‘American Horror Story: Coven’ Gets a Premiere Date and New Teaser Trailer

FX’s critically acclaimed series American Horror Story returns for season three with the title of American Horror Story: Coven and a premiere date of October 9, 2013 at 10pm. The date was revealed at the end of the short (as in 30 seconds) teaser trailer titled “Stakes.” Yes, it’s all about witches this coming season and returning for more grisly fun are Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Frances Conroy, Denis O’Hare, Evan Peters, Lily Rabe, and Taissa Farmiga. The cast also includes Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Gabourey Sidibe, Patti LuPone, and Emma Roberts.

The Plot: Coven tells the secret history of witches and witchcraft in America. Over 300 years have passed since the turbulent days of the Salem witch trials and those who managed to escape are now facing extinction. Mysterious attacks have been escalating against their kind and young girls are being sent away to a special school in New Orleans to learn how to protect themselves. Wrapped up in the turmoil is new arrival, Zoe (Farmiga), who is harboring a terrifying secret of her own. Alarmed by the recent aggression, Fiona (Lange), the long-absent Supreme, sweeps back into town, determined to protect the Coven and hell-bent on decimating anyone who gets in her way.
