‘Silicon Valley’ Shows Off a Season 5 Teaser Trailer Along with a Premiere Date

HBO’s confirmed Silicon Valley will return to the Sunday primetime lineup beginning on March 25, 2018 at 10pm ET/PT. The fifth season of the half-hour comedy will be the first without T.J. Miller as Erlich Bachman, and the upcoming season’s new teaser trailer provides a glimpse at what an Erlich-less season will look like.

Silicon Valley was created by Mike Judge, John Altschuler, and Dave Krinsky. Judge, Alec Berg, Clay Tarver, Michael Rotenberg, Tom Lassally, Jamie Babbit, and Jim Kleverweis serve as executive producers.

Season five will star Thomas Middleditch (The Morning After) as Richard Hendricks, Zach Woods (The Office) as Donald ‘Jared’ Dunn, Kumail Nanjiani (The Big Sick) as Dinesh Chugtai, Martin Starr (Spider-Man: Homecoming) as Bertram Gilfoyle, Josh Brener (Welcome to Happiness) as Nelson ‘Big Head’ Bighetti, Amanda Crew (The Age of Adaline) as Monica Hall, Matt Ross (American Horror Story) as Gavin Belson, Suzanne Cryer (The Fosters) as Laurie Bream, and Jimmy O. Yang (El Camino Christmas) as Jian Yang.

The popular comedy has earned 33 Emmy nominations over its four seasons, winning two: Outstanding Production Design for a Narrative Program (Half-Hour or Less) and Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing for a Comedy Series in 2015. The series has also picked up multiple Golden Globe, Critics’ Choice (winning two), Directors Guild, Producers Guild, and Writers Guild nominations. In addition, the American Film Institute included Silicon Valley on its list of the best TV shows in 2014.

The Plot: The show takes a comic look at the modern-day epicenter of the high-tech gold rush, where the people most qualified to succeed are the least capable of handling success.

A Look Back at Season 4’s Plot: Change is in the air as the Pied Piper guys pursue their video-chat app, PiperChat, but Richard has a hard time letting go of his dream to put his algorithm to better use. Dinesh flirts with notoriety, while Gilfoyle looks on in amusement. Erlich searches for his next big break. Jared attempts to pivot with the company. And Big Head enters the world of academia.

Meanwhile, over at Hooli, Gavin finds himself threatened by Jack Barker, while Monica struggles to bounce back at Raviga after her fallout with Laurie. Sharp and irreverent, Silicon Valley continues to lambast the self-important world of tech in a season that finds the Pied Piper team looking to leave their mark, even as they continue to fumble along the road to success.
