The CW’s Reign season four episode 11 found Darnley convincing Queen Mary to kidnap her rival after learning Queen Elizabeth might marry Archduke Ferdinand, a Catholic. However, Darnley never puts Mary’s interests above his own and demanded the Crown Matrimonial so he can rule equally with his wife. He was also prepared to blame the plot to kidnap Elizabeth on Mary, and his men in England had her seal to prove she authorized the attack. Fortunately, Mary has Bothwell on her side and he was able to halt the plan before Elizabeth was even aware of the danger. As for the Crown Matrimonial suggestions, Mary squashed that idea and put Darnley in his place.
