The documentary Marley – endorsed by Bob Marley’s family – will be heading to theaters on April 20th in the US after being picked up by Magnolia Pictures. Kevin Macdonald (One Day in September, The Last King of Scotland) directed the documentary which was executive produced by Bob’s son, Ziggy Marley.

Magnolia picked it up after it premiered at the 62nd Berlin International Film Festival in February. It’s also set to screen at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin, TX in March.

“Bob Marley is a fascinating, towering figure in musical history, and Marley is the biography that he deserves,” stated Magnolia President Eamonn Bowles in the press release. “Kevin Macdonald has once again shown himself to be a master documentarian with this eye-opening, entertaining, beautifully crafted film.”

“This documentary is the ultimate revelation of my father’s life,” said Executive Producer Ziggy Marley. “The family is proud to be able to have the world finally experience this emotional journey.”

The Story: “Made with the unprecedented support of the Marley family, Marley is the first film to tell the definitive life story of the musician, revolutionary, and legend, from his earliest days to his rise to international superstardom. Along with an incredible soundtrack, the film features rare footage, archival photos, and incredible performances and interviews with his family, friends, and bandmates – the people that knew him best. The film is sure to be a revelation to Bob Marley fans, of which there are many (the triple-platinum artist has nearly 35 million fans on his Facebook page alone), and newcomers alike.”

I don’t really even know what to say about this… Pantelion and Nala Films have put out this new beer commercial starring Casa de mi Padre’s Will Ferrell and Efren Ramirez’ characters galloping around on horses before settling down on some rocks to enjoy a nice cold beer.

As the ranch encounters financial difficulties, Armando’s younger brother Raul (Diego Luna) shows up with his new fiancée, Sonia (Genesis Rodriguez). It seems that Raul’s success as an international businessman means the ranch’s troubles are over as he pledges to settle all debts his father has incurred. But when Armando falls for Sonia, and Raul’s business dealings turn out to be less than legit, all hell breaks loose as they find themselves in a war with Mexico’s most feared drug lord, the mighty Onza (Gael Garcia Bernal).

Puppy Bowl Highlights – The 2012 MVP

So which puppy stood out from the pack at this year’s Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet? Check out the video courtesy of Animal Planet to see who made all the right moves. And don’t worry, parents… Ulike the Super Bowl, not a single puppy behaves in any manner other than G-rated.

The Scoop on Puppy Bowl VIII:

“PUPPY BOWL VIII brings viewers a loveable lineup that’s itching to play in a winning combination of terrier tackles, touchdowns, puppy penalties, fumbles and fido first downs. Featuring fan-favorites like the water bowl cam, kiss cam and an aerial view of the field provided by a blimp and its hamster pilots, this year’s big game adds Meep the Bird who will tweet all the action from inside the stadium and a piggy pep squad that will “ham” it up on the sidelines and squeal with delight for their favorite pups.

Making of The Dog Strikes Back

Meet Bolt, the canine star of this year’s Volkswagen Super Bowl commercial “The Dog Strikes Back.” Bolt is a St. Bernard/Australian Shepherd mix who, according to the director, was able to do pretty much everything they asked of him. Bolt even donned a fat suit to play the out-of-shape dog who puts himself through a rigorous training program in order to slim down and chase the Volkswagen down the street.

Despite the shortcomings of being the only girl in a male household, the boys can sometimes offer solid advice. TiVo Reveals the Most Engaging Super Bowl Commercials

Tivo Super Bowl Ads 2012

Doritos turned out to be the big winner at this year’s Super Bowl, according to TiVo. The digital recording service just announced the top 10 list of the most engaging Super Bowl commercials and Doritos’ “Man’s Best Friend” ad came out on top.

Per the press release, “TiVo is the only second-by-second audience research service which ranks these top ten commercials based on actual commercial retention and viewership relative to the program viewership numbers.”

TiVo’s Tara Maitra, Senior Vice President & General Manager, Content and Media Sales explained, “TiVo’s second-by-second audience research rankings of commercials provides an exclusive picture of viewer engagement during exact moments that resonate the most. This critical point of difference allows us to highlight the true measurement of engagement from specific advertising spots, the halftime entertainment, or highlights from the game – offering a precise look at just what matters to the viewer.”

Top 10 Commercials During the 2012 Super Bowl

1. Doritos “Man’s Best Friend”
2. M&Ms “Ms. Brown”
3. Doritos “Sling Baby”
4. Pepsi “King’s Court”
5. Volkswagen “The Dog Strikes Back”
6. NFL New Fantasy Game “Win a Million Bucks”
7. Acura NSX “Seinfeld”
8. FIAT 500 “Supermodel”
9. Chevy Camaro “Happy Grad”
10. E*Trade Baby “Fatherhood”

“The brands with the top three most-watched commercials did NOT preview their commercials online, proving traditional television debuts of commercials still holds value to rise to the top,” said Maitra.

In addition, TiVo reports this year’s halftime show featuring Madonna was viewed more than the game itself (by 15.7%) and garnered the highest viewership numbers in past four years. And according to TiVo, the most watched moment of the game itself was Tom Brady’s Hail Mary throw into the end zone with just seconds left on the clock.

There isn’t any official word from Fox yet, but The Hollywood Reporter says it’s a done deal. L.A. Reid survived the bloodbath and will be back as a judge on The X Factor. The news of his return comes just days after judges Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul and the show’s host, Steve Jones, were shown the door.

So, we now know Simon Cowell and L.A. Reid will take up two seats on the judges’ panel, but who will fill the two empty chairs? Rumor has it that Mariah Carey could possibly be taking on the task of mentoring aspiring singers on season 2 of The X Factor. As for those reports of Cowell wooing Beyonce with a huge multi-million offer, THR is saying there’s no truth to those rumors.

The Voice Super Bowl Commercial – Vocal Kombat

The Voice returns for season #2 immediately following the 2012 Super Bowl broadcast on NBC at 3pm on February 5th. And even though no further promotion was really necessary – given that huge lead-in – NBC is promoting the singing competition with a special TV spot titled “Vocal Kombat.” In the commercial, The Voice coaches Blake Shelton, Cee Lo Green, Christina Aguilera, and Adam Levine don’t do battle verbally but instead let their fists and feet do the talking.
