‘The Devil’s Plan’ Competition Series is Renewed for Season 2

The Devil’s Plan season one featured some of the most challenging (mentally, not physically) and complicated games of any unscripted reality series. 12 contestants used strategy, math skills, and their ability to deceive their fellow The Devil’s Plan participants in a battle for the 250 million won (about $190,000 US dollars) grand prize, with actor Ha Seok-jin ultimately emerging as the winner.

The South Korean reality competition series, described as a game of “wit, strategy, and wisdom,” proved to be incredibly popular on Netflix. The series ranked third on the streaming service’s Top 10 TV Shows (Non-English) list and also made it onto Top 10 lists in 23 countries. And given its viewership (and reasonable budget), it’s no surprise the series has been renewed for season two.

Season one’s contestants included a lawyer, doctor, science YouTuber, professional gamer, and actors. The names and occupations of season two’s competitors haven’t been announced.

The Devil’s Plan producer Jeong Jong-yeon’s thanked viewers for supporting the series, saying, “Please look forward to a completely new version of The Devil’s Plan!”

With an intriguing plot development filled with twists and turns, The Devil’s Plan captivated viewers and turned them into fervent fans. The participants, each armed with their unique strategies and motives, collaborate or betray each other to win. Furthermore, the players are isolated without access to electronics like smartphones, creating the perfect environment for them to create their own community with evolving relationship dynamics.

This setup also serves as a “social experiment” in line with the devilish theme of the series title, resulting in the players exhibiting completely different behaviors which add to the entertainment in unexpected ways.
