Showtime’s released the first official photo from the horror series Penny Dreadful‘s third season. The first photo from the upcoming season features Eva Green being comforted by Patti Lupone who is playing a new character in season three. Lupone will be tackling the role of American therapist Dr. Seward who “treats Vanessa (Eva Green) with an unconventional new approach.”
Along with releasing the photo, Showtime offered this description of the relationship between Lupone and Green: “Vanessa Ives […] turns to her alienist Dr. Seward (Patti LuPone) for help in battling the evil forces she cannot seem to escape.”
Season three is currently shooting in Dublin, Ireland. Penny Dreadful was created by John Logan who writes and executive produces. Sam Mendes and Pippa Harris also executive produce.
The third season of Penny Dreadful will also star Josh Hartnett, Timothy Dalton, Reeve Carney, Harry Treadaway, Billie Piper, Christian Camargo, Sam Barnett, Wes Studi, Shazad Latif, Sarah Greene, Simon Russell Beale, and Jessica Barden. Season three will air in 2016 and consist of nine episodes.
