Paramount+’s upcoming drama Landman continues to fill out its cast, adding Emmy winner Jon Hamm (Mad Men) in a recurring role. Hamm’s character, Monty Miller, is described as a titan of the Texas Oil industry who has a long personal and professional relationship with Tommy Norris, played by Oscar winner Billy Bob Thornton.

The previously announced cast also includes Ali Larter (The Last Victim), Michelle Randolph (1923), Jacob Lofland (Joker 2), and Kayla Wallace (When Calls the Heart). Plus, James Jordan (Yellowstone), Mark Collie (Nashville), Paulina Chávez (The Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia), and Demi Moore (Feud: Capote Vs. The Swans) will star in the original drama from co-creators Taylor Sheridan and Christian Wallace.

“Set in the proverbial boomtowns of West Texas, Landman is a modern-day tale of fortune seeking in the world of oil rigs,” reads Paramount+’s synopsis. “Based on the notable 11-part podcast ‘Boomtown,’ the series is an upstairs/downstairs story of roughnecks and wildcat billionaires fueling a boom so big, it’s reshaping our climate, our economy, and our geopolitics.”

Filming is currently underway in and around Fort Worth, Texas.

Sheridan and Wallace executive produce along with David C. Glasser, David Hutkin, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, Geyer Kosinski, Michael Friedman, and Stephen Kay. Imperative Development LLC’s Dan Friedkin and Jason Hoch and Texas Monthly’s Jason Hoch and J.K. Nickell also executive produce.

Jon Hamm’s recent credits include a scene-stealing turn in Fargo as a corrupt, right-wing sheriff. Hamm was also recently seen in Mean Girls (the 2024 musical version), The Morning Show, and Good Omens.
