‘Doctor Who’ 60th Anniversary Specials Set Disney+ Premiere Dates

The BBC and Disney Branded Television have set premiere dates for three Doctor Who 60th anniversary specials, and launched a one-minute teaser trailer starring fan-favorites David Tennant and Catherine Tate. The special anniversary celebration kicks off with “The Star Beast” streaming on Disney+ on November 25, 2023. “Wild Blue Yonder” follows on December 2nd, with “The Giggle” debuting on December 9th.

Disney+ offers this tantalizingly short description of the Doctor Who specials:

“‘The Star Beast,’ ‘Wild Blue Yonder,’ and ‘The Giggle’ will reunite the Fourteenth Doctor (David Tennant) and Donna Temple-Noble (Catherine Tate) as they come face-to-face with their most terrifying villain yet: the Toymaker (played by Neil Patrick Harris in his Doctor Who debut).”

The specials also star Yasmin Finney as Rose Temple-Noble, Miriam Margolyes as the voice of the Meep, and Ruth Madeley as Shirley Anne Bingham. Returning players include Jacqueline King as Sylvia Noble, Karl Collins as Shaun Temple, and Jemma Redgrave as Kate Lethbridge-Stewart.

The new season of Doctor Who starring Ncuti Gatwa (Sex Education) as the Fifteenth Doctor is targeting a 2024 premiere.
