RZA Releases an Ol’ Dirty Bastard Tribute Song

RZA, the mastermind behind Wu-Tang Clan, collaborated with Justin Nozuka, Kobra Khan, and James Black for a tribute song in honor of fellow Wu Tang Clan member Ol’ Dirty Bastard. ODB passed away on November 13, 2004, just two days before his 36th birthday.

RZA’s hip-hop version of “How Do I Say Good Bye,” according to the press statement, “also goes out in honor of the life and loss of Heavy D, Joe Fraizer, the fallen US soldiers and all hip hop legends who are no longer with us.”

In a statement to the Associated Press, Demi Moore confirmed she and Ashton Kutcher are divorcing. The couple were married in 2005, and recently, Kutcher’s been accused of cheating on the 49-year-old actress (15 years his senior) fueling rumors of a split.

“It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton. As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life. This is a trying time for me and my family, and so I would ask for the same compassion and privacy that you would give to anyone going through a similar situation,” read Moore’s statement to the AP.

Kutcher also chimed in on the status of their relationship, tweeting today: “I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi. Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail. Love and Light, AK”

Trailer for Vincent D’Onofrio’s ‘Don’t Go in the Woods’

You know, if you’re out in the wilderness with a bunch of friends and you stumble across a sign that says “Don’t go in the woods,” the most intelligent thing to do is turn around and find somewhere else to camp. But given that this is a horror film, no logic is applied to the situation.

Don’t Go in the Woods is the directorial debut of actor Vincent D’Onofrio and will debut on VOD on December 26, 2011, followed by a limited theatrical release in January 2012.

The Story:

Vincent D’Onofrio (Full Metal Jacket, Law & Order: Criminal Intent) explores love, greed and ruthlessness in this twisted musical/horror hybrid, telling the story of a young band who heads to the woods to get away from their everyday lives in order to focus on writing new songs. Hoping to walk away from the trip with new tunes that will score them their big break, they instead find themselves in the middle of a nightmare beyond comprehension.

HBO and Peter Berg Partner Up for On Freddie Roach

Peter Berg (director of the 2012 sci-fi action film Battleship, as well as Hancock and Friday Night Lights) and HBO are teaming up for On Freddie Roach, a half-hour primetime series debuting on the cable network on January 20, 2012. “We are truly excited to partner with Peter Berg on this exceptional production,” stated Michael Lombardo, president, HBO Programming. “Freddie Roach is an extraordinary person and a fascinating personality.”

Berg directed and executive produced the cinéma-vérité series which spotlights Freddie Roach, the “world-famous boxing trainer who owns and operates the famed Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood, where he has produced a host of world champions. This intensely personal look at Roach chronicles his life and career against the backdrop of Parkinson’s disease, an ailment very likely linked to his own boxing past.”

In the press release announcing the show, Berg stated, “HBO’s enthusiasm in supporting a less-conventional, vérité style of storytelling is why they continue to create original and truly innovative programming. It’s why they are the best and we are very excited to be working with them.”

More on Freddie Roach [Courtesy of HBO]:

A native of Dedham, Mass., Freddie Roach has an extensive amateur boxing background. He fought as a professional under the tutelage of legendary Hall of Fame trainer Eddie Futch, ending his professional boxing career in 1987 with a record of 41 wins and 13 losses. Upon retiring, Roach became Futch’s apprentice. In 1992, Mickey Rourke financed his first gym, the Outlaw Boxing Club. Roach has trained more than 20 world champions, including Manny Pacquiao, Amir Khan, Oscar de la Hoya and Mike Tyson. He has been honored five times as Trainer of the Year by the Boxing Writers Association of America and has been inducted into the World Boxing Hall of Fame.

Earlier this year, the U.S. Olympic Committee announced a unique partnership with Roach in an effort to ensure that America’s top amateur fighters have access to the finest training in preparation for the 2012 Olympic Games in London. This partnership will create a program allowing up to ten Olympic hopefuls to train at the Wild Card Gym, which has become synonymous with world-class performance.

The 51-year-old bachelor lives next door to his mother, just a few miles from Wild Card.
