December 31, 1999

Summer of 1999

It’s the morning after Luke’s party and Megan (Sadie Stanley) is mortified about the fact she was about to kiss Luke, but he ran off to vomit. Isabella (Lexi Underwood) gives her a pep talk.

And speaking of Luke (Griffin Gluck), he shows up as Megan and Isabella are in the midst of cleaning up after the party. Isabella puts him to work to help clean.

As they clean, Luke confesses some of the party was a blur, especially toward the end of the night. (He’s making excuses for running off.) Luke needs to take off to get the cabin ready for a big storm coming, and Isabella suggests that Megan go with him to help.

Megan finds old walkie-talkies that she and Luke use to play with as children. As they reminisce, they decide to go out on an adventure in the woods and try them out.

After the two frolic through the woods, it appears that Luke is finally seeing Megan in a different light. It looks like they might kiss, but Megan decides to race him to the docks.

Megan and Luke get separated in the woods and communicate via the walkies. She informs him that she and Jeff broke up, and Luke seems surprised. Their conversation is cut off when Ned (Ben Cotton) catches Luke on his property. After helping Luke with his walkie, Ned reminds him that he values his privacy. Ned warns Luke to stay on his own property.

A short while later, Megan and Luke are down by the docks. After Luke shows Megan a scar on his hand, they hold hands. He brings up how things were lousy back when they were little and how she was always there. He can’t picture his world without her. He comes clean about remembering what happened at his party and the almost-kiss. Luke finally kisses her.

Winter of 1999

In episode six, Luke tried to kiss Isabella at the plunge. Now, Megan asks Isabella how the plunge went, and Isabella doesn’t offer up any of that information. She simply says it was fun.

Later, Megan and Luke are doing some shopping for their big New Year’s Eve party when Megan asks what he thinks Isabella was after when she kissed him. Luke claims not to know but throws out there that he thinks Isabella is jealous of his and Megan’s relationship. He thinks she’s possessive over Megan.

Megan seems a bit taken aback by that and claims not to have gotten that vibe from Isabella at all. Luke adds that he feels Isabella likes when he and Megan are in a rough place so she “can swoop in with her cape and be super BFF.”

Megan runs into Ned in the parking lot, and he notices all the New Year’s decorations and becomes visibly upset. He believes in Y2K and warns her this isn’t some joke. He angrily grabs Megan by the shoulders, and Luke comes to her defense, pushing him away. Ned accuses Luke of being just like his father and leaves him with chilling parting words: “You are going to get a very harsh wakeup call, little Chambers, and it might just be your last.”

Megan’s mad at Luke for the fight with Ned, claiming she doesn’t need a protector. After getting news that the party can’t happen at their friend Tim’s house, Luke thinks they can move it to an old cannery his dad just bought.

Luke’s dad, Steve (Paul Adelstein), finds out about the altercation between Luke and Ned. After Steve belittles his son for a few minutes, he reminds him that his actions have consequences for their family.

As Luke leaves his dad’s office, he and his brother have a nice moment. Brent (Braeden De La Garza) gives him the keys to the cannery so he can throw his party there.

Megan takes a pregnancy test and finds out she’s pregnant!

That night, the party’s in full swing and Jeff (Nile Bullock) has his camcorder going, asking people their thoughts on Y2K.

Megan confronts Isabella about trying to kiss Luke, and Isabella does what she does best and guilt trips Megan for believing Luke over her.

It turns out Luke is a sleazeball and Megan overhears him bragging to his friends how he can handle both Megan and Isabella – no problem. He claims to have both wrapped around his finger. He also tells his buddies that he kissed Isabella at the plunge because he needs to get some practice in before college.

After telling Jeff that her new year’s resolution is to take charge of her own destiny, Megan finds Isabella and tells her she’s right and apologizes for not believing her. As Megan tells Isabella that she’s not going to let him get away with this, Jeff catches the girls on camera looking like they’re in a heated discussion.

After Isabella asks what Megan’s thinking, Megan replies, “I want to make Luke wish he never met us.”

Summer of 2000

Megan’s lawyer shows up and delivers the news that she’s being officially charged.

Steve Chambers has hired his own private investigator to find Luke’s killer. Steve tells his only remaining son, Brent, that the PI discovered Megan is some kind of hacker. She breaks into sites, gathers information, and then gets paid for doing it. Steve knows she’s been working with Ned.

Steve claims Ned has been after him for years and that he’s unhinged. He thinks Ned might have killed Luke because of a scuffle they had over Megan.

Megan learns she’s being charged with fraud. It turns out the IT in the police department got into her computer and found the fake IDs she and Jeff made. She’s being charged with a misdemeanor.

Megan realizes she’s going to lose her scholarship, and her lawyer says he can’t do anything about it.

Megan runs into Jeff and he reveals he’s about to take off on a road trip to college. He asks when she’s leaving for college, and Megan explains that’s not going to happen anymore because she was charged with making fake IDs. Jeff confesses that he was the one who told the cops about them. He got busted trying to buy beer with his fake ID and they demanded to know who made them. He threw Megan under the bus.

Brent gives Megan a heads-up that Steve hired a PI and knows she’s been working with Ned. After Megan defends Ned, Brent informs her that Ned stole money from his former employer. Not only that, but he also assaulted his boss and put him in the hospital. Megan seems not to know any of that.

Megan goes to see Ned and asks for help getting this arrest off her record. Unfortunately, he can’t help her. She gives him a heads-up that Steve is investigating him because he’s convinced Ned has something to do with Luke’s death.

As Ned gets to work looking into Steve (since Steve is looking into him), Megan notices a monitor that has several different camera angles covering the outside. She asks if he’s always had the cameras that point toward the road, and he confirms they’ve been there since he moved in. Just then, they see Steve pulling up to Ned’s place and Megan panics. She can’t get caught there. Ned suggests she leave through the back door, and when she does, she runs right into Brent, who looks betrayed. He doesn’t stop her.

Ned confronts Steve, and Steve reveals he thinks he killed Luke because he found out he was doing illegal things. Ned orders him to get off his property.

Megan’s principal calls her and informs her that UW has rescinded her scholarship. Megan drops to the floor with tears in her eyes, devastated.

Episode seven ends in the winter of 1999. The countdown to 2000 is on and as they share a midnight kiss, Megan convinces Luke to go back to his cabin … just the two of them.
