Clarence Clemons Biography

Clarence Clemons, known to millions of music fans as ‘The Big Man,’ passed away on Saturday, June 18, 2011. The 69-year-old legendary saxophonist died due to complications from a stroke he suffered days prior.

Clemons, who was born in Norfolk, Virginia and attended Maryland State College, was actually on the way to a career in football when a car accident interrupted his plans. A knee injury prevented Clemons, the eldest of three children of fish market owner Clarence Clemons, Sr. and Thelma Clemons, from pursuing a career in football, which turned out to be a blessing in disguise for music fans.

For more than three decades Clemons was a member of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band. The two met in 1971, though the exact details of that meeting are up to debate. Springsteen summed up Clemons in the foreword to the musician’s fictionalized biography, Big Man: Real Life & Tall Tales: “Clarence has spent much of his life as a drifting spirit. Where he walks, the world conforms to his presence. For his size, ‘C’ is an unassuming man. He does not impress himself upon you. He just brings it with him when he comes.”

Following Clemons’ death, Springsteen issued this statement on his official site:

“It is with overwhelming sadness that we inform our friends and fans that at 7:00 tonight, Saturday, June 18, our beloved friend and bandmate, Clarence Clemons passed away. The cause was complications from his stroke of last Sunday, June 12th.

Bruce Springsteen said of Clarence: Clarence lived a wonderful life. He carried within him a love of people that made them love him. He created a wondrous and extended family. He loved the saxophone, loved our fans and gave everything he had every night he stepped on stage. His loss is immeasurable and we are honored and thankful to have known him and had the opportunity to stand beside him for nearly forty years. He was my great friend, my partner, and with Clarence at my side, my band and I were able to tell a story far deeper than those simply contained in our music. His life, his memory, and his love will live on in that story and in our band.”

Michael Bay watched a TV program featuring precision skydivers and knew he had to have them for the third Transformers film, Transformers: Dark of the Moon.  Instead of using green screen and CG, the skydivers actually jumped off of some of Chicago’s downtown landmarks.

And in addition to expert skydivers, the cast of this Transformers features Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Josh Duhamel, and Patrick Dempsey.

The Plot: Shia LaBeouf returns as Sam Witwicky in Transformers: Dark of the Moon. When a mysterious event from Earth’s past erupts into the present day, it threatens to bring a war to Earth so big that the Transformers alone will not be able to save us.

‘Green Lantern’ – Blake Lively Interview at Comic-Con

Blake Lively in ‘Green Lantern.’

Gossip Girls star Blake Lively joined her Green Lantern cast mates at the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con to talk about working on the superhero film from Warner Bros and based on the comic book series.

What’s been the biggest surprise about working on Green Lantern?
Blake Lively: “A lot of it has been a surprise, but I think one of the weirdest things was doing a photo shoot and I said, ‘Wait, what is this one for exactly?,’ and they said, ‘Oh, it’s for your action figures.’ I was wondering why I was posing like that. It’s really cool the excitement that’s happening already. The studio’s really happy with it. They’re seeing dailies and already supporting it, which normally they don’t do that until they test a film. We’re doing everyone proud.”

What about stunt work for you? Did you have to do any sort of training or anything?
Blake Lively: “I had this crazy rig that I had to be on. It was invented for The Matrix. It was 30 feet tall and 20 feet long arm, and this gyroscopic wheel that’s around your waist and it moves off of your weight. It just seems like, ‘Oh, that’s fun and easy,’ but it required so much core strength to slowly control this thing. I would also go on it and go nuts and do cartwheels and spins and send the videos to my nephews. ‘Look how cool your aunt is!’ That was just the best part of it to me. But if we went on to a second or third, that’s when I really get to do the stunts because she becomes a villain.”

What sets this one apart from every other superhero movie out there?
Blake Lively: “Well, the Green Lantern is a really unique film in that it’s interplanetary. There’s the city that it takes place in on Earth, and you know we have our cool things that we do there, like pilot planes. But then there’s also the outer space realm. There are aliens from all over the galaxy. So it encompasses so much, it’s such a big film, it’s such a huge undertaking, and that’s something that you don’t normally see. You either see space, or you see Earth, but to have both in one film is unique.”

Is there a shadowing of Star Sapphire in this film?
Blake Lively: “You know, her piloting name is Star Sapphire. We drop little hints towards all the stories in the comics. But, you know, Star Sapphire is a little bit further down the road. It’s more Sinestro that we [have] this time.”

Are you looking excited to be a villain?
Blake Lively: “I would love to be a villain.”

Veronica’s forthcoming album includes remixes by Eddie Amador, Manuel De La Mare, WAWA and Razor & Guido, with Grammy-nominated producer and remixer Dave Aude on the title track. After the release of last year’s track ‘If You Wanna Fly,’ Veronica earned six U.S. Billboard chart-topping titles and instantly became one of the top-selling artists during the first week of sales, alongside Katy Perry and the Goo Goo Dolls.

‘Every girl’s got a freak side, a wild side,’ said the artist. ‘This song will remind guys they are not the only ones with freaky thoughts, no matter how innocent women may appear.’ The song promises to be this summer’s most infectious anthem, hitting dance floors and radio waves from coast to coast.

Mayra Veronica gushed about the unveiling of July’s music video for ‘Freak Like Me,’ lending clues that it guarantees to get pulses rising with its provocatively flirtatious scenes. Shot on location at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, the sizzling new video features Antonio Sabato, Jr., male supermodel and Janet Jackson’s one-time music video muse. Columbia Pictures just released the first trailer for Moneyball, the dramatic film based on the bestselling book by Michael Lewis. Starring Brad Pitt, Jonah Hill, and Philip Seymour Hoffman, Moneyball is an inside look at Oakland A’s General Manager Billy Beane’s approach to building a major league baseball team.

Moneyball had a rough time of it on its way into production. Mere days from the start of filming, the project lost its director (Steven Soderbergh). After finding a replacement in Capote director Bennett Miller, filming finally got underway in July 2010.

‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2’ Trailer 2

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 is one of the most-anticipated films of 2011, and Warner Bros Pictures is doing a fantastic job of driving Muggles across the globe crazy by putting out new trailers, TV spots, posters, and photos once or twice a week over the months leading up to its July release. On June 16th, the second trailer for the final film of the saga was revealed, and it’s easily the best promotional piece yet.

As much as I want to see Deathly Hallows Part 2, it’ll be extremely sad to say goodbye to our three favorite kid/now nearly grown-up wizards: Harry (Daniel Radcliffe), Hermione (Emma Watson), and Ron (Rupert Grint).

Official Synopsis: In Part 2 of the epic finale, the battle between the good and evil forces of the Wizarding world escalates into an all-out war. The stakes have never been higher and no one is safe. But it is Harry Potter who may be called upon to make the ultimate sacrifice as he draws closer to the climactic showdown with Lord Voldemort. It all ends here.
