The Plot, Courtesy of Netflix:

Water. Earth. Fire. Air. The four nations once lived in harmony, with the Avatar, master of all four elements, keeping peace between them. But everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked and wiped out the Air Nomads, the first step taken by the firebenders towards conquering the world. With the current incarnation of the Avatar yet to emerge, the world has lost hope.

But like a light in the darkness, hope springs forth when Aang (Cormier), a young Air Nomad — and the last of his kind — reawakens to take his rightful place as the next Avatar. Alongside his newfound friends Sokka (Ousley) and Katara (Kiawentiio), siblings and members of the Southern Water Tribe, Aang embarks on a fantastical, action-packed quest to save the world and fight back against the fearsome onslaught of Fire Lord Ozai (Dae Kim).

But with a driven Crown Prince Zuko (Liu) determined to capture them, it won’t be an easy task. They’ll need the help of the many allies and colorful characters they meet along the way.

‘The Crown’ Season 6 Part 1 Releases First Official Photos

Netflix has released photos from part one of the sixth and final season of The Crown, with the first batch featuring Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana and Khalid Abdalla as Dodi Fayed. The photo drop also includes pics of Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth II, Dominic West as Prince Charles, and Salim Daw as Mohamed Al Fayed.

Part one of the final season focuses on the relationship between Princess Diana and Dodi, a relationship that ended with the horrific car crash in the Pont de l’Alma tunnel in Paris.

“I think it’s a really unique challenge as an actor, to portray those days,” said Elizabeth Debicki in an interview with Netflix‘s Tudum prior to the SAG-AFTRA strike. “I really just trusted in Peter’s emotional blueprint that he created for us to follow. It’s his interpretation and I think it made emotional sense to me, so I clung to that. Because, obviously, it’s devastating and it’s fraught and we can never know.”

Season six part one premieres on Netflix on November 16, 2023. The six-episode part two follows on December 14.

Dominic West in season 6 part 1 (Photo Credit: Netflix)

Per Netflix: Part two focuses on Prince William as he tries to integrate back into life at Eton in the wake of his mother’s death as the monarchy has to ride the wave of public opinion. Plus, as Queen Elizabeth II reaches her Golden Jubilee, the Queen reflects on the future of the monarchy with the marriage of Charles and Camilla and the beginnings of a new Royal fairytale in William and Kate.

“I’ve been living with her for a long time so, if anything, I felt more comfortable this time. I love her stillness and her ability to not be thrown by everything that must have constantly – throughout her whole life – gone on around her,” said Staunton in April 2023.

Dominic West had this to say about playing Prince Charles: “I think he’s got real sadness to him and real compassion and what’s great about The Crown is that you see these public figures in private. I suspect in private he’s quite emotional, well that’s the way I played him anyway… I think, hopefully, what comes out is compassionate but relatively well-balanced.”

The Crown was created and written by Peter Morgan who serves as an executive producer along with Suzanne Mackie, Andy Harries, Stephen Daldry, Matthew Byam Shaw, and Robert Fox.

American Fiction is Cord Jefferson’s hilarious directorial debut, which confronts our culture’s obsession with reducing people to outrageous stereotypes. Jeffrey Wright stars as Monk, a frustrated novelist who’s fed up with the establishment profiting from ‘Black’ entertainment that relies on tired and offensive tropes,” reads the official synopsis. “To prove his point, Monk uses a pen name to write an outlandish ‘Black’ book of his own, a book that propels him to the heart of hypocrisy and the madness he claims to disdain.”

American Fiction will open in select theaters on December 15, 2023 followed by a wider release on December 22.
