One of the highlights of the 2013 Academy Awards was the musical number performed by the cast of Les Miserables. Among the Les Mis cast members taking part in the tribute to musicals released in the past decade were Oscar nominees Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway (who wound up winning Best Supporting Actress for playing ‘Fantine’) as well as Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne, Sacha Baron Cohen, Helena Bonham Carter, and Samantha Barks.

The Les Miserables Plot: Set against the backdrop of 19th-century France, Les Misérables tells the story of ex-prisoner Jean Valjean (Jackman), hunted for decades by the ruthless policeman Javert (Crowe), after he breaks parole. When Valjean agrees to care for factory worker Fantine’s (Hathaway) young daughter, Cosette, their lives change forever.
