Inside ‘One Piece’ with the Cast of the Live-Action Adaptation

Netflix’s new four-minute video provides a behind-the-scenes look at One Piece via interviews with the cast. The live-action adaptation of the incredibly popular pirate manga premieres on August 31, 2023, and in the video, the actors discuss bringing to life characters and why One-Piece has such a massive fan base.

Iñaki Godoy (Who Killed Sara?) stars as Monkey D. Luffy, Mackenyu (Pacific Rim: Uprising) plays Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd (Fear Street) is Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson (Greenleaf) plays Usopp, and Taz Skylar (Boiling Point) is Sanji. The cast also includes Morgan Davies as Koby, Ilia Isorelýs Paulino as Alvida, Aidan Scott as Helmeppo, Jeff Ward as Buggy, McKinley Belcher III as Arlong, Vincent Regan as Garp, and Peter Gadiot as Shanks.

One Piece author Eiichrio Oda executive produces along with Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements. Matt Owens and Steven Maeda guide the series as writers, executive producers, and showrunners. The series is produced by Netflix and Tomorrow Studios.

Based on Japan’s highest-selling manga series in history by Eiichiro Oda, One Piece is a legendary high-seas adventure unlike any other. Monkey D. Luffy is a young adventurer who has longed for a life of freedom since he can remember. Luffy sets off from his small village on a perilous journey to find the legendary fabled treasure, ONE PIECE, to become King of the Pirates! But in order to find the ultimate prize, Luffy will need to assemble the crew he’s always wanted before finding a ship to sail, searching every inch of the vast blue seas, outpacing the Marines, and outwitting dangerous rivals at every turn.
