:

— Two tickets to the World Premiere in London on March 27
— Roundtrip coach airfare from the U.S. or Canada for two
— Three nights hotel stay
— Passes to a “hop-on-hop-off” city tour for two
— Round-trip transfers to/from hotel while in London

‘Glee’ Video: Amber Riley Sings I Will Always Love You

Completely coincidentally, the February 14, 2012 Valentine’s Day-themed episode of Glee happened to include “I Will Always Love You,” a huge hit for Whitney Houston who passed away on February 11th at the age of 48. Amber Riley (‘Mercedes’) sang the tune in the episode which was dedicated to the late Whitney Houston.
