The identity of snarky gossiper Simon Kelleher’s killer in season one was identified at the conclusion of Peacock’s One of Us is Lying season one. And, mini-spoiler alert, the gang took care of that problem (RIP Jake) but wound up creating a new one. Which, of course, leads us to season two.
The two-minute season two trailer reveals the Murder Club members will be tormented by “Simon Says” and forced into doing his/her bidding or else their involvement in Jake’s “disappearance” will be exposed. The trailer suggests the club should keep their friends close, but their secrets even closer.
Season two is set to premiere on October 20, 2022, however, New York Comic Con attendees were treated to a preview of the first episode along with a Q&A with the show’s stars. Showrunner/writer/executive producer Erica Saleh joined Marianly Tejada (“Bronwyn”), Chibuikem Uche (“Cooper”), Annalisa Cochrane (“Addy”), Cooper van Grootel (“Nate”), Jess McLeod (“Janae”), Melissa Collazo (“Maeve”), and Sara Thompson (“Vanessa”) for a panel to discuss all things One of Us is Lying.
“I think in season one they did so well at pulling them together and then pulling them apart,” said Cooper van Grootel about Nate’s relationship with Bronwyn. “And I think they do that really well in season two. But I do believe that their love falls even deeper in season two, for different reasons as well. I do think there’s more trauma there and I think that in season one it’s kind of like that high school relationship where it’s like you’re sort of dancing around the fact that like they haven’t sort of made the connection yet. But, obviously, at the end of season one they have.
And come season two there’s – without spoiling too much – I think there’s more deeper reasons as to like maybe why they can’t be together and then eventually maybe they do, maybe they don’t. I can’t really spoil too much.”
Season two will consist of eight episodes which will all be available at once for your binge-watching pleasure.
The Plot:
Based on Karen M. McManus’s #1 New York Times best-selling novel, One of Us is Lying is the story of what happens when five high schoolers walk into detention and only four make it out alive. Everyone is a suspect, and everyone has something to hide.
Following the heart-pounding conclusion of season one, the Bayview Four have a very deadly secret. In Season Two we’ll see just how far they’ll go to protect their secret, themselves, and each other.
