CBS has a special treat planned for the season/series finale of Young Sheldon. The network just released the first photos of Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik, confirming they’re reuniting to reprise their The Big Bang Theory characters to help send off the prequel.
The Young Sheldon series finale will mark the first time Parsons and Bialik have appeared together on screen as Sheldon Cooper and Amy Farrah Fowler since The Big Bang Theory ended in 2019. Parsons has remained involved in the franchise, narrating the prequel and executive producing. Bialik returned for a voiceover for two episodes: season four’s premiere and season five episode 16.
“Young Sheldon centers on Sheldon Cooper, a once-in-a-generation mind capable of advanced mathematics and science, which isn’t always helpful in a land where church and football are king. And while the vulnerable, gifted and somewhat naïve Sheldon deals with the world, his very normal family must find a way to deal with him,” reads CBS’s synopsis. “For 12 years on The Big Bang Theory, audiences came to know the iconic, eccentric, and extraordinary Sheldon Cooper. This single-camera, half-hour comedy takes viewers through his childhood, as he embarks on his innocent, awkward, and hopeful journey toward the man he will become.”
The series stars Iain Armitage, Zoe Perry, Lance Barber, Annie Potts, Montana Jordan, Raegan Revord, and Emily Osment. Osment and Jordan will continue on with their characters in a spinoff. Chuck Lorre and Steven Molaro created the series and serve as executive producers. Additional executive producers include Parsons, Steve Holland, Nick Bakay, and Todd Spiewak.
Young Sheldon‘s finale with guest stars Parsons and Bialik will air on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at 8pm ET/PT.
