Demi Moore (FEUD: Capote Vs. The Swans) has joined the cast of Paramount+’s new drama Landman. Oscar-winner Billy Bob Thornton leads the cast of the series, co-created by Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace, and Moore will be playing a close friend of his who’s the wife of one of the Texas’ most powerful oil men.

“Demi Moore is an iconic and extraordinary talent,” stated Chris McCarthy, President and CEO, SHOWTIME/MTV Entertainment Studios. “We are thrilled to have her join Billy Bob Thornton and the star-studded cast of Landman, our next epic series from Taylor Sheridan.”

In addition to Thornton, previously announced cast members include Ali Larter (The Rookie), Michelle Randolph (1923), and Jacob Lofland (Joker 2). Kayla Wallace (When Calls the Heart), James Jordan (Yellowstone), Mark Collie (Nashville), and Paulina Chávez (The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia) also star.

“Set in the proverbial boomtowns of West Texas, Landman is a modern-day tale of fortune seeking in the world of oil rigs,” reads Paramount+’s synopsis. “Based on the notable 11-part podcast ‘Boomtown,’ the series is an upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires fueling a boom so big, it’s reshaping our climate, our economy and our geopolitics.”

Paramount+ announced on February 6, 2024 that filming is now underway in and around Fort Worth, Texas.

Taylor Sheridan, David C. Glasser, David Hutkin, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, Christian Wallace, Geyer Kosinski, Michael Friedman and Stephen Kay serve as executive producers. Imperative Development LLC’s Dan Friedkin and Jason Hoch and Texas Monthly’s J.K. Nickell and Megan Creydt also executive produce. The series is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios, and Sheridan’s Bosque Ranch Productions for Paramount+.
