The drug business behind bars is back in full swing on Paramount+’s Mayor of Kingstown season two episode seven. Drones drop packages of drugs into the yard that are then taken by the Aryan Brotherhood to the kitchen to be broken down for individual sales – all with the guards’ tacit approval.

Bunny (Tobi Bamtefa) meets with Mike (Jeremy Renner) in the prison’s kennels and points out the Aryan Brotherhood’s back in business with the help of technology. Bunny also confirms that he moved the hit off Mike and onto the District Attorney. People are tired of broken promises and now that the way’s clear, Bunny orders Mike to get the paperwork signed and get him out.

The drones are flying overhead, making deliveries every few minutes. Bunny says they have an Aryan Brotherhood problem. Mike promises it’s handled.

After meeting with Bunny, Mike and Carney (Lane Garrison) discuss the guards and Carney reveals Davidson has told the guards to loosen their grip on the gangs. Mike wonders if Carney’s running with the AB-sympathizing guards, and Carney reminds him he’s an equal opportunity hater. He doesn’t discriminate based on skin color; they’re all “steaming piles of useless sh*t” to him.

Mike takes off and just happens to be driving down a street when he spots the AB and Crips about to turn the streets red with blood. He pulls his car in between them, reminds the AB they’re in the wrong neighborhood, and sends them scurrying back to their side of town without a bullet being fired.

Mike calls the AB dipsh*ts and can’t believe they’d dare “sling” in a sea of blue.

Elsewhere, Kyle (Taylor Handley) heads into the station, and Captain Heard (Rob Stewart) warns him to make sure he’s got his story straight before he’s interrogated by Internal Affairs. Kyle claims they’re the victims in this situation and Robert’s SWAT guys are heroes.

Captain Heard believes IA and DOJ want someone – anyone – to blame for what went down.

Bunny and Raphael (D Smoke) return to their cells and discover they’re empty. Carney arrives and cuffs them, moving them to a much bigger, better room with a kitchen and private bathroom. Carney and Raf argue over whether this is straight out of The Godfather or Goodfellas, with Carney insisting it’s Goodfellas because he just watched the scene on YouTube. (Carney’s correct.)

This move is courtesy of Mike. Raf loves their new accommodations, but Bunny’s much less enthusiastic.

Mike has his first meeting with Assistant District Attorney Evelyn Foley (Necar Zadegan) following the murder of DA Lockett. She’s upset and thinks Mike had a hand in the execution, but he claims innocence. He admits he didn’t want it to happen but that Lockett basically asked for it.

Evelyn says Lockett’s blood is on Mike and that he’s delusional if he thinks there will ever be peace on the streets. Mike believes Lockett put the target on his own back and that he knew full well what he was messing with.

Evelyn tries to kick Mike out of her office, but Mike wants her to sign the order. Evelyn doesn’t think that’s possible since now they’re at war. “The war only ends when you sign the treaty,” replies Mike.

Later that night, Mike, Kyle, and Ian (Hugh Dillon) head over to a bar for drinks and to talk about the IA investigation. Mike reminds them there’s only one story and they need to stick to it. Kyle explains the captain wants them to talk about the details, and Ian knows the details will trip them up.

Robert (Hamish Allan-Headley) joins them at the bar and announces he’s found the rat. It’s Ben, one of the SWAT officers who was with them during the riot. Kyle notes Ben took out 20 guys himself, and Mike orders them not to speak to the rat. He’ll take care of it.

Robert’s already met with IA, but Kyle and Ian have their meetings scheduled for tomorrow. Ben spoke with the DA, so he doesn’t have to speak with IA. Mike promises to talk to Ben and try and get him not to burn the house down.

Kyle heads home and is shocked Tracy’s there and not at work. She made him dinner, thinking he’d be home to eat it, but he didn’t show up. He admits he was at the bar with Ian going over their IA interviews.

He grabs a beer, offers her one, and then remembers she can’t have it because she’s pregnant. Kyle accuses her of judging him, but Tracy insists whatever he’s feeling isn’t coming from her.

In episode five, Ian briefly met with Charlie Pickens (Kenny Johnson of S.W.A.T.), a convicted killer who confessed to the location of another body. Ian meets with him again and after they pray, he tells Charlie they found the man’s dismembered body. The parts were right where he said they would be.

Charlie promises to call Ian when he thinks of the locations of more bodies. Ian suggests Charlie needs to visit a dentist, explaining that a visit would allow them to take a field trip and get out of jail for a while.

Charlie admits he’d like that.

Back in their new cell, Raf cooks up a delicious Goodfellas-ish dinner. Bunny’s shocked because he had no idea Raf’s a chef. Their dinner’s interrupted by the sound of a drone. Mike hasn’t stopped the deliveries and Bunny pounds on his room’s door, demanding a phone so he can call Mike.

Mike arrives outside the prison and spots the guy controlling the drone. Mike blindsides him, slams him to the ground, and delivers a few blows before pulling his gun. The guy’s phone rings and Mike answers. It’s Gunner (Dylan Kenin) demanding to know why the drone hasn’t dropped its package. Mike tells him his time in the yard is over and the playing field inside the prison is now level. They will all earn inside the same way – without drones.

Mike tells him to honor his part of the deal or else he’ll rot inside.

Kyle’s pounding down drinks at the bar when he spots Iris (Emma Laird). Iris is busy trying to make her nightly quota but when she sees Kyle, she makes a quick exit.

Kyle calls his brother and we’re shown a glass and bottle on Mike’s desk as we hear his cell phone vibrating. Mike’s nowhere to be seen. Kyle leaves a message asking his brother to call back, telling him he found Iris.
