Actress, writer and director Eva Longoria serves as one of the executive producers on ABC’s new series, Grand Hotel, which recently unveiled its first official trailer. Grand Hotel is based on the Spanish series Gran Hotel and will be a part of ABC’s 2018-2019 primetime lineup.
The cast is led by Oscar nominee Demian Bichir (A Better Life) as Santiago Mendoza and Roselyn Sanchez (Devious Maids) as Gigi Mendoza. The series also stars Denyse Tontz (The Fosters) as Alicia Mendoza, Bryan Craig (General Hospital) as Javi Mendoza, Wendy Raquel Robinson (The Mayor) as Mrs. P, Lincoln Younes (Love Child) as Danny, Shalim Ortiz (La Hermandad) as Mateo, Anne Winters (13 Reasons Why) as Ingrid, Chris Warren (The Hard Times of RJ Berger) as Jason, Feliz Ramirez as Carolina, and Justina Adorno (Seven Seconds) as Yoli.
Discussing Demian Bichir’s first network television role, Eva Longoria told The Hollywood Reporter she couldn’t picture anyone else in the part. “I’ve done two movies with Demian and he acts with a quiet force that conveys the strength this character needs. I am so excited to be assembling this all-star cast that reflects the world in which we live,” said Longoria.
Grand Hotel is written and executive produced by Brian Tanen (Devious Maids, Desperate Housewives), with Ben Spector (UnbeliEVAble), Ramon Campos, and Teresa Fernandez-Valdes (Beta) also executive producing. The pilot was directed by Ken Olin (This Is Us, Brothers & Sisters).
The Plot: Charismatic Santiago Mendoza (Bichir) owns the hotel, while his glamorous second wife, Gigi (Sanchez), and their adult children enjoy the spoils of success. The hotel’s loyal staff round out a contemporary, fresh take on an upstairs/downstairs story. Wealthy and beautiful guests bask in luxury, but scandals, escalating debt and explosive secrets hide beneath the picture-perfect exterior.
