Jack Kesy (12 Strong) has landed the lead role in Millennium Media’s Hellboy: The Crooked Man. Mike Mignola, creator of the Hellboy comics, wrote the screenplay with Chris Golden, and Brian Taylor (Crank) is on board to direct.

“Jack Kesy is a dynamic actor who has the ability to morph into his roles. His talent and stature are perfect for this younger Hellboy. I was very impressed with him while working together on The Outpost,” stated Co-President of Millennium Media, Jonathan Yunger.

In addition to 12 Strong and The Outpost, Kesy’s credits include Dark Web: Cicadia 3301, Without Remorse, Mosquito State, Deadpool 2, Baywatch, and Eli Roth’s Death Wish. He recently wrapped up work on Murder at Hollow Creek and Sheroes.

Ron Perlman took on the character in 2004’s Hellboy and 2008’s Hellboy II: The Golden Army, both directed by Guillermo del Toro. Stranger Things‘ David Harbour played the titular character in 2019’s Hellboy directed by Neil Marshall.

In 2018, Millennium Media picked up the rights to Hellboy, and The Crooked Man marks the first collaboration between Millennium Media and German film and TV distributor, Telepool. Dark Horse Entertainment’s Mike Richardson and Millennium Media’s Jeffrey Greenstein, Jonathan Yunger, Les Weldon, Rob Van Norden, and Yariv Lerner are producing. Executive producers include Mike Mignola, Millennium Media’s Avi Lerner, Trevor Short, Boaz Davidson, and Tanner Mobley, and Campbell Grobman Films’ Lati Grobman and Christa Campbell. Telepool’s Michael Muellner and Julia Muentefering are also executive producing.

Millennium Media offered this synopsis:

“Stranded in 1950s rural Appalachia, Hellboy and a rookie BPRD agent discover a small community haunted by witches, led by a local devil with a troubling connection to Hellboy’s past: the Crooked Man.”

‘Haunted Mansion’ Teaser Trailer: Home is Where the Haunt Is

20 years after Disney released Haunted Mansion starring Eddie Murphy, the Mouse House is at it again with a new comedy inspired by the popular theme park ride. 2003’s PG-rated family-friendly film rang up $24 million over its opening weekend and grossed $182 million worldwide before exiting theaters. The first teaser trailer for the 2023 version confirms it’s also targeting families and is going for the comically creepy adventure vibe.

2023’s Haunted Mansion stars LaKeith Stanfield, Tiffany Haddish, Owen Wilson, Danny DeVito, Rosario Dawson, Chase W. Dillon, and Dan Levy. Jamie Lee Curtis is Madame Leota and Jared Leto pops in as The Hatbox Ghost.

Dan Harmon’s ‘Krapopolis’ Snags an Early Season 3 Renewal

Krapopolis Animated Comedy

Krapopolis season one hasn’t even premiered yet, and Fox has already given the animated series a third season renewal order. The network has renewed Dan Harmon’s new comedy for season three ahead of its season one premiere, planned for the 2023-2024 primetime season.

“The 2023-24 season is the perfect launching pad for this highly-anticipated and very funny animated comedy, complete with multiple seasons of epic laughs for fans,” stated Michael Thorn, President, Scripted Programming, of FOX Entertainment. “The more we see from production, the more excited we are about their creativity, story arcs, flawless execution, brilliant voice cast, and ability to pump out episode after episode of astonishing events and outrageous, unexpected hilarity.”

The talented voice cast includes Emmy Award winner Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso), Richard Ayoade (The IT Crowd), Matt Berry (What We Do in The Shadows), Pam Murphy (Mapleworth Murders), and Duncan Trussell (The Midnight Gospel).

Rick and Marty co-creator Dan Harmon created, writes, and executive produces the new animated comedy. The series is a Fox Entertainment and Bento Box Entertainment production.

Fox offers this description of the series and its key characters:

Krapopolis is set in mythical ancient Greece and tells the story of a dysfunctional family of humans, gods and monsters that try their hand at running the world’s first cities – without trying to kill each other, that is.

In the series, Ayoade voices “Tyrannis,” the mortal son of a goddess. He’s the benevolent King of Krapopolis, trying to make do in a city that lives up to its name. Waddingham plays “Deliria,” Tyrannis’ mother, goddess of self-destruction and questionable choices. Within her extended Olympian family – forged in patricide and infidelity – she’s known as the trashy one.

Berry is “Shlub,” Tyrannis’ father, a mantitaur (half centaur [horse + human], half manticore [lion + human + scorpion]). He is oversexed and underemployed, claims to be an artist, and has literally never paid for anything, in any sense of that word, for his entire life. Murphy voices “Stupendous,” Tyrannis’ half-sister, daughter of Deliria and a cyclops. Trussell plays “Hippocampus,” Tyrannis’ half-brother, offspring of Shlub and a mermaid, and, obviously, a hot mess, biologically speaking.

Netflix Unveils First ‘Chupa’ Photos Ahead of April Premiere

Chupa Movie Creature

Although Netflix’s family adventure Chupa is inspired by the legend of the chupacabra, director Jonás Cuarón was determined to make the creature at the heart of his film much less fearsome than the mythical creature. “Our goal was to create an incredibly cute creature based on a terrifying legend,” said Cuarón in an interview with Netflix’s Tudum. “The mythical creature was described as a hairless dog with wings and sharp teeth. Chupa is furry and incredibly cute.”

The first photos from Chupa confirm this creature, at least as a youngster, is anything but terrifying.

Cuarón added: “I’ve always been a huge fan of E.T. and believe that stories like that are so powerful because they play on the idea of kids being misunderstood by adults. Chupa might be a monster, but he’s the only one that truly understands what Alex is going through. The bond between a boy and a creature is so pure, like with a pet, it transcends language.”

Cuarón directed from a screenplay by Sean Kennedy Moore, Joe Barnathan, and Marcus Rinehart. 26th Street Pictures’ Chris Columbus, Mark Radcliffe, and Michael Barnathan produced, with G. Mac Brown, Anna Barnathan Barry, and Brendan Bellomo executive producing.

The Chupa cast includes Demián Bichir, Evan Whitten, Christian Slater, Ashley Ciarra, Nickolas Verdugo, Adriana Paz, Gerardo Taracena, and Julio Cesar Cedillo. Netflix has set an April 7, 2023 premiere date.

The Plot, Courtesy of Netflix:

Shy 13-year-old Alex (Whitten) flies from Kansas City to Mexico to meet his extended family for the first time. There he meets his grandfather and former lucha libre champion Chava (Bichir), energetic, wrestling-obsessed cousin Memo (Verdugo), and fearless, hip cousin Luna (Ciarra). But just as Alex begins to get his bearings, he discovers a mythical creature living under his grandfather’s shed: a young chupacabra cub, which he recognizes from stories of the feared, full-grown chupacabra, fabled to feed on farmers’ livestock.

Alex soon learns that his new friend “Chupa” has a secret history with his family and that dogged, dangerous scientist Richard Quinn (Slater) is hunting the misunderstood creature to try and harness his powers. To protect Chupa from impending danger, Alex sets off on the adventure of a lifetime, one that will push the bonds of his newfound family to the brink, and remind him that life’s burdens are lighter when you don’t have to carry them alone.

Chupa is a nostalgic journey through myth, memory, and the making of one’s own personal legend.
