‘Fleishman Is In Trouble’ Trailer with Claire Danes and Jesse Eisenberg

The trailer for FX’s limited series Fleishman Is In Trouble introduces the titular character as a man struggling to understand pretty much everything about his life. The recently divorced father of two has no idea how he got to this place in his life or what to do moving forward. And, as the trailer teases, he’s going to face the added pressure of trying to figure out why his ex-wife has suddenly disappeared.

Oscar nominee Jesse Eisenberg (The Social Network) stars as Toby Fleishman and three-time Emmy winner Claire Danes (Homeland) plays his ex, Rachel. The cast also includes Meara Mahoney Gross, Maxim Swinton, Lizzy Caplan, and Adam Brody.

Taffy Brodesser-Akner created the series, based on her novel, and serves as writer and executive producer. Sarah Timberman, Carl Beverly, and Susannah Grant also executive produce, with Valerie Faris and Jonathan Dayton directing and executive producing. Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini direct multiple episodes that they also executive produced.

The first two episodes of Fleishman Is In Trouble arrive on Hulu on Thursday, November 17, 2022.

The Plot:

Fleishman Is In Trouble is the story of recently divorced 41-year-old “Toby Fleishman” (Eisenberg), who dives into the brave new world of app-based dating with the kind of success he never had dating in his youth, before he got married at the tail end of medical school. But just at the start of his first summer of sexual freedom, his ex-wife, “Rachel” (Danes), disappears, leaving him with 11-year-old “Hannah” (Mahoney Gross) and 9-year-old “Solly” (Swinton) and no hint of where she is or whether she plans to return.

As he balances parenting, the return of old friends “Libby” (Caplan) and “Seth” (Brody), a potential promotion at the hospital that is a long time coming — and all the eligible women that Manhattan has to offer — he realizes that he’ll never be able to figure out what happened to “Rachel” until he can finally face what happened to their marriage in the first place.
