The CW’s The 100, a riveting science fiction series filled with interesting and complex characters, will return in early 2016 for its third season. Series creator Jason Rothenberg has crafted an edgy show that isn’t afraid to kill off fan favorite characters, if their deaths make sense within the story. And speaking with Eliza Taylor (“Clarke Griffin”) at the 2015 San Diego Comic Con, she confirmed that she’s always a little afraid of opening a script and reading about Clarke’s death. “I’m just like really nice to everyone so that that doesn’t happen,” said Taylor, laughing. “It’s definitely a scary thing. You never know who is going to go next.”

The cast hasn’t been provided with details on season three so even if Taylor wanted to give away any juicy tidbits, she couldn’t. “We never know. I’m used to it now. We never actually get too much information,” explained Taylor. “I kind of like it that way, although I am always scared that they’re going to kill me. It’ll be like open a script, ‘Oh, great.'”

What she could say about Clarke in the upcoming season is that she’ll be off on her own. “I can definitely guarantee that she’s losing her mind a little bit. We’re starting season three three months after the season finale. So, she’s been on her own for quite some time which I’m really excited to play. It’s going to get weird,” said Taylor. “It was very un-Clarke-like to just abandon her people like that. So, I don’t know how long it’s going to take for her to go back to them. I hope she does though. I really do.”

She also revealed that the series’ tone will be darker than even season two. “As if you’d think that was possible, yeah. Yeah, I think it is,” said Taylor. “I mean, it’s going to be different – really different – in the way that we’ve got more of a sci-fi aspect with the artificial intelligence. I think that that’s going to be cool.”

Taylor hopes that Clarke will deal with both Lexa (played by Alycia Debnam-Carey) and Octavia (Marie Avgeropoulos) in season three. The relationships have been splintered and Clarke’s not sure how the three will interact – if at all – in the upcoming season. “I’d love it if Lexa came back because I think that would be really explosive. So, yeah, we’ll see,” said Taylor. As for Octavia and Clarke’s relationship, Taylor said, “I think it’s going to be hard. She’s not in the good books. I think that that’ll be pretty explosive too, actually. I hope that they reconcile though because I love working with Marie. She’s the bomb.”

Rothenberg’s The 100 is full of interesting worlds for the characters to explore, something which Taylor’s thankful about. “It’s great to be opening up all these worlds. We’re creating this incredible sort of network. Jason’s a huge fan of Game of Thrones so that’s where he gets that from. But yeah, like the City of Light and Polis. I would love to see us go to the Ice Nation. I don’t know where we’d shoot that – maybe in Whistler or something. But I think that would be really cool,” said Taylor.
