Fox and Marvel are officially moving forward on the dramatic series, The Gifted, showing off a short teaser trailer before launching the full trailer on May 15, 2017. Fox also confirmed the new series based on Marvel’s X-Men comic book franchise will air during the 2017-2018 season. The Gifted stars Stephen Moyer (Shots Fired, True Blood), Amy Acker (Person of Interest), Sean Teale (Reign), Jamie Chung (Gotham), Coby Bell (Burn Notice), Emma Dumont (Aquarius), Blair Redford (Satisfaction), Natalie Alyn Lind (Gotham) and Percy Hynes White (Night at the Museum 3).
Burn Notice‘s Matt Nix is writing The Gifted with the X-Men franchise veteran Bryan Singer directing. Nix, Singer, Lauren Shuler Donner, Simon Kinberg, Jeph Loeb, and Jim Chory are executive producing.
The sci-fi action series’ pilot was greenlit back in July 2016. Commenting on the project when it was initially announced, Fox Broadcasting Company’s President of Entertainment David Madden stated, “Developing a Marvel property has been a top priority for the network–and we are so pleased with how Matt Nix has led us into this thrilling universe. There’s comic book adventure, emotional and complicated relationships, and a rich, existing mythology from which to draw. With the brilliant production crew behind this project, it has all the makings of a big, fun and exciting new series.”
The Plot: Family adventure series The Gifted, from 20th Century Fox Television in association with Marvel Television, tells the story of a suburban couple whose ordinary lives are rocked by the sudden discovery that their children possess mutant powers.
