Columbia Pictures just released the first trailer for Moneyball, the dramatic film based on the bestselling book by Michael Lewis. Starring Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill, and Philip Seymour Hoffman, Moneyball is an inside look at Oakland A’s General Manager Billy Beane’s approach to building a major league baseball team.

Moneyball had a rough time of it on its way into production. Mere days from the start of filming, the project lost its director (Steven Soderbergh). After finding a replacement in Capote director Bennett Miller, filming finally got underway in July 2010.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 is one of the most-anticipated films of 2011, and Warner Bros Pictures is doing a fantastic job of driving Muggles across the globe crazy by putting out new trailers, TV spots, posters, and photos once or twice a week over the months leading up to its July release. On June 16th, the second trailer for the final film of the saga was revealed, and it’s easily the best promotional piece yet.

As much as I want to see Deathly Hallows Part 2, it’ll be extremely sad to say goodbye to our three favorite kid/now nearly grown-up wizards: Harry (Daniel Radcliffe), Hermione (Emma Watson), and Ron (Rupert Grint).

Official Synopsis: In Part 2 of the epic finale, the battle between the good and evil forces of the Wizarding world escalates into an all-out war. The stakes have never been higher and no one is safe. But it is Harry Potter who may be called upon to make the ultimate sacrifice as he draws closer to the climactic showdown with Lord Voldemort. It all ends here.

Rock of Ages director Adam Shankman tweeted the first photo of Tom Cruise in character as an ’80s rocker named Stacee Jaxx on the first day of filming. Cruise, 48, looks pretty ripped in this debut photo from the set of the big screen musical based on the critically acclaimed Broadway musical.

Whether or not he can actually handle rocking out (remember when he strutted in his underwear lip-synching to “Old Time Rock ‘n Roll” in Risky Business?), we’ll have to wait to judge for ourselves when Rock of Ages hits theaters in June 2012.

In addition to Cruise, other actors rocking out in Rock of Ages include Julianne Hough, Russell Brand, Mary J Blige, Alec Baldwin, and Diego Boneta.

Official Synopsis: Rock of Ages tells the story of small town girl Sherrie and city boy Drew, who meet on the Sunset Strip while pursuing their Hollywood dreams. Their rock ‘n’ roll romance is told through the heart-pounding hits of Def Leppard, Joan Jett, Journey, Foreigner, Bon Jovi, Night Ranger, REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, Poison, Whitesnake and more.

Cameron Diaz is one R-rated bad teacher in the comedy film Bad Teacher directed by Jake Kasdan (Walk Hard).

Official Synopsis: Some teachers just don’t give an F. For example, there’s Elizabeth (Cameron Diaz). She’s foul-mouthed, ruthless, and inappropriate. She drinks, she gets high, and she can’t wait to marry her meal ticket and get out of her bogus day job. When she’s dumped by her fiancé, she sets her plan in motion to win over a rich, handsome substitute (Justin Timberlake) – competing for his affections with an overly energetic colleague, Amy (Lucy Punch).

When Elizabeth also finds herself fighting off the advances of a sarcastic, irreverent gym teacher (Jason Segel), the consequences of her wild and outrageous schemes give her students, her coworkers, and even herself an education like no other.

Paul Rudd’s an idiot – and I mean absolutely no disrespect by that – in the comedy film Our Idiot Brother. Check out this first poster released by The Weinstein Company in advance of the film’s August 26, 2011 release.

Official Synopsis: Every family has one: the sibling who is always just a little bit behind the curve when it comes to getting his life together. For sisters Liz (Emily Mortimer), Miranda (Elizabeth Banks) and Natalie (Zooey Deschanel), that person is their perennially upbeat brother Ned (Paul Rudd), an erstwhile organic farmer whose willingness to rely on the honesty of mankind is a less-than-optimum strategy for a tidy, trouble-free existence.

Ned may be utterly lacking in common sense, but he is their brother, and so, after his girlfriend dumps him and boots him off the farm, his sisters once again come to his rescue. As Liz, Miranda, and Natalie each take a turn at housing Ned, their brother’s unfailing commitment to honesty creates more than a few messes in their comfortable routines. But as each of their lives begins to unravel, Ned’s family comes to realize that maybe, in believing and trusting the people around him; Ned isn’t such an idiot after all.

Do you think Transformers fans will miss Megan Fox? If you weren’t impressed with Ms. Fox’s acting ability but believed she was only in the big-budget action epics based on a toy line to provide some eye candy, then you’ll probably be fine with her replacement. Model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley makes her feature film acting debut in Michael Bay’s third Transformers movie, Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley plays Shia LaBeouf’s new girlfriend and, apparently, she had no problem with Bay requesting that she look sexy while doing so.

Huntington-Whiteley earned Maxim‘s highest ‘hotness’ honor, placing first on the 11th Annual Hot 100 list – “the definitive list of the world’s most beautiful women.” Huntingon-Whiteley told Maxim being awarded the top spot on the 2011 list was “a huge honor. It’s a great title to have for a year and you can have some fun with it, I think.”

Maxim Editor-in-Chief Joe Levy stated, “Rosie is a true transformer – a VS stunner who is about to go supernova when she takes over for Megan Fox in the Transformers franchise – her talent is as undeniable as her beauty, which is pretty jaw-droppingly undeniable.”

The Hot 100 list is featured in the June 2011 issue of Maxim.
