The Voice coach Adam Levine had one of the most difficult decisions of the current season to make when he paired Alessandra Castronovo and Joe Kirk to sing Rihanna’s “Stay” during the battle rounds on October 14, 2014. Kirk and Castronovo nailed it, and Levine’s fellow coaches had high praise for both contestants. Blake Shelton even went as far as to say what Joe did “might be the most perfect vocals I’ve ever heard” while Pharrell Williams said with Alessandra he saw “a diva on the stage.”

Levine was really hoping Shelton, Williams, and Gwen Stefani would help him decide which team member to keep, but ultimately it was up to Levine who delayed the decision until host Carson Daly forced him to make a choice.
